  1. Bravo on not forgetting about Mejia as just about everyone else has. He’s out of options so he’s either on the team or traded. And I think he’s a solid pitcher and a lefty. The question would be is he a reliever or a starter or a stacker? (Yeah, don’t say ‘yes’ but that’s probably the answer.)
  2. I’m going to ask this with everyone’s blueprint, as I just did above in the blueprint thread ... where is Mejia? He’s out of options and too good to just let go, yet isn’t ‘top end’ guy but he’s a lefty. He will have to slot in somewhere. And I agree with the no thanks to Dozier. I’d rather see Lowrie or Forsythe at this point, but I think moving Polanco to 2nd and acquiring a better SS will give us better strength up the middle.
  3. Everyone seems to be leaving off Mejia ... is there a reason for that or just forgetting that he’s out of options? He will get claimed if just ‘let go’ so either he’s on the team or he’s traded. I think he’s shown promise of being a solid pitcher. He won’t be a top end starter but I think he can provide something somewhere.
  4. Good for him. He’s a good guy and works hard and deserves this opportunity.
  5. I’m currently in Florida. It’s really hard to tell what will happen here. My mom supported Grahm in the primary, but happily voted for Gillem. Rick Scott is just awful so I hope he goes down. If the Dems win big, I think your predictions of violence will ring true. If they lose big, I think we will still see violence, from the same people, as a confirmation of their ‘power’ over others.
  6. Sure. I know. But when answering a direct question from a reporter, what GM is going to say no? No GM is going to answer that question even if it might be obvious that they will, could or won’t be in on it. That’s more what I meant by that rhetorical question, that at this stage of the game, they aren’t going to publicize their plan too much. I just can’t take tweets too seriously. I actually think we’ll see movement on pitchers before we see movement on either Harper or Machado, but I could be wrong. I’m a horrible prognosticator.
  7. But what team isn’t going to be ‘in’ on those two? Of course everyone’s ‘in’ and no one is going to confirm otherwise.
  8. I still have a landline ... I have my reasons ... but I rarely answer. One of the names I get on the caller ID says ‘Not in service’ ... if it’s not in service, how are they calling? But this is off topic. Vote if you haven’t already! The cynic in me says it won’t matter that it’s already been ‘fixed.’
  9. Well, you could block them after you’ve answered and discovered it was worthless to have answered because they aren’t a potential client.
  10. Back on topic. If you want to express that Nick’s blueprint isn’t financially viable, fine, you’ve done so. What I’d like to see from you is YOUR off-season plan. If you think Nick’s here is too ‘pie In the sky’ then tell us specifically what and how you would do things differently and stop the lectures about how you know more than the rest of us on running multi-million dollar businesses. Put your money where your mouth is and give us specifics of who, what and how much, if you were GM. And if you had bothered to read through all the ones posted, by the owners and writers here and other posters, you’d see a wide range of ideas with plenty of fiscal conservativism, and much more to discuss than how we don’t know how to run a big business. This is a message board, not a board room. It’s for sharing and debating ideas. Telling us all we don’t know what we are doing is neither. Yes, this a moderator warning.
  11. Yeah, I’ll take Machado’s immaturity over that.
  12. Roy Hargrove, jazz trumpet, age 49
  13. I get that. And I don't think we have to worry about the Twins signing him. But given the list that Mike gave, I'll take Machado's antics over any of that. While childish and immature, it doesn't compare to the heinous nature of rape, manslaughter, child abuse/molestation or wife battery. He's still a player with a far better talent than anything we have and think that his immaturity can be tempered. I didn't hear reports of these antics being quite as pronounced when he played for Baltimore, but then maybe they were but just not given quite the attention as playing for the Dodgers has given him.
  14. Given this list of ... ‘qualities’ ... that have been given contracts, I’d take Machado any day over that. I still want him. We still won’t sign him, but not because of his ‘behavioral qualities.’
  15. Yes. In baseball, I think the path is revealed after you’ve traversed it not before. It seems more often than not we plan for one and get the other.
  16. The tortoise and the hare might disagree with you re the Lamborghini.
  17. Before this goes down the path of everything the Twins did and do wrong, that is not the topic of this thread. This is to just keep track of former players. Period. This isn't a thread to praise or condemn anyone or anything that led to a player's move to another club.
  18. What’s not to get? This is what fascist dictators do and need.
  19. Chaos and possible revolution. No. Yes.
  20. Um ... nothing really has been up to now.
  21. This gets discussed on and off. The short answer is no, nothing can be done, for now. You can comment further on this subject in these forum threads in the Questions forum: http://twinsdaily.com/topic/28591-two-spaces-after-a-period/?hl=%2Btwo+%2Bspaces http://twinsdaily.com/topic/21610-why-are-my-posts-reformatting/?hl=%2Btwo+%2Bspaces http://twinsdaily.com/topic/17104-if-youre-suffering-from-the-no-space-after-punctuation-issue-please-read/?hl=%2Btwo+%2Bspaces
  22. I don't think you say 'every' ... but you get so excited about positional flexibility I think you sometimes go overboard to make a point and then confuse us all, until we remember it's Brian.
  23. Easing him out like they did 'what's his name' with the ChiSox. (yeah, I know ... Hawk)
  24. Yeah ... I reposted it on FB and had a very difficult time trying to decide what to highlight ... so I did the opening, something from the middle and that summation above. Most excellent. The Atlantic also had a good article, too. Of course the minute I post these things, I get a couple of 'friends' who decry the Democrats as the ones really responsible in order to make Trump look bad. The few who still follow me, anyway.
