  1. The Donaldson trade is probably the best trade this century (at least from the Jays side, not Oakland's side so much).
  2. all that means is that it would be like most pub crawls where one never quite makes it to their last stop before they quit or pass out :-) In this case though, we're absolutely losing 100 or more.
  3. This guy is likely going to be released end of season. He's spent a lot of time in the minors and letting him wear the MLB uniform for a month in a season like this is, well, commendable. There's a way to run a ballclub and still be a person too.
  4. now is the best time to let someone get their possible only look in the majors.
  5. 'Between 1988 and 2013 there were a total of 537 seasons pitched by pitchers who were 22, and the total fWAR was 327.9. In this time span pitchers join major league rosters around age 23-24, peak around 26 with a sustained decrease in numbers from 27 on that gradually flattens out a bit around age 35.' http://www.beyondtheboxscore.com/2014/2/25/5437902/pitching-aging-curves
  6. Dozier is now 8th in the majors in WAR for position players. He's 6th in the AL, right behind the big 5 who keep being mentioned for AL MVP: Trout, Altuve, Donaldson, Betts and Machado.
  7. I think I said 78 or 79. I know I didn't have us in the 80s in area. Pitching and defense were always going to be killing us.
  8. Well, at least the defense has been consistent all year. Consistently horrible that is :-) In fairness, the pitching has been bad horrendous most all the year with the exception of April. We do have the worst ERA in the first half and the 2nd half. More consistency :-) For many of us, it was pretty clear going into ST that we wouldn't be competing for a playoff spot. The talent gathered by Ryan just wasn't there.
  9. I don't know of too many people who saw 100 losses. Many thought we'd lose a few more than last year (mostly because it was fluky we won as much as we did), but 100 losses?
  10. unfortunately, I think this call up is followed by being released in the offseason.
  11. Yeah, but they are so very good even at their age the drop might take a bit. And no Pedroia then? Dozier is about to join the 30 yo club too. In any event, I think there's a market for him. I also think there's no way he gets traded this offseason.
  12. Kinsler is tied for 1st in DRS for MLB 2Bs and Cano is 3rd. Might be awhile for them to drop off enough to be considered a detriment at 2B.
  13. Yeah, I couldn't agree with that more. We have a horrific rotation and we have too many pitchers that have contributed to that. Seems the decisions should involve, I don't know, releasing some of them? This depth of starters is one reason why May was forced to, and then continued to be in, the bullpen
  14. Unless Altuve wins it, and he probably will and should
  15. Trout is the best player in baseball and he cant carry a team. He has the same problem Dozier has. His team has no pitching. Its a myth any one player can carry a team, especially in baseball.
  16. we have to play .500 ball to avoid 100 losses.
  17. You think he meant 200 IP mark? You know instead of 200 pitch mark.
  18. I still think Altuve wins that.
  19. No, but maybe up one more spot.
  20. Going into today, Dozier was 9th in the majors in WAR (for position players). And now he has two more HRs.
  21. Alex meyer first pitch 98 mph. Second pitch 99 mph
  22. Well, I'm out. Enjoy the game all. I'll be missing it as I'll be in the bleachers watching AAA ball. GO TWINS!
  23. One of the fastest from home to the dugout ;-)
