  1. Going to see it again on Sunday (when the church people are doing their thing) and/or Tuesday (5 buck movie day).
  2. Unbelievably awesome! Even better than I imagined it would be. Exceeded all my expectations.
  3. Don't look now....
  4. It was as close as I could get to having 30 catchers :-)
  5. 33 MLB catchers has 300 or more PAs. Castro was 20th in fWAR and 22nd in wRC+ 14 MLB catchers with 400 or more PAs. Castro was 10th in fWAR and 9th in wRC+ Our pitching staff was 11th out of 15 AL teams. Was our staff being so, um, high (?) in the rankings due to Castro or a full season of Berrios?
  6. Yeah, Kruk likes the win stat for pitchers. Maybe in a few years, when he is in his 60s, he will be asked to join the Modern ERA committee, which just elected Morris to the HOF. No one under 60 on that 16 member committee. Ages ranged anywhere for 60 to over 80. Average age of the committee members around 72.
  7. I have read a ton of reviews and the majority of them are positive. I will find out tomorrow. This is the 9th Star Wars movie. At worst, it will be the 6th best. I have a feeling, when I get done seeing it, it will end up in my top 3.
  8. Doesnt bother me at all that the Yankees spend what they do. They play within the rules the game has set up. I still strongly dislike them, but I think that stems from them killing us for so long.
  9. Seeing it at noon tomorrow.
  10. Old guy (Rodney) and reclamation project (Pineda). The inexpensive bottom of barrel types. The low risk, medium reward bin we love to shop in.
  11. So Bard, a first round pick in 2012 was left unprotected as was Stewart (another first round pick, 2013). Whatever happened with Michael, Harrison, Boyd, and Wimmer (some more of our first rounders since 2010)?
  12. Yeah, fWAR wasn't even around until 2008. And it was the original WAR stat. bWAR came in 2010. That is why I find it funny when people blame WAR for Morris not making it. WAR wasn't even a thing for like thee first 7 or 8 of the years Morris was on the ballot. WAR wasn't taken seriously till he had been on the ballot for about 10, 11 years. Anyway, problem is, the only old school stat Bartolo had on Santana was wins. For the rest of them (ERA, WHIP, Strikeouts, IP, K/9, SHO, CG, QS) Santana destroyed him. It should have been Santana, then Rivera, and Colon somewhere around 5th or 6th. Colon won because HE 'won' over 20 games. Getting a full run of support more than Santana helped Colon's cause :-)
  13. is Smyly also not pitching in 2018?
  14. Indians have had either the #1 or #2 rotation the AL five years running. And overall in that time frame, they have been number one. Conversely, a team like the Red Sox, often known for offense, has bounced all over the rankings on offense in the last five years. 7th in 2017, 1st in 2016, 8th in 2015, 10th in 2014, and 1st in 2013. Or, our offense was 9th in runs scored the first half of last season, and 1st in the 2nd half.
  15. Maybe his lawyer is using his tweet account again ;-)
  16. All I was saying is too many people just look at the players without taking into consideration salary, age or years of control. And it all needs to be considered.
  17. Exactly what I would expect. And that's fine. Makes him and Trump suffer even more.
  18. I've given Sano plenty of respect in regards to his bat. PLENTY. I don't think it's fair to say I am finally giving him respect just because I don't find him to be a good defender and I say so. I give him credit for what he does well and I point out his issues on defense. Heck, I even gave him credit for his effort in RF when they made the horrible decision to put him out there. Yeah, he was bad, but It wasn't HIS fault it was so bad. If you feel that it's unfair to point out a player's weaknesses, I don't know what to say to that.
  19. The teams knew about this: 'While a first-degree sprain is the least severe of UCL injuries, further damage could lead to Tommy John surgery, a reconstructive procedure that sidelines pitchers for a year. The shot of PRP, a biologic of centrifuge-spun blood that is used to promote healing, was administered Oct. 20, according to the report, which was distributed to teams after Ohtani entered Major League Baseball’s posting system. Ohtani, the report said, “will be most likely available to start his throwing program approximately a month from the PRP.” Sports Illustrated first reported that Ohtani had received the PRP shot.
  20. YES!!!!!!! SUCK IT, TRUMP!!!!!!
  21. Porthos: 'Rortvedt. Isn't that a smelly kind of cheese?'
  22. Yeah, I wasn't just using Sabremetrics only. In fact, that was the point. His playoffs numbers a whole aren't that great. As good as some of his playoffs were, people ignore the bad ones. Those count too, no? In '87, he was horrible in ALCS and in '92 he was again horrible in ALCS. In the '92 ALCS, one of the games Toronto lost was his start (where he got the loss) and in his second start, he didn't get out of the 4th inning and he have up 5 ER (the team got saved by the bullpen and offense). His W Series that year, also terrible. His two W Series starts were the only two losses Toronto had in that W Series (and he got both losses). And yep, people vote...like they did for 15 straight years when they said he didn't deserve to be in the HOF. But this one voting body proves your point :-) Like I said earlier. He's in and I congratulate him for it.
  23. Well, I said for examples. It wasn't meant to be all inclusive. And I never said anyone used all of them ;-) Again, thanks for the respectful debate.
