    I'm fine with that move. Gordon is needed in the OF, imo, with Celestino out. And I'd rather Gordon, I guess, than Contreras? What a puzzle!

    That we have to replace 5 players while also dealing with all the injuries on the team isn’t something to discuss? Maybe you are correct, as the discussion isn't leaning toward discussing that, but instead wants to hash out the issues of 'personal choice' regarding vaccination instead.

    I don't think there is a blocking function ... I'll have to look into it (or, Brock will, as site administrator). But, there is an ignore function ... if you click on your user name and get into your settings, you should see an 'ignore' choice in there somewhere. It's not the same as 'blocking' as the other person can see your comments and respond to them, but it does help.

    Yes, we need bp help. That we agree on. How we get it, we disagree. As for 'good for the team' we've heard numerous reports of how well Correa has affected the clubhouse. Yes, he's earned those boos, but most players learn to ignore that. It's part of the game. And yes, whether or not we are 'real' contenders is still a question. I agree. But my stance on 'not trading' Correa was an 'IF' we are contending, which means, I, too, still question it. There may be good reasons to trade Correa mid season ... but not for bp help to help us contend. That, to me, wouldn't be a good or worthwhile trade.

    unfortunately, yes ... We have both said it earlier in the season, well, before the season started ... pitching was not addressed well, particularly bp pitching was not addressed well. And I will gladly eat crow if we make it through this season and into the playoffs without improving it some way, if they can. That said, they do need to improve it, but by trading Correa for bp help ... that's not the solution, imo

    Some of us are not convinced that Lewis will be more than just adequate at SS. In a small sample size this year, he held his own. We've heard for years that there is doubt that Lewis will remain at SS. So, that said, I'm not sure trading Correa, one of our best players, is the answer ... not for a team still in contention ... not for bullpen help. That would be an undersell of major proportions. We've already devoted a couple of threads to the whys and wherefores of trading/not trading Correa with some very sound reasoning. Despite being one of the best players in the game, he will not bring back what we need to cross the hump because people will not pay what he is worth, because they can't. And, in the meantime, then you've also traded away one of your best players, leaving you that much weaker at a position of highest importance. That's my opinion ... we will disagree, I'm sure ... but trading Correa for bp help would be a huge mistake.

    And move another 20% into retraining or better training. I mean ... sheesh ... when parents get by the police and into the school and get their own children out ... what is that? But, the bottom line for me ... this is a weapon that should be in no one's hands, period, let alone how easily purchased it was. Remove the access, (or at the very least put into place background checks, waiting periods, licensing), and there is no discussion here how the police mishandled things. When was Columbine? Twenty-some years ago? Talk about things never changing. How many dead? How many CHILDREN dead? All EASILY* preventable and senseless. (*easily, if not for politicians in Washington being bought and paid for by the NRA. Who, incidentally, banned guns at their convention ... think about that one.)

    It's been mentioned in more than a few articles that they have been planning for this since ST. However, what you can't always plan for is the number of injuries you have, too. So far we've been able to supplement our roster and it's worked out okay. But now, on top of the injuries, we have 5 other players who can't make the trip. That's a lot. Thankfully (or maybe not thankfully, won't know until the games are done), we can add players to the 26-man and remove them without penalty (covid rule). Toronto is a good team. Getting past them or getting equal to them is going to require our best team. We won't have that no matter how the FO plans for it, for one reason or another.

    I've said this in other threads ... I don't really care how well or poorly Berrios pitches (I mean, I don't wish the guy ill, I just don't care because he's on another team now). At the time of the trade, it was the right move to make. I think we got good pieces, fair pieces. Even if they don't turn out to be much, it was still the right trade to make at the time. For me it was a win-win right then and there, regardless of how anyone does into the future.

    Need? Whether or not anyone agrees, there was more need at 1st than anywhere else. And Miranda wasn't forced to learn 1st ... he's played first before, albeit not a lot, but he has. He's played all over the infield

    Actually, no, there weren’t the same requirements then. Last year, Canada gave MLB players an exemption, this year not so.

    You don't know that, at all. It's possible, or, it's possible he gets hurt worse playing elsewhere. Players get hurt. No amount of hindsight makes anything preventable

    Researched a little … there was an exemption last year for unvaccinated players of MLB. They were allowed to play last year in Canada, but that exemption ended in January, so this year is different and unvaccinated players are actually barred from entering the country which is different from last year. Simmons not going to Canada last year was not related to his vaccination status, but because of a visa status (he was in the process of applying for U.S. citizenship and wasn’t allowed to leave the country.) So, the 5 could be anyone. According to Reuse, it’s 4 pitchers and 1 position player. If true, 4 pitchers really hurts.

    Sanchez and Urshela also played in Toronto last year with the Yankees. But, it doesn’t really matter who, if Souhan is correct in that there are 5 players who cannot go to Canada, that is a lot to replace on top of all who are on the IL already.

    Yep ... the article posted above said they won't until Thursday, though ... they need to wait to finalize anything if there are injuries/whatnot
