    I get that and see that. However, your chances are better you will have a stronger pen by not relying on AAA guys or AAAA reclamation projects. Yes, you do hit it right on from time to time with those types, but your chances are better if you aim higher. Imo.

    Polanco might draw interest from a contending team, but you would have to find a team who has excess on the area we need. But until we know for certain when Lewis is coming back, I’m not ready to trade Polanco and his bat. The way Kepler is playing currently might draw interest, but if he continues playing as he is, he has value to us. Miranda isn’t a crunch on the 26-man, he can remain in St. Paul. It is time to part ways with Gallo, though, one way or another. If we keep Polanco, Royce may end up in the OF.

    Who is going to buy those players and give us anything in return to help us the rest of the season? A team rebuilding will want prospects in return for MLB players, and a team in the hunt is going to be looking for better.

    Well, I was referring to trade deadline as I thought that's what this thread was about. Makes for a confusing discussion when some are talking about trade deadline and some talking about the off-season. I took your comments to be about trade deadline.

    Polanco - no, I don't think it is. We'd be selling low if we did. He can play 3rd for the short term. Who knows when Lewis will return. But his bat will be nice to have. I have been saying for weeks to trade or DFA one or both of them, so no, I won't be hurt, and that's not at all what I said. However, Kepler's bat has been good of late, so he still has some value to us. But Gallo? I have never said to keep him. My initial comments about 'disappointed' was trading Larnach or Kepler. Buxton isn't being traded anywhere. I wish people would get that out of their heads. Correa at SS, absolutely. Have you seen him play? Good Lord, it would be foolish to move him off SS this year and probably the next couple of years. Lee will be at 3rd and Lewis will be in the OF or 2nd base, in coming years. But we are talking about this year. Correa is the SS this year. Lee will not see the majors this year. Has he even been moved up to AAA yet? And nowhere have I ever stated that it's just good enough to get to the playoffs. But we are a playoff team, thanks to a weak division. But we have the pitching to do well. And I think with a rh bat and another GOOD reliever, we can win some games. Will we win it all? Doubtful. But I don't think we will get our butts kicked in round 1, either. We will if we trade away half the team and move Correa off SS.

    I think we have a playoff team. Yes, I know ... weak division, blah blah blah ... but I think we are playoff bound. And I think we have the pitching to win a few games. And if our offense keeps up, we have a team. Another reliable relief pitcher and a right-handed bat ... that's it. World Series bound? Doubtful. But, I think we have a playoff team. Dumping everyone now, as you suggested in an earlier post, I think would be very foolhardy. Trading away everyone to make a splash at one position ... nope. I don't know when, but not this year.

    This has me torn, actually. Kepler is hitting now so it makes him valuable to us for right now (imo, despite Brock's borderline irrational dislike.) But I don't want to move on from Wallner or Larnach, either. Gallo would be the one to move, but he won't bring back much at this point. So ... what to do? I think whatever they do might have me disappointed, especially if it doesn't work out. So maybe the best thing is to do nothing?

    Recently? Pete Rose did it, but I couldn't find anyone since him. In the modern era, which I'd describe as after Pete Rose there have been none. I don't think we'd see that again, and doubtful that would be Nelson Cruz.

    Then title your article to reflect that. You spent too much time on the aspect of if and why Baldelli could be fired and didn’t focus on Cruz and his path to a managerial role. That’s what made it seem clicky in that it was a bit confusing what exactly this was about. I mean Baldelli being fired isn’t Cruz’ path forward. Instead maybe highlight on how some former players made it to the top and then compare how Cruz could do that. Or if it’s about Latin players making that shift, then focus on how other Latin players made their way in or how others were denied the opportunity. Baldelli potentially being fired really has nothing to do with that, but it’s a ‘clicks’ subject matter in these parts. But back to Cruz, I’d like to see him in a managerial role someday, whether here or elsewhere, but not sure how that path looks for him. I’d love it if he were a hitting coach for us, as a start. Or maybe a lead role in player development. But doubtful he, or any player, goes right from playing to managing. And he would have to officially retire from playing first. Has he?
