  1. I know how you felt … a Blizzard makes it better
  2. I have a nephew with a PhD in dark matter physics. I went to his defense of his dissertation and understood very little of it
  3. Even with the humor that triggered a memory to a religion class in college that I did not pass!
  4. Not just valuable, but the whole point - to get to the post-season. That doesn’t happen without Gray, imo. (And before anyone misconstrues my words for ‘just happy to make the playoffs’ that is NOT what I just said, it’s not what anyone is saying, so don’t go there.)
  5. If I recall ... didn't Gardy want Hardy gone for some reason? Still a horrible trade and one I wouldn't have made ...
  6. Sonny Gray is someone who thinks out loud. He’s just talking and I don’t think it means too much. I’m sure he’s thinking ahead to retiring … maybe he will, maybe he won’t. Maybe he’s being strategic about the off-season maybe he’s not. He thinks out loud and is running through his options.
  7. We are both remembering incorrectly. He’s never been long relief. In 2021 he came up in June and was a starter. He was moved to the pen in 2022 where he had success, and not pitching long relief either. A small number of times going two innings, rarely more than that, but early in the season. By mid-season he established himself as a very good one-inning reliever. And a few games only pitched 7, 8, 9 or 10 pitches, looking briefly through game logs. His biggest success has been as a one-inning guy. I stand by my comment … of things in last night’s game one could quibble about, I don’t think this is one of them. We won. Why are we second guessing the thing that worked?
  8. So? They tried the multiple inning thing on him, when the first inning was good, it didn’t work. He’s had success again as a 1-inning only guy. There could be other quibbles of the game, but I don’t think this one was it
  9. But didn’t they try to have Jax go two in the beginning of the year? What happened with that?
  10. Your celebration of winning is often muted. In a season where we won’t see as many as any of us would like, for a host of reasons, you won’t be celebrating at all, so I’ll take what I can get 🙂
  11. I’ll take an ugly win over an ugly loss any day of the week and twice on Sundays. So often we complain (warranted with this offense) about how the offense doesn’t score enough runs or the BP fails when the starting pitching has done its job. Nice to see those other entities pick it up and hold it when the SP fails. If that’s ugly, I’ll take it.
  12. Maybe you answered your own questions? Maybe his usage is what’s helping him be successful?
  13. Right, and geeez, we are losing bad out there tonight
  14. Haven’t seen anything official, but this is what most are saying. The Miranda part is certain, the Wallner part isn’t official.
  15. Will they let you into Canada? They are pretty strict there ... 😉
  16. The scoreboards now block some of those rooftop bleachers
  17. Blecht … Wrigley is a dump … but, if you want to get to all the stadiums, you gotta do it!
  18. While there was a time I’d have done that, I’m not certain I want Kepler in CF today. I don’t think his defense is what it used to be
  19. I actually don't think that would be a good thing, defensively, imo. Where he's at now ... not sure I want him in CF.
