  1. Well, #s 20-11 are rather uninspiring. The top 10 isn't terrible. My favorite is the end quote to the article, "With his induction into the Hall of Fame, Blyleven is the only pitcher in the ranking to be inducted—yet.Who knows, someday Scott Baker could end up joining him."
  2. Gotta admit, Casey Fien was not in my memory so thanks for the flashback. I had purposely blocked Kevin Jepsen from my mind.
  3. We go to the home opener and my wife always cries during the pregame ceremonies.
  4. Parker, the posts in this series seem almost therapeutic to you.
  5. The 1965 team is the greatest regular season Twins team. Losing a World Series game 7 to a legendary Dodgers team is the only obstacle keeping the 1965 Twins from leading the conversation as the greatest Twins team ever.
  6. Yeah, that was a fun night. Since it was my birthday, my wife and I left the children at home. At the time, that was a 5th grader, 4th grader, 3rd grader, and 3 year old. So, kind of a big deal. Arcia never came close to meeting potential with the Twins or after. Too bad since he was a likeable guy.
  7. Personal favorite was 4/25/16, Oswlado Arcia vs. Cleveland. It was my birthday so it was a nice present.
  8. Ron Burgundy: "Boy, that escalated quickly. I mean, that really got out of hand fast."
  9. Any list where Puckett isn't #1 has me at least a bit skeptical. I can't quibble with Killebrew and Carew over Puckett for best hitter, though. How about Kent Hrbek instead of Mauer.
  10. That 1979 Pittsburgh championship team was very fun and colorful. "We Are Family" was a blast! I need to stand tall for those uniforms - they were totally awesome! Especially the hats.
  11. Very sobering for those of us hoping for baseball in 2020 that Falvey and St. Peter are basically shrugging their shoulders with no solutions. I can't blame them, there is so much unknown that unless society starts to get some real good news in the next 30 days, my gut keeps telling me no MLB in 2020. I hope I am wrong.
  12. Johan Santana on the Mets. Knoblauch on the Yankees. Glad that Hrbek and Puckett were only ever on the Twins.
  13. My gut says no season and I hope I am wrong.
  14. The way things are going I don't think there will be a 2020 MLB season. The CDC advice on 50+ gatherings for the next 60 days is sobering and not good news for an MLB season. The best case scenario I see is a July 1 start date, 81 game season. Pessism is not my default stance. It's difficult to see things turning around any quicker.
  15. If we are already to Kirby remembrances, this is going to be a long cold stretch of no baseball.
  16. I will add "Why Baseball Matters" by Susan Jacoby. She does a decent job of building a case as to why the sport is still relevant. Also, the stories of her childhood growing up in a baseball neighborhood in New York City truly resonate.
  17. This was awkward, yet a nice distraction from reality.
  18. Yeah, my first impression is that the Phillies guys were heads over heels for Royce. It is good confirmation from another set of eyes.
  19. Yes, analytics has missed the boat on Eddie. He still put bat to ball 32 times for a bomba in 2019. For fun, I looked at the other MLB players who hit 32 HRs in 2019: Charlie Blackmon, Manny Machado, Ketel Marte, Francisco Lindor, and Rafael Devers. It's an interesting list to say the least and I wonder if any of them get the same amount of heat that Eddie does.
  20. Who knows what things will look like when all the impacts from the coronavirus on scheduling are done?
  21. It's refreshing that the expectation coming from the team is a World Series championship. Minnesota sports fans of men's professional sports teams have been plagued long enough by moral victories, rebuilding efforts, and windows of opportunity slammed shut too soon. I watched the highlights of the Nationals World Series run and that fan base was having the times of their lives.
  22. I think you have to be 21+ for the free pop from Budweiser. They used to check IDs, yet seemed to stop last season. One other cheap food option I forgot is the family section. Tickets in the family section has a free soda and hot dog built into the cost of the ticket so it's a great deal. I still stand tall on the value of the family confession stand. You could get a hot dog, soda, and peanuts/popcorn there for $9 in 2019 (nearly 50% odf) since the same treats were $17.50 at the standard concession stand. Here are the 2019 prices from the link spycake provided: Hot dogs -- Family value: $4 | Regular: $5 • Peanuts/popcorn -- Family value: $3 | Regular: $6 • Soft pretzels -- Family value (two soft pretzel sticks): $4 | Regular (pretzel with cheese): $7 • Nachos -- Family value: $4 | Regular (slightly larger size): $7 • Pepsi, Diet Pepsi, Mountain Dew, Sierra Mist -- Family value (16 oz.): $2 | Regular (24 oz.): $6.50 • Budweiser, Bud Light -- Family value (12 oz.): $5 | Regular (20 oz.): $9
  23. Last season they put a cheaper concession stand in right field. You have to use the self serve kiosk when you order and pay with credit/debit card. The prices are about 50% off so you can get by with something like a hot dog & chips for about $5/person. Then, in left field, Budweiser has a booth where you can pledge not to drink and drive and they will give you a coupon for a free soda. Also, you can still bring your own food into Target Field. Just some thoughts to make it more affordable for you, it's what I do.
  24. I don't remember the old Gardy/Terry Ryan Twins Way as ever being thought of or referenced as modern or forward thinking in its time. The small ball/pitch to contact/Pirahna ways always seemed old school.
  25. Don't rush it and nurse him along until fully healthy. I'd rather see Buxton in October than Buxton in March.
