  1. A Falvey mistake that keeps on haunting us. Correa wanted to be gone and it was best for all concerned but Correa should be paying Houston the $10 million a year versus the Twins.
  2. That all depends on how long Buxton wants to play. Some players can't walk away from the game, they need the jersey ripped off their back. Look at Killebrew, seeing him in a Royals jersey is just plain wrong.
  3. Caratini should be an emergency first baseman and the back-up catcher. He doesn't hit enough to be the DH, not a good first baseman, and is slower than molasses.
  4. "putting the Twins in a position to be aggressive, flexible, and maybe even a little opportunistic" The keyword here is "position"
  5. I agree with the fact that the timing is very unusal and strange. That means that something catastrophic happened between Falvey and ownership. I'm not saying that it was necessarily the Pohlad's. Could it have been the minority owners that helped swing this stick? Guess we will have to wait and see what happens next. As they say in the public relations business, no news is bad news. The Twins can use all the press they can because they have ceased to exist in the eyes of many fans.
  6. Nick, you should have put number 17 as number 1. An interesting list, does a team with that many questions play .500 ball? Does a good starting staff carry you far enough or does a bad bullpen negate that?
  7. I will believe it when I see it as far as ranking Prielipp above Ober.
  8. Why not? high reward for a low risk. Twins would be fools not to take a shot at Rule 5.
  9. Falvey had better hope that Jackson can catch and hit because catchers get hurt and suffer concussions, you can't count on Jeffers catching 80% of the games. I see the Twins picking up more catching "bench".
  10. I would not trade any of these guys at this time until we see how they play under Shelton as their manager. If a trade is warranted than do so at the trading deadline. Yes there is a chance one or more of these guys will not perform up to expectation and your trade return will be less. That said, I am willing to take take less on a young player that fails than trade a young guy too early and lose years of good play.
  11. You said Buxton will play 150 games but you forgot how many years it will take hime to do that. Are you taking the over or under of "3"?
  12. I think the only signal that the Shelton hiring sends is that Falvey is a control freak and wants to do everything from being President to being the day to day manager. He should have been fired but Joe loves Falvey and it is as simple as that. Sadly the Twins are going nowhere until they get rid of Falvey.
  13. To Derek S - do you see yourself taking over a playoff contender or a team in a rebuild?
  14. The Twins history does not support your statement that the Twins develop pitchers and not hitters, iit is actually the opposite.
  15. Listening always makes sense. But, I would not trade Ryan for just prospects, I'm tired of getting prospects. There are new prospects every year. If you are going to trade Ryan I want to get some big league proven (not big league ready prospects) players be they hitters or pitchers. This team is not in a total rebuild at this time.
  16. You think?
  17. Even if they are all top 10 prospects, what is the point? The point is to field a winning team and the Twins can do that I believe, but not if they trade their best pitchers. No body wants a team that keeps dumping their best players constantly to get more prospects. Getting prospects for proven players is a losing proposition, more fail than succeed.
  18. The Twins are not in a total rebuild situation so it would be just plain dumb to trade for prospects.
  19. First off I will say I am against bringing in a former Twins player to be their new manager, especially someone with managing experience. If I was going to bring in a former Twins player to be the new skipper it would be Doug Mientkiewicz. My favorite candidate to be the new Twins manager remains Don Mattingly.
  20. Lee will be just fine at shortstop when he gets a chance to start the season there and doesn't worry about auditioning for the job. His hitting like many others will improved if the new manager shows some line-up and batting order stability.
