    Lewis’ agent said something early this season or during ST about him not playing in the OF. Don’t remember the exact quote but it was clear that that wasn’t an option. Not sure if it was for this season or for always but the Twins have honored that. And Kepler has stated numerous times about not liking CF and that he’s uncomfortable out there. I don’t think either player has stated outright or publicly that they refuse to play CF but it’s been clear they don’t want to and those wishes have been honored.

    All I’m saying as those you listed won’t bring back much of anything but you listen to offers and see. I’d be surprised if we retain Gray or he’d already be extended. Gray wants to try the FA market and is going to get a bigger and longer deal than we will offer a pitcher. If we are going to sell, Gray will be sold and should be. He is the only one who will bring back anything of value.

    If you are going to be a seller, then you trade Gray and maybe Polanco, too, if he’s healthy. Agree on the others but you won’t get much for them. It’s not about ‘getting rid’ of players you don’t want, it’s about getting value for those who are worth something

    Before this goes further, there are many threads and articles on TD to discuss Buxton. Please don’t turn this game recap into another Buxton discussion which comes up daily and always includes the same arguments. Whether we are suspicious or think he’s injured or is just not physically capable … disagreement is not drawing ire, but there is plenty of that on BOTH sides of this … but this is all for discussion in another thread. Thank you.

    He’s only been sent down once this year so he can be sent down 4 more times … I assume this is what you mean. Option years are different. You only use one option a year, but can be sent down up to 5 times within that year.

    I’d agree with that. Execution is always on the players. It has been up to this point and it will be after this point. They are the ones turning in poor performances so it only right for them to turn it around and start turning in good performances.

    That usually means no media but it could also mean coaches. But Baldelli was there so my question is … were any of the coaches there or not? I haven’t read the news on this so if someone had a more detailed account of who was/wasn’t there I’d be interested to know

    This was the result of the closed door meeting Baldelli had with the team so I don’t think the manager was left out of the decision. But Popkins? Was he officially left out?

    At the start of this season I felt this was a .500 or slightly better team with potential to be more if everything clicked and injuries were minimal. While our record isn’t under expectations, some of the losses in how we lost were. Some have been brutal, especially the offense. And conversely, some of the wins, like tonight, garnered hope that the potential I felt that was always there was showing itself. It’s such a long season but the roller coaster of highs and lows of this season so far are vertigo inducing! But here’s to hoping but keeping my expectations in check.

    That actually didn’t happen. It was the plan but with all the contract hoopla they didn’t really spend the time together that they planned

    Also, the MLB draft is no longer strictly based on team record, so tanking doesn’t necessarily guarantee you the same draft position as in previous years, so it’s not beneficial to do so.

    You do realize that the body is all connected and that one has an effect on the other. I’ll use myself as an example. I have arthritis in my right foot. When it flares it’s painful. I don’t always realize how I’m walking then all of a sudden have knee, hip or back pain. A weakness in one area usually is over-compensated for in another creating new problems that seem unrelated but aren’t.. It’s all connected and leads to all these different statements of physical woes which leads to all our confusion of just what is happening.. That said,, as a fan I’m frustrated by the situation. And I have no clue what the real answer is or if there even is a long-term satisfactory answer for us, the team or especially for Buxton himself. And I don’t think anyone really knows, tbh, Can’t communicate what you don’t know. It’s frustrating and will be frustrating until there is some kind of finality to the situation, which likely won’t be a good one,

    But who replaces Gray and Maeda? Do those replacements get us to the playoffs or make our chances worse? The depth of our rotation is what’s kept us in it. If we sell on some of these guys, particularly if we are still leading the division by the trade deadline, I think we are basically throwing in the towel. So either go for it or don’t. I agree that Ryan, Lopez and Ober would be fine as a rotation in the playoffs, but I do think you need a 4th starter. Varland? Pretty sure I’d rather have Gray with Maeda to the pen. But that’s all moot, if we don’t get there to begin with. I’d rather get to the playoffs and lose than not make the playoffs at all.

    Was Alcala moved to the 60-day? As for Lopez, I thought they transferred him to the 15-day, but I'm showing him still on the restricted list on BRef. If he's on the restricted list he wouldn't show up on the roster at all. I know initially the Twins moved him to the restricted list, but I thought they changed that. So, not sure ... maybe they just haven't caught up yet with the roster on their website?
