  1. Regarding Mauer, there's not enough other pieces to move him out of the 'middle' if you mean getting him to 7 or below. But I think Hick, Mauer, Dozier, Sano, Plouffe, Rosario makes a lot of sense for the first 5. Not sure how much that tweak changes anything though. If Escobar starts swinging better, you could insert him at #2 and drop Mauer to 6th.
  2. No doubt. But they had an opportunity to do it. I almost wish Pelfrey had been Pelfrey and put us out of our misery early. He bought himself at least 3 more starts today.
  3. Throwing a strike to Cruz in that spot is just foolish. And using Duensing over O'Rourke was similarly foolish. They should not have lost this game.
  4. It was fun Torii. But you coming back in 2016 will be frustrating to watch.
  5. The offense is sputtering. Hunter is one AB away from the .240's. Remind me again why we can't have Arcia on this team?
  6. I took it as 'we should match what the Blue Jays did.' I think Lucroy and Chapman would be similar given our needs? It seems like the general consensus here was, don't go crazy, but don't do nothing. That's pretty much what the Twins did and people are still upset. I would have like one more move, but I didn't want them to do anything foolish. Trying to match Toronto or KC's moves would have been, IMO.
  7. I suspect we're back to an 8 man pen with Santana sent down. We only have 4 SS's right now. How will we survive with 3 tonight and 2 starting tomorrow?
  8. So you're saying the people flipping out over giving up Hu for Jespen would have been praising TR if he'd traded Buxton and Berrios for Lucroy and Chapman?
  9. My god, some people are so dramatic. This is a very minor trade. I'm no fan of Terry Ryan, but he can't win with some of you. We wanted him to get bullpen help, but not give up a top 10 or 15 guy. That's exactly what he did. Maybe Jespen is not the guy most of us would have picked, but he's hardly the last guy either, IMO. I'd rather have him than Benoit since his 2016 salary won't be outrageous. I wish they'd done this a week ago. I wish it had been for Clippard. I wish they'd get a catcher. But this is hardly a disaster. Take a deep breath.
  10. Since we won't buy, can we still sell 'high' on Hughes?
  11. Yeah. The way he plays is what makes him great, but he also seems like a guy who will have trouble staying on the field because of it. I would certainly consider trading him if the price was right. If you could get say Lucroy and Segura for Buxton and Santana/Polanco do you do it? I'm not sure. But I wouldn't reject the idea out of hand.
  12. No GM has ever worked so hard at the trade deadline to do so little. I'd rather he just said 'I don't believe in trading prospects for help at the deadline and I won't do it. Stop asking.' At least it'd be honest.
  13. Taken directly from Terry Ryan's July 31 press conference notes circa 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2015. (It's impolite not to cite your source)
  14. If they take Nolasco, I would do it. Then you can either flip Shields in the off-season, or potentially Hughes or Santana for a C or SS.
  15. I don't think the issues with the 'Twins Way' such as trying to make David Ortiz hit to RF have that much to do with being a GM. I respect TK's eye for talent. I'm not sure I'd want him actually being the GM though.
  16. Yes. It is time. I've been off the TR bandwagon since 1997. But he was tolerable for a stretch. No longer. As frustrating as doing nothing this year will be, it will be worse in 2016, 17 and 18 as we have a team increasingly capable of going for it. But TR will still hoard his prospects saving for tomorrow. Always tomorrow. However, I have zero confidence in Jim Pohlad or Dave St. Peter to hire his replacement. They've all but declared TR GM for life because they have no clue what to do without him. Ziggy Wilf may be a NJ shyster, but at least we know he won't cling desperately to Rick Spielman or anyone else if they don't win. .
  17. Joe Mays is a decent LB in the NFL.The Twins should look into acquiring him for an 8th inning role. He can't be worse than Boyer.
  18. Granted I am referring to the mainstream TC media. A blog/site read only by diehards doesn't generate much heat...
  19. You didn't enjoy watching Rich Becker, Scott Stahoviak and Matt Walbeck? They were top prospects!
  20. It feels like TR could be here another 10 years, make 0 play-offs and get zero heat. It's frustrating for anyone who was watching the Twins before 2001.
  21. From your lips to God's ears. As bad as Pelf is at times, he might our best righty in the BP .(hopefully only until Friday).
  22. Perk goes through a stretch like this every year. Hopefully this is the end of it. This loss is still on Duensing/the manager/the general manager.
  23. Just announce there's 'no fit' right now TR and put us out of our misery.
