  1. There are infinite trade possibilities, and everyone knows we need relief pitching and a catcher. But in addition there are a few internal moves that should have been made days or weeks ago. -Arcia needs to be up here. Torii Hunter does not need to play every day as his BA slips towards the .240's. Frankly, neither does Rosario. There's no reason he can't be in the line-up every time there's a RH starer. There's plenty of AB's for Arcia, especially until/unless Buxton returns. -Santana needs to be the corresponding demotion. For a couple weeks you could at least say his defense was better. It's not anymore. Escobar has never been given an extended run at SS. Time to give him one. -Pelfrey and May need to switch spots. Pelfrey's fully turned into a pumpkin and has stuff better suited for the BP than May. -If we don't get another catcher, at least play Suzuki less. Fryer can't hit either, but at least he's not God awful at throwing out runners.
  2. If the later of those two were enough I'd do it in a heartbeat. Including Berrios gives me pause. He's the only thing we have resembling a true ace in the near-term. It's hard to win a World Series with Kyle Gibson or Phil Hughes as your best pitcher.
  3. Well this game was over quickly.
  4. I'm all for upgrading C, but not if it means we have to overpay. We don't need an All-Star, just someone who won't allow a conga line around the bases and can hit .250-.260.
  5. The teams two glaring leads lost this game. The no-hit 'defensive' catcher allowed the tying run to go to second in the 9th and the bullpen blew it in the 10th aided by 143rd stolen base we've allowed.
  6. I recall a win over the Brewers in the 90's that was from 6 or 7 down in the 9th and one against Cleveland from ~2000. But neither of those were in a pennant race against a team chasing you.
  7. 4 ER in 7 2/3. Not that great.
  8. Pelfrey now as a 4.00 ERA. Can we get over the idea that he has to stay in this rotation? I really hope he and May swap after the AS Break.
  9. Yeah, leaving Pelfrey in...not a great idea.
  10. Yes, call him up. 39 year-old Torii Hunter does not need to play every day. Arcia can take a couple starts a week from him. Rosario also does not need to play every day, and can spell Hicks once a week in center. It won't be that hard to get Arcia 3-4 starts a week against RH.
  11. I wish Drew Butera was our every day catcher. I long to see Eric Fryer in the line-up.
  12. This team needs less Suzuki and Hunter and more Arcia and Fryer/anyone else.
  13. Somewhere Gardy is going 'damn, why didn't I think of that, when I was betting Mike Redmond 3rd?'
  14. Great outing by Gibby. Cross him off the 'which starter gets demoted' list. (J/K I know he was never on it.)
  15. This post has exceeded the maximum # of cliches allowed.
  16. So has Milone. So has May. And Pelfrey makes more sense out of the pen than either of them. I suspect May will go down though.
  17. Thompson for Theilbar is such a no-brainer there's no excuse for it to go on even another day. Tonkin for Oliveros or someone else needs to happen too. Right now you're keeping 8 pitchers, and 4 of them are utterly useless. (Thompson, Duensing, Tonkin and Graham to a lesser extent.)
  18. We're still two weeks out. Why worry about it yet? The Minnesota sports gods will provide as soon as they're done torturing Gopher Basketball and stalking Teddy Bridgewater.
  19. Under no circumstances do I want him on the team next year. But you're getting a marginal prospect at best. It's not worth it unless they've fallen completely out of the race by 7/31.
  20. This. The PR hit, in public and even more in the clubhouse would not be worth it. I think TR learned his lesson when he traded Castillo for Drew Butera in 2007 and Johan and Hunter pretty much refused to even discuss extensions with him after that.
  21. I've been a relative Mauer defender, but clearly something is wrong. I'd think a DL stint to clear his head would be in order at minimum. Mourneau's 2014 gives me some hope that he can partially bounce back, even if it takes far longer than we thought.
  22. http://www.startribune.com/miguel-sano-could-be-called-up-soon-molitor-says/307657841/ Do it, TR! If this descent to .500 can't be stopped, at least make 8 AB's a game can't-miss....
  23. This one's on the manager.
  24. Molly doing some managin'. Did Gardy trap you in a room since Wednesday? Blink twice if yes.
