  1. The only thing that makes sense is that Rocco has pictures of Joe and/or Derek doing something illegal. It would be stupid to do a massive sell-off of players when you can dump Derek and Rocco and be rid of the problem by cutting off the head of the snake.
  2. Some teams seem to make it work, it hasn't worked for the Twins.
  3. The bottom line however; is being the last team standing and winning the World Series, the Twins have shown for the past 34 years they are not there.
  4. The Twins trading pitching for hitting is always a dumb idea. You can never have too much pitching. Hitting is always easier to find than pitching. Keep in mind that both pitching and hitting take time to develop.
  5. I agree 100% this is a problem. Another case of MLB and the MLBPA looking out for the stars and saying "who cares" to the others. Baseball needs both types of players.
  6. I don't see even see Buxton staying in Minnesota through his current contract unless the Twins get to a World Series. Buxton wants to play for a winner more than stay and play for one team. He will waive his no-trade to get sent to a winning team.
  7. Every day each of us takes risks in life, that is the nature of living life. We all take risks just crosssing the street. If we could eliminate all risks, life would not be worth living.
  8. Over the years I have changed my opinion on putting certain players off-limits in trade talk. I am now of the opinion that no player should ever be off-limits in trade proposals. Baseball like in life should be that everything and everyone is available, it is just a matter of how much it will take to get the item or player you covet. No risk, no reward.
  9. I agree with some of the other posters here, I doubt the Marlins trade Luzardo for Larnach even up. As for trading Lewis, it would take some gonads to do that swap but I would do it. Hitters are easier to find than starters, particularly lefty starters.
  10. That has to be one of the worst trade offers for the Twins that I have ever seen on this site. Wowsers!
  11. Hard swing and misses won't help your back one bit. Maybe all these strikeouts are putting a hurting on the batters in more ways than one.
  12. John, Glad to see that you are giving our Halsey Hall chapter of SABR some press. I hope some baseball fans check it out and and become SABR members. Thanks.
  13. You never have enough pitching..... If you want to trade somebody then trade some hitters that don't play everyday and are often injured. I will let you determine who they might be. That said, why do people think the Twins have payroll concerns? Yes they have some dead weight but that will be hard to move. The payroll is OK for now and the future always has a way of working itself out.
  14. Good answer, you are one of the few that believe that. I agree with you 100%.
  15. Nothing sticks to Dave St. Peter yet he appears to have few accomplishments on his resume. He must be the prototypical "yes" man that ownership likes. He certainly has the ability to talk a good story but yet say nothing.
  16. Ideally the Twins need to sweep the Guards but that is unlikely. They need to at least win 3 of 4 in order to keep their quickly dimming wild card hopes alive. Anything less than 3 wins is almost a disaster with the season end just around the corner.
  17. Who cares about the Texas Rangers? The Twins have their own problems.
