I haven't seen any announcement that Maddux was fired (other than the link provided ). It's not on the Nationals site, it's not on in the article on the Nationals site that said that Baker got fired.

Gardy didn't throw players under the bus? Hmmmm. I must have been watching different post game presses conferences.

I think a 3/30 is a good offer. He was worth 18M this year, and we'd hope he could have similar seasons for the next three (and I think he can).

The prevailing theory nowadays is develop position players, buy pitching.

You don't remember it because it didn't happen.

I think the Twins will be smart enoough to keep Mauer And I'd definitely consider Kepler part of the core, much moreso than Polanco.

Even better news than the idea of him being the Red Sox manager (which never made sense)! Congrats!

    fair point

Lance Lynn had a FIP close to 5.00. In the NL. After not pitching in the majors in 2016. Hard pass.

I don't remember the last time I skipped watching a World Series, but a Dodgers/Yankees World Series would do it.

Wow, I just threw up a little in my mouth.

Lewis will take over CF for Buxton when Buxton leaves via free agency ;-)

Oh Boy, I'd LOVE for Boston to get Gardy ;-)

http://www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/purge-and-purify-halloween-decorations-arent-racist-homeowner-says/ar-AAtoBad?li=BBnb7Kz A 'Halloween decorated' house...by a self-proclaimed Trump supporter. BTW, the text was changed. Originally, it said 'Make America Great Again Purge and Purify'.

Even though I'm not from Minnesota, so the idea of him being one of us is lost on me personally, he was a great player who I enjoyed watching a lot. This is a very good article. Thanks.

Are you suggesting we should have used Buxton in a Verlander trade? Or are you just saying we COULD have used him?

I agree that the Twins had to target PTC pitchers for financial reasons. I've been saying that for years. Like you said, they are cheaper.

I was just wondering if I remembered correctly. Thanks for the info. So you believe the former FO went about changing the pitch to contact philosophy?

Pardon me Brock, is that the Chattanooga Choo Choo? :-)

The Dodgers turned into the West Coast Yankees. Between the HUUUGE payroll and hiring Torre and Mattingly for managers, the organization really turned me away from them.

Didn't they picked quite a few hard throwing RPs with the plan to convert them to SP. I remember Ryan saying in a press conference with some disgust that those were the type they would be targeting, then they went after RPs.

Pitch to contact only works when your stuff is good enough. Most pitchers aren't good enough to get away with that and that's been clear with this team for many years.

My family refuses to either accept or understand that I am no longer a Dodgers fan.

Weird that the Wild played yesterday and now they don't play till Friday. That's a lot of time between games.

Twins were 29th in the majors in strikeouts. The were 29th in K/9. They were 29th in K%. It's a prevailing theme with this team. Hoping the new FO really does target pitchers who can miss bats and new philosophies are taught in the minors.
