    Hmmm, I am not seeing more disposable income. My taxes went up slightly (basically in line with my small annual pay raise) when my step in crease takes place next pay check, it will rise again. My taxes certainly didnt go lower. No additional income was created for this guy.

    'Twins remain in market for starting pitching Twins chief baseball officer Derek Falvey appeared on MLB Network's "High Heat" with Chris Russo on Wednesday and reaffirmed the Twins' interest in adding starting pitching. Minnesota remains in the mix for Yu Darvish but also has interest in other starters such as Lance Lynn, Alex Cobb and Chris Tillman. Falvey didn't mention specific names but said the Twins remain likely to add a starter before pitchers and catchers report in roughly two weeks. "We still have opportunity," Falvey said. "There are a number of players still on the board. We have a chance to add to our group before Spring Training."

    Everything evolves. Baseball is no different. Some of the changes being suggested will barely be noticeable and not even be worth talking about after a couple years of implementation. I, personally, dont care about pace of play issues, but if making a few small changes speeds it up a tad and brings more fans to the game, I am all for it. Another thing that might bring more people to the game is marketing their young talent. Basdeball is horrible at this on the national level.

    Wow, the talent is dropping like flies over theere. Losing Dave C. stinks big time and losing Eno is bad too.

    The new series Bellevue is very good. More than once I got goosebumps from creepy scenes. Also enjoying the Alienist.

    I'm not going till next year (before I turn 50 which was a goal) and I'll be watching the Cactus League games. My good friend and I can just drive 9-10 hours south and watch my 2nd favorite (and his favorite) team play their games. Much easier than doing the Florida thing and my brother, who will likely go with us, is a Dodgers and Angels fan. Maybe one day, I'll make the Florida Trip.

    And boy we have a great track record of doing that...one in the last 11 years or so.

    Darvish in his six years has produced 19 fWAR for 56M...and he missed one season. So he gave roughly 85M in surplus value (again, even with missing a year). He was a steal. And, btw it's funny people are ragging on a guy for his 2017 W Series appearance when he made 11M in 2017 which is relative peanuts in today's game . ANYWAY, is a 6 year contract bad if a pitcher makes, say, 22M a season and is worth: Year One: 30M Year Two: 28M Year Three: 25M Year Four: 18M Year Five: 16M Year Six: 13M Yeah, towards the end, it'll look bad, but the team still gets it's money's worth AND hopefully during our window of opportunity he's doing his best work (if you figure our window is now).

    Yes, now is the time to add in order to stay relevant for postseason contention. Like Smith did prior to the 2010 season.

    Do we just assume that because they scored the 2nd most runs in baseball in the 2nd half that they will continue that trend for the whole 2019 season?

    I think you're stretching it quite a bit with that statement. Cleveland is in a different tier than we are whether we get Darvish or not.

    Scherzer made 15M last year and provided 6 WAR. Worth 48.2M. What I don't like about articles like this is that it combines pre-arbitration and pre-free agent players with players who have hit the open market and/or gone past their 6 year control. Obviously even average players in pre-arbitration status, and many even in arbitration status, are going to greatly outweigh their salaries. And, as a side note, there is never any outrage about how little they are being paid compared to their value :-)

    Brewers had an awesome day. The trade for Yellich was awesome. It was a bargain for what they got. ...and they got Cain for a good deal too. Dave Cameron had predicted he'd get signed for 4/68M (17M a year). He signs for 5/80 (16M a year). Only three teams were predicted to have a worse WAR from their projected CF this year. He's quite the upgrade.

    It ridiculous Rolen didn't get WAAAAAAY more votes. He's top 10 at his position all time. Great hitter and fantastic fielder.

    MLB gives a lot of weight to how close a prospect is to the majors.

    I mean for the overall situation, not a CR. When they finally pass the budget, it'll be with the nuclear option.
