  1. How do you know they weren’t given a second chance? They could have said their last offer was it, or they could have still not had the highest money.
  2. Again, the taxes have NOTHING to do with it. Absolutely nothing.
  3. No, that wouldn’t solve the problem. How does this change what the Mets have done this season? It doesn’t.
  4. So, if the Mets find nothing in his medicals, what then? Would SF face any kind of reprimand? And Correa will play 3rd for the Mets?
  5. Well, but it was a difference maker. We shouldn't be in rebuild mode at this time. People usually rebuild AFTER they've already had success. We haven't and now we are rebuilding? And signing a Correa, or any big name, does attract attention and other players ... because it makes us look like we are really trying to compete. Okay, so, I'm not suggesting the the FO isn't trying, but, by staying away from the FA market, all we are left with is development and trades ... and we can't develop what we don't or no longer have because we've traded it all. We are backed into a very difficult corner and have made it that much more difficult to be competitive. So, in essence, we will remain in rebuild mode for how long? Haven't we essentially been in rebuild mode since 2013, except for a season or two or hopefulness? This is my problem. It's not just Correa. It's the inactivity on the FA market for frontline players. We need those to compete, as well as the others. The FO has chosen a path that makes it nearly impossible to go the distance. As a fan, that's what I want. They are still my team, I will still cheer them on. But the miracle would be a team that beyond reason just clicks and gets it done. That's a huge hope for a fan like me when hope is waning.
  6. Are we, though? It's not just about not getting Correa. As much as I and others wanted the Twins to sign him, they lost out on other possible signings along the way, and not just at SS. That's what the issue is. Not just that we didn't sign Correa, but we didn't get the pitcher or a different SS or a RP. So who is left to sign? All the after thoughts, all the Happs and Shoemakers. Yes, we can trade, but trade who? Lewis? Lee? To get a frontline anyone, the conversation begins with them, maybe both of them. We have little else in our system that will bring back the difference maker.
  7. To me, this was a spend money to spend money move. And I don’t really get it.
  8. It's possible I have difficulties understanding what you are saying because you aren't saying it well, but before we get into a debate questioning one another's intelligence, let's not ... it's against site rules. We will just disagree.
  9. Yes ... they can't. I know they can't. It would be unprofessional. Still, I'm left ... just sad.
  10. If the twins offered 10/360 it would have been competitive. 10/285 was not. It’s not about the years
  11. Oh, come on ... and quite a bit short on the money. Seriously. And Correa is a better SS. It wasn't the years, it was the total dollar amount
  12. Perhaps I’ve just cherry-picked your thoughtful response to this situation, but I keep coming back to these two points. They knew they had to keep it close, yet they were no where near close. And they knew Boras, where the highest bid wins (most of the time), yet we were so far from it. I get the disciplined part, too. But they were just so far off the mark. And yet we outsiders had a better sense of what it would take. Many here wouldn’t have gone that high, some would, but we all had a better sense than 285/10. We saw what other SS were paid both this and last off season. I have a difficult time accepting this is just a disciplined approach. I don’t doubt their sincerity in wanting to do a good job. I understand how it feels when outsiders judge your work when they have little to no understanding of what you do and how it all works. But how could they seriously not know they were so far off the mark? This leaves me, the fan, defeated and wondering if we will ever have a winning team again. We are left with development and trade as a means to an end, and it will never be enough in this environment. We may get lucky and one year just have that ‘special’ team, when it all just clicks, but that is too much hope. I’ll keep watching, sort of, but winning matters in the end. And disciplined is just not going to win.
  13. Proven and consistent winning team, I should have said ... :)
  14. Okay ... time to bring on the trades!

  15. Whoa ... my small little table of collectibles couldn't handle that ...
  16. Yes, yes, yes and YES!!!! Did I say yes? Yes! Yes!
  17. Yep. We keep playing for the future, never for the now. For once I wanted to see the 'now' ... and for all these people saying 'Good, I'm glad' ... they'd better not complain about the SS in game threads this coming season ? We certainly could have matched the dollars, but chose not to. I'm glad we don't have a 13-yr contract, though, so ... disappointed but not overly surprised. Hope now they go all in and get one quality starter and two quality BP arms. And hope the infield can keep down the hits.
  18. For once, I whole heartedly agree with you ?
  19. Maybe. And in a few years. So we play the wait game that never comes on prospects. Playing for the future is what we’ve been doing the last 10 yrs. Goodie, we’ll keep doing that. It’s a winner, That said, 13 yrs is ridiculous and as disappointed as I am, I’m glad the Twins wouldn’t match that.
  20. So, he prefers the Yankees ... does that mean if he doesn't go there, he's going to have a piss poor attitude a la Lance Lynne from a few years ago when he doesn't get what he wants? That said, he'll be going to the Yankees.
  21. That is no longer an issue so I think we can now move on from this subject
  22. That’s the bad part of this sport. I still miss Escobar. But for the right price, I’d trade anyone because that’s how it works ?
  23. That was a previous management. We traded with them last year and it wasn’t that bad
