    Yup, I just want baseball. Don't care who 'wins'. In this case though, like I said before, I think teams are getting smarter at evaluating players and most teams are seeing players in mostly the same way. Then they are making their offers. The players must think the FOs should be operating in old school ways. Apparently they are learning that's not the case. Now, I'm all for players getting what they can, but the market has decided what they are worth and it's not what the players thought it would be. It's not collusion, unless getting smarter across the game is collusion.

    Yup. I have rookie ball and AAA ball really close to where I live. Of course, I like watching the major league games (usually one series a year, and two this year), but I don't need to.

    funny, in 2015, when Torii Hunter was playing in our easy RF getting -8 DRS, JD Martinez was getting +4 DRS playing half his time in the difficult Detroit RF.

    To no ones surprise, Loria will not be sharing any profits from the sale of the Marlins with the county that homed them. He has found loopholes to the provision that he was supposedly to share a chunk of the profits if he ever sold the team.

    I think the players and their agents have greatly misread todays market for players. There are supposedly huge deals being turned down. Players are supposedly getting big offers just not as big as they THINK they should be getting. I am guessing too many players are looking at old school numbers and trying to apply those to ehat they should get paid while teams are beung analytical. They all wish Dave Stewart would come back.

    yeah, I have a few people who give me carp because I chose physical therapy over surgery after tearing my ACL. The surgery, the pain of recovery, and the physical therapy afterwards was more than I was willing to do at my age. I had to give up a couple activities, but overall, not much has changed. Of course, I am not a pro athlete making over 10M a season to play baseball. If I was, I likely bite the bullet on a relatively small procedure like that since I am getting paid ridiculous money.

    yup, I am planning to buy a house next year. Should be greeeat mortage rates available. Fortunately, my property taxes should be really low to offset that.

    Fangraph's prospect guy Eric Longenhagen did his top 100 prospects. Three Twins Lewis at 38 Gordon at 77 Kirilloff at 99. Atlanta has five guys higher than Lewis, six in the top 50, 10 of the top 100.

    there are plenty of active duty personnel and veterans who feel that they served so people could continue to exercise their rights guaranteed to them by the constitution to include peaceful protest of the national anthem. I am one of them.

    The defense behind Ervin in 2017 was the biggest contributor to his ERA. Overall, he was worse in 2017 than 2016.

    Hard pass on Tillman. If it's Tillman versus playing one of our youngsters, I'll take the youngster. I get a little tired of our SOP of signing people on the cheap we are hoping rebound.

    They had a .541 winning % in the 2nd half. A seasonal .541 winning % is like 87 or 88 wins.

    As far as on the field performance goes, the two Twins players I enjoyed watching the most were Kirby Puckett and Johan Santana.

    I made an emotional and rude post that I regret. Its not the kind of poster I want to be. In fact, it was hypocritical of me to make that post because its exactly the kond of post I would and have reported. It does no good and it causes problems amongst fellow posters. I deleted it because a poster who called me on it is someone who has always stayed above the petty name calling.even when we disagree, and we have, its always been civil. In any event, I apologize for how I worded that post.

    Ah, the battle cry of Republicans: Smaller government and states rights, as long as the states make decisions the Republicans like. If not, then infringe away. And next the Republicans will go after Social Security. Cause the middle class and the poor need to pay for the debt that just got bigger by giving tax cuts to the rich and Ryan is fooling people into believing it's Social Security's fault. Doesn't matter that that the people have been paying into the trust their whole lives. The government stole the money from the trust, can't pay it back and so let's take it away.

    For you, and because you asked in the manner you did, I will rephrase: Plenty of people buy Trump's (and Paul Ryan's) lies as fact. About half the country was fooled into voting for Trump and a huge chunk still believe in everything he says and does. They have his back cause they can't see that the people Trump and his GOP cronies are going to hurt is them. For those who got a decrease in taxes, I hope they enjoy it while it lasts. Their tax break is temporary while the huge tax break for the rich is permanent. I didn't get a tax break. My taxes rose a little bit after getting my tiny annual increase at the beginning of the year. So I imagine in a few years, it's going to hurt even more knowing that I never got the bigger paychecks even for the short time others did. Then again, if money is what made my world go round, and if it is what I judged a President on, then maybe seeing a slight increase in my paycheck would fool me too.
