    Sure, GMs (PBOs) aren't above making poor decisions. Insisting on some bull**** offer is beyond stupid or old-timey. You aren't just throwing away a potentially top offer, and alienating one of a very limited number of trade partners, you're destroying your own professional reputation, and possibly reshaping how other clubs will conduct business with you. I believe it's legitimate in the sense that at some point those teams asked about high end prospects, and eventually the Twins weren't willing to spend what it would've actually cost to acquire either SP. That isn't remotely the same as Detroit or Chicago insisting on Jenkins in a swap. Also, was the rest of baseball charging the Twins a "premium," too? I think it's far more likely the Twins are leaking damage control than both divisional trade partners were behaving in wildly incompetent ways, especially since this same Twins team did essentially nothing with the other 27 teams across MLB.

    They literally just marched Falvey out to explain that financial constraints had nothing to do with the inactivity at the deadline. That seems equally insulting. Everybody gets to choose their level of investment in this team. I have no issue with fans being pissed about what's going on with this club after a very public reminder.

    Do you honestly believe Detroit was insistent on Jenkins or Lee headlining a deal for 2 months of Flaherty? I don't. I believe the Tigers asked about the price (any team looking to acquire prospects would) but I don't buy for one second that they were sabotaging negotiations and turning away a potentially viable (or best) offer. It's not exactly difficult for the Twins to feed the Jenkins/Lee inquiry to a media mouthpiece and suddenly that becomes the story. I don't view that reporting any differently than the "we were in on Player X until....." reports that flow out of 1 Twins Way during the offseason or other deadlines.

    So the Twins didn't march Provus out there to promote a streaming service, or at the very least give him the green light to speak about one? They didn't immediately ditch those plans and jump back in with Balley the second a new deal, with more up front money, materialized? Oh, and they're not culpable in any way for racing back into business with a company that was failing to make payments across baseball? Yeesh, point out the conspiracy..... The "spending other people's money," argument might have some merit if one of the richest ownership groups in MLB wasn't running this team like a poverty franchise. They pulled a bait-and-switch with the viewing options in order to make some extra $$, which they pocketed, while slashing payroll, and now we're supposed to shrug and let them off the hook because the bankrupt group they chose in the cash grab has ****ed up the broadcast situation? Some of you are so deep in the Pohlad pockets you can't tell up from down at this point....

    If you're a selling (rebuilding) team, why would not ask about the price of those prospects? Of course those names are brought up. Inquiry doesn't equal insistence... I think the Twins refusal to add salary is a much more "reasonable narrative," than Detroit purposely eliminating a potential suitor because they're afraid of Jack Flaherty in a Twins uniform for 2 months...

    This is how negotiations go; ask high and settle in the middle. I promise you the Twins are doing the same thing. Also, there's zero chance those swaps were 1 for 1. Detroit was asking from Brooks Lee for 2 months of Jack Flaherty. We saw what each of those guys returned. The Twins could've beat those packages without coming close to giving up any of the prospects named.

    Sure, streaming *potentially* wouldn't have been as lucrative, but we're talking about literal loose change for these ***holes making fiscal decisions. They talked up a streaming option during the offseason and the second a few more dollars were dangled in front of their faces they jumped back in bed with a company going bankrupt. It's asinine to think that Bally being pulled from Comcast's packages was some sort of shocking or unforeseen outcome. I mean c'mon. If you actually want to argue that Twins business gurus who negotiated that deal shouldn't be held accountable you're simply endorsing incompetence.

    Cobb is about to turn 37. He hasn't thrown a pitch all year after shoulder inflammation derailed his rehab from offseason surgery. I'd say Cleveland received a nickel for 5 pennies as well.

    Cobb hasn't thrown a single pitch this season. I wouldn't get too excited about acquiring him if I was a Guardians fan.

    The price is irrelevant if Richards is bleeding runs during the middle innings while this team is trying to chase down a divisional foe.

    What's "true improvement?" It's going to be awfully easy to spin deadline moves as not meeting such a moving target and subsequently let this ownership group off the hook.

    Margot is about to post a July slash that's in line with his April and May. It was already pointed out, but he's not even an average defender in the corners, and he obviously can't play CF. He's still sitting at a negative WAR 2/3 of the way through the season. There's no reason this team needs to allocate a roster spot to that type of performance....

    Those 3 have lengthy injury histories at this point, so why is that being ignored?

    A healthy Correa? Sure, but that's not the point. The Twins were relying on more/better production from the above group sans Correa. There's real debate as to whether that was a great plan, but all 5 of the players listed had spot dedicated to them on the active roster.

    Paxton would be this year's version of Dallas Keuchel; high traffic on the bases and no ability to generate outs himself. The trade deadline is one week from today, be proactive if you're serious about trying to upgrade your starting pitching.

    That much is obvious.... I don't think it's a stretch to say that the percentage of users on this site (people with higher than average investment levels) who view the situation similarly to Gleeman far exceeds 5%. And no, those who hold that opinion aren't simply lemmings. It's highly unlikely that fans with lower investment levels would be less affected by the blackouts and payroll purge.

    .143/.182/.286 so far in July. He looks a lot like the April/May version right now. I wouldn't be trying to get him extra ABs at the top of the lineup, even if it's a LHP starting, but whatever...

    We're advocating for Jeffers to catch less often because he has posted a 71 wRC+ in the last 6 weeks, but Vazquez starting more games last year and so far this season while posting a 65 & 49 wRC+ respectively isn't about a sunk cost? Ok.... I would love to see the defensive metrics being gushed over put into context vs. his terrible offensive numbers. How many strikes is he "stealing," in an average game? How often during a game is he blocking balls that prevent runners from moving up a base? Do either come close to providing enough value to offset his his inability to control the run game and his paltry offensive performance over the last 1.5 seasons?
