    It's not that he needs to prove it longer. It's just the "it" he has already proved isn't terribly impressive. He provides marginal offense and zero defense, which makes him adequate as injury insurance stashed in AAA, but nothing more.

    As long as he has options, keep him (unless he gets in the way of someone better.) I doubt he has much trade value, but don't let him walk until he needs to be kept on the 25-man (or until you need his spot on the 40 for someone else.)

    Duensing ... Kelly ... Duensing ... Kelly ... I can't see it makes much difference which one we chose. Duensing probably throws a little harder. Kelly would look better in the uniform.

    That slide was dirty even by the old standards. In the aftermath, Odor and Bautista both behaved badly. The difference is Odor actually knows how to throw a punch. I'm not sure why we would punish Bautista less on account of poor form.

    To us, it meant the Twins needed better prospects. (Gibson was a decent prospect, not a great one). Fortunately, they got some. Unfortunately, they had to lose a lot of games to get into position to draft them.

    I do remember noticing a steady decline in fundamentals under Gardy, even when the team was good. Maybe we were just predisposed to notice every mistake and think "so much for the Twins Way" after every mistake, but I do think standards were allowed to slip over time. TK's greatest strength also could be his greatest failing as well. Young players often weren't given the opportunity to succeed because the leash was so short.

    That's what I remember, too. TK teams were very sound in the fundamentals, even when they weren't very good. I remember plenty of discussions about Gardy's good teams where it was mentioned that broadcasters still talked about the Twins way, but the Twins didn't really play that way anymore. (This was before TD, both on Seth's site and on Gleeman's.)

    I know Murphy has looked completely lost and sending him down was the right thing to do, but I'm not ready to give up on him.

    Beat me to it. Any discussion of hated announcers has to include Hawk Harrelson. John Sterling deserves a dishonorable mention as well.
