  1. Rosario is #1, hands down. No contest. I’d put Cruz up there, too.
  2. Oh! The 1991 Halloween Blizzard! I remember that, that was really big!
  3. Hmmm, I really don’t hate anyone. Dislike maybe, but hate? Maybe the Yankees, in general, but no one specific. AJ had his moments. There was the nose thumbing mock that he did one game. At one time maybe A-Rod, but man, he’s become a really decent commentator. Eh, too much lately going around to think about who I hate, even in terms of loving to hate. I miss baseball.
  4. Oh, for sure, then they should say that, imo. And yes, I hope this is only a 2020 thing, but since they've talked about realignment in the recent past, they could be using 2020 as a way to ... shuffle it ... as they've talked about doing. I hate subterfuge! And has the question even been answered about the DH? I suppose home field calls it, but if this is the wave of the future hitting us now, that question is going to need to be answered sooner rather than later. But I'm still going to try and figure out the mileage for each division to see if it was truly done 'fairly'. I'm sure someone actually did do this, but I want to see for myself. What else have I got to do? No work now until September. But the way it just appears now, the East looks to have the easiest travel, and no way around that really, considering the cluster of teams in that area ... Philly, NY, Boston, DC. Still ... Pittsburgh will still be team to have to travel the most in either division, Atlanta a lot more in the central than the east, the rest of the central more to get to Atlanta, which is further (farther?) away than Pittsburgh to most of them, and if the East has to go to Florida anyway, it's should be easy enough to schedule teams to make that loop mostly at once, like they do when we travel to the west coast in a regular season.
  5. MOD WARNING: Matt has now cleared up what he meant ... could Bauer's off field activities be a detriment to clubhouse chemistry? That's it. That's the point of discussion. The debate isn't over the specifics of those activities and Matt didn't mention those specifics in the original article, I suspect, of the potential of turning this discussion to where it went. If you think those activities won't matter and how he pitches is all that does? Then fine, stick to that. If you think it does matter? Then fine, state that he wouldn't be a good fit in the clubhouse and why the clubhouse demeanor is important to the outcome of the performance on field. People went down this political discussion hole where it is not pertinent to this baseball discussion. Go to twitter if you want to argue over those specifics. My opinion on going to twitter is 'no thank you,' but to each his/her own. Stick to the baseball here on TD. Don't dredge up the specifics of a tangent and make them the topic. Some posts have been hidden or edited in the process of getting things back on track. If this line continues, warning points will be issued.
  6. Why would Atlanta be in the Central and not Pittsburgh? If they do this, that’s dumb, imo. If they are going to combine the two league’s divisions then Pittsburgh should stay in the Central and Atlanta in the East.
  7. Where were these possible divisions announced? But I’m good with any article that replays the Kepler home runs off Bauer. Good times.
  8. I admit, I got teary
  9. John Krasinski ... SGN (Some Good News) ... only saw this episode and don’t know how many he’s done, but worth the 15 minutes ... didn’t know where to put this, here, Music, Coronavirus ... but a reminder that the performing arts in our lives is important: https://youtube.com/watch?v=oilZ1hNZPRM&feature=youtu.be&fbclid=IwAR3Yn0c0KM1UlRJOPRp0ORqEMz1e50GTphjlgB5rgro1pk6KGNSab_72b2Y

  11. Thanks, heezy ... you’ve done it again
  12. Just a point of FYI for everyone, we have a whole other forum to discuss non-baseball related things, called the Sports Bar, found here: http://twinsdaily.com/forum/12-the-sports-bar/ And there is a thread in there, ‘Current TV’, to discuss any or all the shows you want. Or, if you want a specific discussion on a specific show, feel free to start your own discussion topic. Or any topic that isn’t baseball, for that matter.
  13. When I looked at this post of mine more ‘analytically’, I realized that these three, in that order, are my favorite players on the team. I think there is a strong correlation there.
  14. Oh Good Lord. You really need to consult with the right constituency before writing articles like this. Every single person is in the wrong place, except maybe Romo. I’d have to think a lot about it, but this is the start of the true ranking of handsomeness. 1. Rosario 2. Cruz 3. Romo
  15. Yeah ... that's why I wondered how/if players are being tested ... but then, will their families and friends be as well? The season opener is likely to be postponed, and the season shortened ... just not sure how/when this will happen. If they can't come into contact with one another, then they can't practice, either ... sooooooo ... I think we are looking at May or June for baseball to start.
  16. Yeah ... I'm selfishly wanting the games to be played and televised. I'm out of market anyway so am able to watch the games with my mlb plan. So ... play the game even if fans aren't allowed in the stadiums. I wonder if players are being tested ... and if one player comes up positive ... then what?
  17. I thought I read that in Japan they had discovered some getting reinfected? I'd have to do more googling ... but yes ... this serves as a reminder to be careful what information you are giving is legit. Edit: This wasn't what I read originally, but here is one article. They don't know for sure if it was faulty testing or if some were reinfected or they just don't know. They don't think it likely, but still too early to tell? But this is a dated article. https://www.nytimes.com/2020/02/29/health/coronavirus-reinfection.html
  18. The site censors some words for you ... for ****'s sake ... ****'s real ... ******* ... you get the gist. No one really needs to censor themselves, because the site will take care of it for you. That said ... don't over use this feature. Unless it's a game thread and things have gone south.
  19. But the infection rate is a lot higher ... more people will be infected. While the mortality rate may stay at a lower 1-2%, the total number of deaths may be higher. We just don't know yet. So yes, don't panic, but do be cautious. There also is a vaccine for the flu ... okay, it doesn't cover all strains, but it will lessen the severity if you do get it. I see no panic here in this thread on TD ... only people taking it seriously. I'm sure we have many posters here on TD who fall into one of the more vulnerable categories. Now ... if we hear people here are out buying 200 rolls of TP? That's panic. But doing due diligence to stop its spread is warranted. That is not panic. Be careful labeling people as panicky when they choose to follow protocols issued by the CDC, NIH, WHO ... When was the last time you saw an entire country being locked down? And until everyone has been tested and this has run its course, we don't know actual numbers of anything. While I'm not worried about myself, as I'm not in any high risk group, I am being very careful because of all the people I come in contact with throughout my day, especially my elderly mother. And I know several people who have asthma. It's for that reason I'm being cautious by trying to limit my contact with people and things, washing my hands more often, staying home rather than going out ... What we know is that this is a highly infectious strain. I think it wise that sporting events are being cancelled, postponed or played without an audience. I don't think that's panicking ... I think we're seeing officials follow protocols.
  20. It was a day later that it was announced. He could have been told then before it was announced. And Baldelli said he wasn’t exactly happy about, but understood. Honestly, I get it. I think he’s allowed some disappointment. But what he does over the next few weeks, then we’ll see what he does with it.
  21. Wow ... you guys read quite a bit more into those tweets than I did. I just read those as disappointed, not whiny ... and the 'I decide' I took as it's up to him. He knows what he has to do, now he has to go work on it and earn a call up.
  22. I didn’t see anything he wrote on twitter as ‘pissed.’ And remember Glen Perkins’ beginnings with the Twins?
  23. Well, the line missing from the Baldelli quote above was: "I can't say he was excited about it, but I think he was understanding." So yeah, not super jazzed. But ... it's up to him at this point ... go and do. He missed a week or so of camp. While I might have wanted to see him continue, they obviously felt he was far enough behind. He'll get his opportunity.
