  1. Agreed. Though it isn't all one or the other. Trading Pelfrey could be part of helping this team, in a 3-way trade if not directly.
  2. Santa, Vargas AND Arcia for Reddick? Good god.Unless you're convinced they're all garbage, that's WAY too much to give up. I'd rather just get a catcher for now and see where things are in a month.
  3. Well that's ballgame. Who's starting the 'when will the Twins fall below .500?' thread? I want July 1st.
  4. Buxton is not needed as long as Hicks is competent. However, Pinto should be up over Hermann at a minimum. And outside help should be an option, but outside of last year with Morales, that usually means Brett Boone to Terry Ryan.
  5. Great 1st step. They still don't need 9 relievers. I'd rather call up Pinto or keep Polanco.
  6. I was with him until the jersey tossing. There's riling up the troops and there's over-the-top and acting like a 4-year old. He crossed the line. That said, I'm over it. It should be a fine only.
  7. Come on Gibby. Pull yourself together!
  8. Agreed. Neither Duensing or Thompson are getting anyone out right now. They need at least one lefty.
  9. Santana, Duensing and Stauffer should be gone. Vargas, Pinto, and Oliveros up; But they will likely do none of the above.
  10. Wanna bet? I'd love to be wrong, but if they didn't cut him by now, there's no reason to think it's coming.
  11. That little punk that started for Milwaukee still has never beaten us. Thanks Joe!
  12. Mauer hitting 3rd is not a major problem at the moment. They are currently trotting out a line-up with at least 3 black holes (Suki, Santana and DH) and Hicks should still be nowhere near the top 5. So realistically, you can't drop him any lower than 5th anyway, and that's not better. If Mauer is still hitting 3rd when Sano, Vargas and Buxton are on the team, that's a whole other thing. I don't think they'll be that stubborn. It's far more important to fill at least one of the black holes, and at least partially cover a 2nd by getting Pinto up here and letting him catch a couple times a week.
  13. At a minimum, send Santana down, put Escobar at SS call up SOMEONE else and platoon them with Nunez if we're not allowed to have Pinto or Arcia or Vargas.
  14. It's a pretty small nit to pick, but it was fairly obvious that Pelfrey had lost it in the 7th. He left a meatball up 0-2 on the double and then multiple on the next hitter who walked. Realistically, I know almost no manager takes him out there, but knowing you're not scoring anytime soon, you almost had to. He's still Mike Pelfrey, not Max Scherzer.
  15. Agreed, that after the double-header, Stauffer, Santana and Hermann should go, Milone, Pinto and either Arcia or Vargus up. I don't think you go straight Polanco at SS at this point. Escobar hit well when he played every day and didn't have to move around. He deserves 3-4 weeks playing SS every day to see if it can turn his bat on. But this BS at DH needs to stop.
  16. This is what should be done. Hermann brings nothing and is playing once a week.
  17. The idea that he is the 'worst' was always ridiculous. On the Twins alone he is far superior to Arcia and Willingham last year. Clearly he's below average, but he still gets to 90% of the balls he should and appears to have learned his own limitations so as not to play singles into triples a la 2006 play-offs.
  18. Vargas for Pinto should happen ASAP. I hope Vargas can be back sooner than later. Santana should also be sent down. Not sure who takes his spot (Beresford?) Finally, Boyer for Pressly or Tonkin. (this should have happened weeks ago.)
  19. It will be a miracle if we get out of this tied. Pelfrey is still trash. DFA him now and be down with it.
  20. Hey, it's Spring the time for eternal optimism, a new manager, etc. But this certainly takes the wind out of the sails. I want to believe that Pelfrey will be not awful and the net effect of this is only a couple wins. But it still sucks. I was already having visions of the bullpen costing us about a win a week. It's pretty hard to be optimistic at this point.
  21. +1, A couple days ago it sounded like Malone was the front-runner? Personally, I'd give Malone a shot with a very short leash to May and Meyer.
  22. So did Tom Kelly (Pags and Leus) I thought a platoon has made sense the last couple years with Hicks and Pressley or Pressley/Mastro. It certainly does again.
  23. Not often. Most owners don't get to be billionaires by being morons.
  24. OK. I'll take that bet. What's the wager?
  25. What's the benefit of front-loading it? There's no salary cap and Jim and Billy are out the same $$ either way. Doing that to enable your own arbitrary salary cap is the height of stupidity. There's still time value of money at work. If I was Pohlad and Ryan told me that I'd fire him.
