  1. For all the love the Royals get from non-Royal fans, Ventura sure is an @ss.
  2. Agreed. Bill did some good things and some bad (Nishioka). He was not demonstrably worse than TR despite the narrative.
  3. I would have liked to see Plouffe in RF too. But with Sano's hamstring I think we have seen him at 3B for the last time in 2015. So it's irrelevant. The other option would be to put Mauer out there, but that won't happen. I hope they ask him to play some OF in 2016, however. For 2015, the only way Vargas is getting starts is if Mauer sits, which he should 2-3 times a week.
  4. The OF defense saved this game. Hunter's butt should be welded to the bench...
  5. I'm not feeling a win here....
  6. Eddie stealing the clutch name from Kurt...
  7. The past robs the future. Darn you Carlos.
  8. +1. that works for now. In 2016 I'd like to see Hicks, Buxton, Sano, Dozier 1-4. But Buxton's clearly not ready to hit 2nd.
  9. I suspect Buxton will be relegated to the Shane Robinson role. Playing 2-3 times/week for Hunter. That should really be reversed.
  10. It should be. It won't be. Maybe when Hughes comes back, but no sooner than that.
  11. BS. I was fine with the Jepsen trade and did not advocate trading any top prospects at the deadline. I simply want them to use the 25 best players in the organization. And Kepler and Berrios are better than Pelfrey and Hunter, etc.
  12. Most GM's don't last for two decades +. So in those 20-30 years, it's unfair to want at least a WS appearance? In any case, I didn't say that was the benchmark. I said it was the fact that he will never pick a season to even 'go for it'. Oakland did it last year. It didn't work out, but I still applaud them for doing it. 2015 is not that year for the Twins. But 2016, 17 or 18 might be. And Terry Ryan will play it safe and worry about 2023 and 2024. 20 years of history says so. Calling up Berrios is a fairly minor move that gives the current squad their best chance to make the play-offs. But it was still too much to ask. Too risky. The 30 + innings he's thrown the last 3 weeks for Rochester were somehow less risky. Enjoy watching Mike Pelfrey make 5 more glorious.
  13. I think you have to ramp him up for Spring Training as a starter, but if he's not clearly better than Berrios/Duffy/Nolasco than absolutely put him back in the 8th inning role.
  14. If they had called him up 3 weeks ago, he probably could have pitched the rest of the season out of the bullpen and not hit the innings cap he'll hit on Saturday. Eventually you have to decide it's your year and go for it. I'm not saying 2015 is that year for the Twins. I'm saying I have absolutely zero confidence that it will ever that year as long as TR is the GM.This decision reeks of that mindset. Accordingly, the Twins will most likely never win a World Series as long as he's employed. That's depressing as a fan.
  15. Who said anything about trading prospects? And I get the inning limit, but he should have been up here 3-4 weeks ago. This is all about not wanting to cost themselves control of him in 2022 by using him for 2 months in 2015. Period. In isolation, it's not a bad decision. But it's the same decision Terry Ryan will make in 2022 about another prospect when Berrios is an ace facing free-agency and we have one last shot at a WS. In 21 years as a GM tomorrow has never come. If it didn't in 2006, it never will.
  16. Torii's just in a little 200 at-bat slump. He's due to snap out of it anytime as 40 year-olds do. The key is to keep running him out there.
  17. Terry Ryan: Worrying 7 years into the future since 1994. The time to worry about the 2015 was 2008. Terry wasn't employed then. Anything that does or doesn't happen with this team is not his fault. There's nothing to be done about it now...
  18. Sano is amazing. Hunter is hitting behind him, why would you even throw him a strike?
  19. Yes. We may want Hicks to play CF though...
  20. Hunter will be down to .231 after this at-bat. Can Plouffe play RF if we call up Vargas?
  21. This game's going to get Pelfrey'd in a hurry.
  22. It is amazing that this question is so hard to answer for a potential play-off team. Gibson for me, if he turns it around even a little between now and then.
  23. It's easier to enter Spring Training assuming he's a starter, then put him back in the BP when needed. But unless he's clearly better than Berrios/Duffey, it makes more sense to have him in the BP than both of them in AAA.
  24. Holy over-reaction, Batman! Buxton was completely lost at the plate tonight and Hermann has been swinging well lately. It was hardly ideal, but Buxton wasn't hitting a HR there, so relax.
