  1. 4? Are you sure you counted that correctly?
  2. Yet they had trouble with the White Sox ....
  3. In a close game like that, that would not have been the spot to put in Astudillo for the 1st time. Granted, maybe they could’ve played him there already, but, that’s the larger issue. But this wasn’t the time for Astudillo and that spot wasn’t likely to come up to bat.
  4. Smart asses, the lot of you!
  5. Anyone seen 'Ant-Man and the Wasp' yet?
  6. I was at the Miracle game on the 4th ... waiting, waiting, waiting ... until my Mom and I decided to leave, just minutes before the game was officially called. We went to the game the next day, so we still got a game in. Glad you were able to get to Florida to see Donny play!
  7. I don't think anyone is suggesting handing Rooker the job, at least I wasn't. But I think it's enough of a possibility you simply can't not have him be a part of the discussion. I'd like to see Rooker moved up to AAA this year to see how he does and go from there. While it's not likely he'd make the team next year, and no one is slotting him in as a given, I don't think it can be ruled out completely and not part of the discussion as a possibility. At the very least I'd think he could be a call up next year at some point. But then, he's not on the 40-man and he likely won't be put on it this fall, so, that could be the stronger issue as to when we might see him all the way up.
  8. If they move Rooker up to AAA ball yet this year, depending on how he does, he could fill that spot. It's a long shot and likely not to happen, but ... I think it's enough of a possibility that you can't not look at it.
  9. I’d actually watch that. There are so many things they could do, but won’t, to actually make it a true ‘best of the best’ game to watch instead of teams based on fan base.
  10. To answer the question about the Futures game ... no MLB team is allowed more than two representatives. Some teams only have one prospect going. If you do the math, 25 on each team is 50 players. With 30 MLB teams and each team needs at least one representative, the rule is no team can have more than 2.
  11. Right on cue. Are you going to ask that every single game thread?
  12. That was actually my first thought when I saw Carter was released, except I only thought Rooker. Get him to AAA this year. As much as I’d like to see him all the way up, I don’t think that happens this year for a number of reasons. But I think they could and should push him to AAA this year.
  13. If the previous regime’s failure in accurately assessing and developing players, wasn’t Doug M a part of that? As much as I liked him, and wanted him as manager when Mollie was hired, I have to wonder.
  14. If a few teams would pursue Dozier because of (rightfully) perceived low cost, might one be willing to up the ante to break the tie?
  15. This thread is getting a bit off track. There are a couple of threads to talk about the draft and pool soending in the Minor League forum. http://twinsdaily.com/topic/30232-article-minnesota-twins-2018-mlb-draft-signing-tracker/ http://twinsdaily.com/topic/30516-twins-sign-top-draft-pick/
  16. I’m not sure I’d call it a snub, as I think that implies some intentionality, but yeah, when you have to fill out two balanced rosters, and every team has to be represented, and you have world vs u.s. ... there are just a lot of paremeters that it’s just not so easy as to just choose everyone’s top 2 prospects.
  17. It’s also worth noting that no No. 1 overall pick has ever signed for full slot value. I actually think the Twins did a great job this year with their pool money and how many they signed,
  18. Why do you say this? If it’s based on the play in the majors, most of those guys, if not all, were developed under the previous regime. At what point is it a development issue or a manager/coaching issue? (I already said I think their biggest mistake was signing Molitor for 3 yrs.) I think seeing what becomes of Sano will tell us more about this FO’s development program, if it’s not too late. And maybe it is. I’m not sure it’s fair to expect instantaneous results on that front. They didn’t really start replacing people throughout the minors until this past off season, so when is the right time to grade that? That’s partly why I’m on the fence because some of these things take time to grade.
  19. After seeing that catch I thought, ‘Buxton who?’ I also thought he must’ve been channeling Kirby for all those robbed shots to center during his era with the Twins. His leaps were always so perfectly timed.
  20. And Torii will manage the U.S. team.
  21. Carl didn't really have that enthusiasm, either ... it was his wife who loved the Twins.
  22. MODERATOR NOTE: Quit characterizing people’s posts as panicking. And quit instructing people what is fact or opinion. Assume that everything posted is opinion unless it has been reported otherwise, with a link attached, or ask such as I did with Mike just now. Their opinions just greatly differ than yours on how to proceed. Neither is right or wrong. Discuss, debate, disagree, but at some point just accept others have something different in mind. When you are at an impasse, agree to disagree and walk away. And the ‘wise up’ or similar comments are not necessary, either. Next time that gets you a warning. This goes for everyone.
