You're over-thinking it. I don't care how weird it was, it got the job done. It was the top of the 7th, not the bottom of the 9th.

So, we should be outside TR's house with torches? They've made their choice, there's no sense getting this wound up over a very difficult play. There will be more coming.
  3. howeda7
They're the two most recent people the Twins have run out there though...
  4. howeda7
Agreed. It's one thing if it's June and he's 2 for his last 50. But he's usually better early, and all we needed was a sac fly, which we got.

Torii Hunter wouldn't have caught it. Neither would have Oswaldo Arcia.

The Twins may be rusty, but it's good to see TD in mid-season b!$%ing form. 8 straight losses on Opening Day is pretty remarkable though. Positives Park, Esco, Mauer, Sano didn't kill anyone or injure himself. Negatives: Dozier and Plouffe, Fien, Jepsen.

They won't want make fans sit there for hours and then go up against the national title game. I'm sure it'll be moved to Tuesday if the forecast doesn't change.

If you had posted it in conjunction with 'Twins hire Gardy to manage Red Wings' I'd have believed it...

It's the right decision. I hope Quentin accepts the assignment. There will be a spot by May 1st. There always is.

Mutter 'at least he's better than Mike Pelfrey, right?' over and over quietly while rocking back and forth for the duration of his starts.

You don't want sign someone just to sign someone. Sometimes the greatest signings are the ones you don't make. We talked to every free agent 5 times. Nothing was the right fit.

While i would love the Twins to make a move like this, the comp is probably trading Hicks for him. If they don't do something, it will be sign 999 that TR should retire.

I would absolutely do it. Nolasco hates it here. Anyone who talks to them into how he's just sure to bounce back this year is kidding themselves. Meanwhile, Shields may be due for a decline, but it's hardly a certainty. As others have said, he's 34, not 40. And there's no doubt he's better than Nolasco. The Twins can afford the extra $$. Do it.

I'm a bit ashamed to admit, my first reaction to the news was Yes! Oh thank God!. Torii is an all-time Twins great. And thanks for the memories! But I was not looking forward to grinding my teeth as he took 300 + AB's away from Buxton/Rosario/Kepler/Arcia while hitting a heart .230 again. I'm pretty glad I won't have to. When (if) we win the WS in 2-4 years, Torii will have played a part.

I don't have a strong opinion on this addition in particular. But I'm very glad that the Twins are spending $ every year to keep Target Field first class, and I'm surprised at all the complaints in this thread. They are taking an area that was largely unused and upgrading it. Why get upset about that? And FWIW my nieces and nephews have enjoed many games at TF. It's as kid friendly as you make it, as are most things, IMO.

Pelfrey's chariot turns into a pumpkin crashes and explodes into a Halloween horror scene faster than anyone I've ever seen...
  17. howeda7
Gibson, Santana, Duffey (only need 2 more starts) Hughes, Pelf and Milone can draw straws...
  18. howeda7
No worries about next year either. Terry Ryan is furiously negotiating an extension as we speak...
  19. howeda7
So, Gibson to start game 163, Pelf to start the WC game?
  20. howeda7
Yes. And we won't PH Vargas for Suzuki because reasons...
  21. howeda7
Why is Tonkin in this game? If Hughes is available he should be in there. Or Achter. Anyone else.
  22. howeda7
This loss is on Dozier. 3 games this week we should have won choked away. Ugh. At least Pelfrey's pitchin tonight...
  23. howeda7
I started watching this at 2:15 and caught up to live. Only 3 pages? What gives...
  24. howeda7
    Season crushing loss. Uff da.
  25. howeda7
I won't shed too many tears when Plouffe is traded in December...
