    Agree with Kirilloff's bat, and don't think that is in question (at least I hope not). As I indicated above, perhaps not clearly, I'd switch them because I think Gallo is the far better outfielder, and not because I think Kirilloff is the better 1B, because I'm not sure he is, by much, anyway.

    Heh ... today as I watched parts of the game, I kept thinking, Gallo is really good at first base. I don't think Kirilloff is really that much better, but perhaps Gallo is a far better outfielder. I think that's more the case than the other. I wonder if Gallo's leg was more banged up than we realize? Otherwise, not really sure why that is the call there.

    Oh yeah, I get it ... as I said somewhere, not sure this thread of another ... it's not surprising. But I am disappointed for Wallner. Just hope Kepler hits enough to make us forget this ... hope springs eternal, etc ...

    Bottom line ... I don't like losing those who are hitting any more than the next person. I can't say how or why what decisions are made ... well above my pay grade ... doesn't mean I always like them, either. The only thing I can think is they didn't feel Wallner would get every day playing time (again, don't know why because I don't know the plan) and maybe they want him playing every day in St. Paul, knowing he will be back up soon? (When someone goes ... someone has to.) Just searching for rationale.

    At this point, I'm more concerned that Miranda was a 'blip'. He didn't show a lot early on, then had a monster year in AAA, then a good rookie year for us last year. Now? I wonder if he was a blip. Hope not. But there is that possibility.

    That's why I said, I'd rather have Wallner, for all you stated. I'd rather him up and hitting, because we need hitting. But, this is also the game. Players go up and down. While not what I would have done, it's not out of the realm of 'ordinary', and I don't think it sends a negative message to prospects as the poster I quoted stated.

    I posted this in the injuries update thread, but it’s pertinent here, too. Looks like no IL trip for now. But this tweet also signals they aren’t likely to go with 12 pitchers as @Hosken Bombo Disco suggested. If they do end up putting him on the IL not sure who there is to take his place. Trades need to happen, yet is it too soon for that?

    I’d rather have Wallner but it don’t think it sends a negative message, imo. I’m hoping Kepler is gone in a month or so, though.

    Keep in mind he had to use his rifle arm because he misplayed a catchable ball. It worked out, because he has that arm. But we need his bat. I said in another thread about that same play. I’d rather have the bat and sacrifice a bit of the defense. I’m disappointed for Wallner, though, but he’d be sitting on a bench most days. I’m hoping that someone gets traded soon.

    Oh right. Totally forgot Larnach had pneumonia. I think Hosken’s suggestion has merit. Try one less pitcher. Although, until Pagán is put on the IL we are already down one

    Just to point out … Gordon is 27, Castro and Larnach are 26, Kirilloff and Wallner are 25, then Miranda and Julien are 24 and Lewis is 23. I’m not sure at what age cutoff is young. I hear it all the time ‘our young guys’ … what’s young? Is Larnach young at 26, but Gordon isn’t at 27? Correa is 28, Gallo, Buxton and Polo are all 29 and Max is the ripe old age of 30. That aside, I want the best out there. I care more about how they are playing than whether or not they’re our ‘young guys.’ I’m actually not sure where Miranda fits, tbh, but the way he’s playing, that may not be a worry. Is he still young enough at 24? I think we are at the end of the road with Gordon, but not sure how tradable he is right now with his injury. So, Castro, if he can keep up what he’s doing, putting together some good hits and playing well enough all over the place, I do think he supplants Gordon as our 26th-man/super-utility player. Whenever Gordon comes back from injury, we’ll see where he and Castro are at. Castro played well yesterday, but where will he be in a week?
