  1. Back when I was a kid, they had this nifty newfangled toy called a transistor radio. And it even came with an earpiece. Not unlike the size and shape of today's phones!
  2. Right, but the thought is that Tonkin shouldn't be used for more than one and maybe he will be more effective. The thought is that Molitor misused Tonkin by using him for more innings and maybe if there are others for long relief, Tonkin can assume the proper role. But Molitor ...
  3. I've wondered the same thing. But then I also wonder if he isn't 'safe' because of who he knows.
  4. And I wonder if Molitor will even use them and not resort to ... Tonkin ... as the long man. I don't know if I agree with some opinions here, but many think Tonkin was misused last year. But since Tonkin is there, what's stopping Molitor from using him in the wrong role again? Blech. I don't think I'm making sense this morning, even for me.
  5. I think I mostly said that trying not to spew. What do I know?
  6. I don't think delaying decisions on players is not knowing them but rather not sure they want to lose them yet. I don't know. I'm just trying to come up with logical explanations that don't make me hurt so bad with disappointment.
  7. Well, that would be my hope. I think (hope?) there will be some roster shuffling before the month of April is over.
  8. I think the back up might be Grossman in the short term, Vargas or Park eventually. As I said, I think this roster is just a delay on making firmer decisions that impact actually losing players they may not yet want to lose, for whatever reason. But it's still ... what it is.
  9. I think they designed this roster in order to delay decision making on some of the players. And I'm not qualifying that as a bad or good thing ... yet.
  10. So, once Adrianza is off the DL, does he have a spot on the roster? In place of whom?
  11. Love? How about even like? All I can say in trying to have hope is that I hope a few of these guys are on a short leash and being given one last final 'Are we sure' look before replacing and removing them for prospects that should be up.
  12. They said there were 8 car trailers loaded. By the time I saw the five that were there, three had already departed.
  13. That was my confusion and why I posed the question. Thanks.
  14. With the comment made by Gibson, 'It was just how Castro called the game' ... is this him saying he liked Gimenez as well, or was he confused and just commenting how the game was called? If the former, wondering if that's a signal that Gimenez is our backup catcher headed north? Or has that decision been made already and I missed it?
  15. Such a nitpick, but the Twins and Red Sox are cross-county foes as neither team is inside the city limits of Fort Myers. Boston used to be in City of Palms Park, but now both teams are in Lee County but neither inside the city limits.
  16. So, you are asking who specifically made the decision? Not sure what you are getting at with all this ...
  17. Well, the TD report above did say this: <shrug> I guess that says enough for me.
  18. You'll be waiting a long time methinks, if you think the FO is going to give a detailed report of why they made the decision they did. But who knows, they might choose to enlighten us thoroughly.
  19. It's not the number of games, it's the number of innings and pitches thrown. Just coming in as a reliever to pitch an inning or an out for a handful of pitches is not stretched out enough to be starting games on the ML level, and I have my doubts whether or not he can be in a week. Had he even started in a game? Gone even 4 innings at a time, let alone 5 or 6, up to 70 pitches? I don't know for sure what work he got in on the side, but he definitely hasn't done that in games. And while Hughes hasn't been good, Berrios hasn't really been either in smaller samples, despite the youth and upside. I'm not excited about this, I don't even like it, but imo being on team PR, while I don't blame him for being so, set him back for the start of the season. He made the decision for them. If Hughes never gets it together by the time Berrios is stretched out enough in AAA, then make the switch, as soon as possible. Now, if they choose Duffy over Mejia, that will make me far less understanding as well as not liking it.
  20. Hughes has pitched in a more games and has had many more innings, with both ML and MiL games.
  21. It's both a bummer and not unexpected given the lack of work the WBC provided.
  22. I'm not surprised about Berrios. Not sure how I feel about it yet, but I'm not surprised. I think the writing was on the wall with the lack of innings he was getting in the WBC. It's unfortunate a player is 'penalized' for wanting to represent his country in the tournament, but at this time of year I'm not sure what else can be done or expected. But that's a discussion for a different thread.
  23. My family enjoyed meeting you, although my Dad has already forgotten it.
