  1. I'm guessing aberration. I didn't expect him to keep his ridiculously low K rate all year, but I don't expect him to suddenly transform into something he has never been, either.
  2. If I thought the Twins were on the verge of contending and were in need of a CF (and had a deep rotation like the Nats did), I would have made that trade in the off-season (assuming Jennings was healthy then; he sure isn't now.) I thought the Span-Meyer trade was reasonable for both sides, but the circumstances for the Twins coming in to 2015 didn't match the Nats in 2013. At least a year from contending, top prospect is a CF and hopefully gets a Sept call-up, rotation still needs some top-end help. We'd be dealing away one need to fill another.
  3. Jon Rauch was pretty food for a soft-tossing almost-7-footer. If he had 3-4 mph more on his fastball, he would have been scary.
  4. Didn't we just do a lot of that this past off-season??
  5. I'm not even ready to concede that. The timeline is pushed back a bit and the odds are a bit longer, but if something clicks he could be the RH Randy Johnson by August.
  6. There is very little evidence that I have seen that clutch performance (specifically performance w/RISP) is a skill. If it was, people would tend to remain clutch performers over a period of time, that their stats with RISP would be consistently higher than their overall stats year after year. Instead, we find the opposite. If you take the top 10% and bottom 10% clutch performers from one year and graph their clutch performance the following year, the two graphs would probably be similar. The majority in each group would have RISP performance about equal to their overall performance, some would be above, and some would be below.
  7. We haven't even hit the iceberg yet (this year). Rearrange away!
  8. I will admit that one never gets old.
  9. We try not to hold that against him. I really thought the money would have been better spent elsewhere and that the Twins overpaid for a marginal reliever.
  10. Didn't Thielbar have an unexplained drop in velocity sometime last year and fall apart shortly thereafter? I hate to say it, but he might be more done than Duensing.
  11. Agree X2
  12. Another heretic to burn at the stake, I see. I actually live closer to the home of the franchise than I ever have in my life (I'm in OK, about 4 hours away. I moved from MN to CT about 4 years before the 1969 NHL expansion). When I was younger I liked teams from MN because I was from MN. Now I like the teams I've always liked and don't care about the rest.
  13. I think there is just the belief that it works better that way, because once the game starts, no more reading Twins Daily in the dugout.
  14. She still had the option of living in denial and remaining a North Stars fan like I did. I even kept my 2nd team, too - the Whalers. When my teams are on, I watch. When they aren't, I usually don't.
  15. I think a month ago he wanted shots of Jack to more efficiently drown his sorrows.
  16. He signed in 2010 and it was the Twins
  17. He would have had 60+ HRs in 2009 if he played there. (How much would they be paying him now if he did?)
  18. Wow, I missed that half-inning. Gameday-only today. I took a look at the highlights (Torii's HR from about 6 different angles) and when I was done there were 3 outs. Definitely not Pelf pitching today.
  19. Can you find a place that's 280 down the line to left? I think he'd like that better.
  20. She was probably picturing all the riff-raff you hang out with online showing up at the house. Imagine your insurance rates after one of the old folks throws out his back on the water slide. (Trying to be nice by not mentioning Chief by name there.)
  21. Going for the cycle and four straight balls. It's hard to get Torii to not swing at four pitches in a row in normal circumstances.
  22. I was going to say that, but I didn't think I had kissed up to the mods enough yet.
  23. Teamwork is overrated (just like RBI and "mentoring younger players.")
  24. Pelfrey's pitches by inning: 19-19-21 Pelfrey's runs by inning: 0-0-2 Evidence indicates he needs to keep it right at 19 pitches
