  1. Was that reported somewhere that the pitchers wanted Wilson over Garver, or is that speculation because there seems to be no other plausible explanation?
  2. I’ve actually made similar comments. I think it would take 3-4 pieces but that the pieces are large and costly. I think they could do this and still have a reasonable payroll. But if I’m Machado, I’m not sure the money is what signs him and I think it would take more than 30mil/yr. and I don’t see this FO/owner okaying a 10 yr contract. But, I still think this is very doable without completely bloating payroll a la the Yankees.
  3. The 2nd Miracle game, Mason inherited runners and allowed one to score. Dunedin had ample chances to score more but were held. It was a good game but I couldn’t help but think how similar to the Twins it was with lacking offense.
  4. I will give them another off season before declaring them a success or a flop. I’ve liked the drafts, but I’d like to see some results of that before declaring success. Their roster construction and in-season moves have been baffling to maddening. But the biggest down side in my book was offering Molitor a 3-yr contract. Perhaps that was completely a Pohlad move and can’t be pinned to them, but that was an awful move, imo.
  5. Hmm ... by that logic ... Minneapolis is the capital of Minnesota? Can you imagine the capital of New York being The Bronx? Or Queens? And Florida must have two capitals? Yeah, doing your homework is wise.
  6. I always thought that capital of Maryland was Annapolis. When did it change?
  7. Now that Larnach is signed, hopefully they can get Sands and Mack signed tomorrow. Any reason to think one or the other or both won’t get done?
  8. Larnach is signed. http://www.startribune.com/twins-sign-first-round-pick-trevor-larnach/487432771/
  9. Larnach is signed. $2.25 mil. http://www.startribune.com/twins-sign-first-round-pick-trevor-larnach/487432771/
  10. That’s fine. But my pipe dream is better!
  11. I didn’t see this mentioned anywhere. He was removed from the 40-man a week ago and yesterday was released.
  12. Ive always liked Machado’s much better. To each his/her own.
  13. I’m not sure the Twins have way too many issues, I think they could do it in 2-3 pieces ... but all pieces would be big, costly pieces. Realmuto alone won’t change the needle, imo, but Realmuto AND Machado would, IMO, and a proven, BP piece and/or closer. I think these things are possible and would make us legit. But possible and probable are different things, and the latter is where we are ... not probable.
  14. More on that, and this takes it off topic, I think the Twins are 2-3 pieces away from contending. It’s just that those pieces are big pieces and costly pieces, i.e. Machado AND Realmuto.
  15. The way the Twins have played this year, there’s no way Machado signs here even if we did offer the most money. Contrary to popular belief, I think players do consider more than just the money.
  16. Could/would the Yanks go after BOTH?
  17. That’s where I hope the Twins put him when they sign him.
  18. Why did Miller go on the restricted list? I assume for a failed drug test of some sort or another?
  19. This was at the Miracle game last night: Seeing that makes me wonder what the field will be like today, especially with two games to play, but I guess it drains well. But more rain for this afternoon in the forecast. I have tickets to both games but won’t be sitting through both in a row today so will catch the regularly scheduled game.
  20. Et tu, jokin? You’re ‘strudelizing’ Astudillo’s name now, too?
  21. This is feeling a bit like 2016. Difficult to imagine there are teams who are worse. I think it just feels worse because of the hopefulness that 2017 inspired. Lesson learned. And yeah, whenever I come to Florida, I always have to pack warm clothing because honestly, setting your AC temp at 58 deg instead of a standard 70-74 is ridiculous, but that’s Florida for you. I’m currently enjoying my parents’ lanai. It’s humid out but the shade, the slight breeze from the ceiling fan and the hypnotic hum of the neighboring AC units make it rather nice, peaceful and relaxing. Safe travels.
  22. Everyone, please keep in mind that the purpose of this thread is to post articles on the Twins from Fangraphs and other national publications. Please do not blow this thread up into a ‘Dozier to the Dodgers’ trade discussion thread. If you feel it’s worthy of its own topic, I’m happy to split off the comments already made into its own thread, otherwise please don’t delve too deeply into this topic here.
  23. After reading that sequence and your explanation, I’m still thinking, ‘I think I needed to see that to understand that.’
  24. Sure. And I’m not trying to make light of anyone’s concern because it’s difficult when we don’t hear anything. The link I posted above was from a few days ago. Still doesn’t give the finality we want, but it does make it seem like signing Larnach is more or less a formality. We’ll just have to wait and see ... on pins and needles.
