  1. I'd be all for it - I would have an excuse to wear my Liriano jersey again. Unfortunately, I don't think Escobar's trade value is that high (unless you are trying to bring back Nelson, not Francisco).
  2. I certainly didn't hear that, but I probably wasn't listening.
  3. It doesn't bother me. I'm good at not listening - ask my wife.
  4. That looks like more than once every 2.7 years.
  5. You could compile a pretty good list just by finding the outrageous thread starters from VodkaDave/DaveW/MarkDerosa. There is usually some pretty good discussion that follows as people talk him down off the ledge (or climb out there with him) (or push him off). Edit: And I almost forgot, stop calling me Shirley!
  6. Not possible. We have computers and the internet, therefore we know all.
  7. For Santana, last year was good luck (performance much better than track record suggested.) This year had been regression + bad luck, but most of it has been regression.
  8. It definitely is puzzling, I'm not sure what's going on either, but it sure seems like there must be something we can't see. Right now I prefer Escobar to any of the other options, and Santana really needs to go down. He has just been horrible all year.
  9. Rule 5.09 Edit: A batter is out when: a (11) In running the last half of the distance from home base to first base, while the ball is being fielded to first base, he runs outside (to the right of ) the three-foot line, or inside (to the left of ) the foul line, and in the umpire’s judgment in so doing interferes with the fielder taking the throw at first base, in which case the ball is dead; except that he may run outside (to the right of ) the three-foot line or inside (to the left of ) the foul line to avoid a fielder attempting to field a batted ball; Rule 5.09(a )(11) Comment : The lines marking the three-foot lane are a part of that lane and a batter-runner is required to have both feet within the three-foot lane or on the lines marking the lane. The batter-runner is permitted to exit the three-foot lane by means of a step, stride, reach or slide in the immediate vicinity of first base for the sole purpose of touching first base.
  10. I always wear my Twins jersey, even if the Twins aren't playing. The only exception is if I go to games on consecutive days - Twins jersey the first game, Twins t-shirt the second.
  11. I would have been fine waiting for spring training.
  12. Don't say it unless you're going to tell the story
  13. The only MLB pitcher from my hometown was Pete Walker, now the Blue Jays pitching coach. I would have guessed he would have been the third-best pitcher in his family, but it's always hard to tell with pitchers.
  14. The best player from my hometown ended up playing for the White Sox - Brook Fordyce. He was by far the best prep hitter I had seen until this year - a kid named Corey Zangari from Midwest City, OK. (Also drafted by the White Sox - 6th round) Serious power potential.
  15. OK, so I'll stock up on vanilla ice cream to go with it. Keep the boring coming.
  16. Beef-based? Milk-based. From cows, yes, but I don't think they are beef until someone kills them. The factory is just outside OKC in Tuttle, OK, but it's about as far from city as you can get. Their ice cream is good, not great (I preferred Blue Bell until the listeria problem shut them down) but it's an interesting company. From their Wikipedia page: Braum's is noteworthy for its level of vertical integration. Almost all the food products sold at Braum's are processed or manufactured directly by the company; Braum's owns its own feed mill, dairy herd, dairy processing plant, bakery, stores and delivery trucks. It also owns eight farms and ranches with a total area of 40,000 acres (160 km2), as well as its flagship dairy farm in Tuttle, Oklahoma ... Braum's describes itself as the only major ice cream maker to still milk its own cows. They also produce the packaging used for their dairy products.
  17. There seem to be a lot of people trying to take your job tonight. (Braum's Peanut Butter Cup for me. No maple syrup required.)
  18. Before the season, most predicting 80 losses would have been considered optimistic. Now it would be a disappointment.
  19. Sounds like a fair trade-off.
  20. I have a couple of OF non-prospects in the house dealing with the same issues.
  21. You will need a follow-up article with the new manager's 5-year plan to build a winner.
  22. It's been fun so far, but I don't smell them yet. (And I thought I was the irrational optimist.)
  23. I like my socks. Is that wrong too? I've been to Venice a couple of times, Rome once, but I'd love to live in Italy for an extended period.
