  1. And 30th in RZR and tied for 23rd in DRS (with Escobar). That DRS ranking almost assuredly gets lower if he plays a regular amount of innings at 3B. And the OOZ ranking you stated earlier stays 22nd (actually tied at 22) even if you are looking at 26 3Bs who had at least 650 or more innings. He's a bad defensive player who DOES do a couple things very well (coming up on slow hit balls and his arm), but those two things don't make him a quality defender. But some still insist he's a good or solid defender and they are certainly entitled to their opinion. I don't buy it and I think it gets worse as he gets older and his body breaks down carrying his weight.
  2. Kyle and Miguel are similar in that they are one dimensional players. The situations are different cause the Twins have a DH spot available for them to use for such a player.
  3. I believe it's pure fantasy to think the Twins will ever sign Darvish.
  4. Besides the fact that there's a 24 point difference... :-) Anyway, is there a hitter who has a career BABIP over .365?
  5. Yeah, I'm not sure one can really expect a player to improve on and maintain a BABIP over .362. That's extremely high already. It's amazing he's busted that number twice already. But he does pound that ball and since he's done it twice, I suppose he could do it on a regular basis.
  6. I think if anyone believes Mauer will sign for only 8M a year or less a year they are kidding themselves.
  7. I'm a fan of Sorkin. I've greatly enjoyed practically every movie and show he's written.
  8. One of my favorite individual seasons of any show. Olivia Colman is such an amazing actress! Can't wait for her to take on the role of Queen in 'The Crown' during seasons 3 and 4.
  9. I'm finding Knightfall to be a good show.
  10. I also saw The Greateat Showman and, like you, I loved it. The Darkest Hour is next on my list. Hope it is better than Dunkirk which so many seemed to love and which I found a boring mess.
  11. I don't know too many people who look at FIP for closers (or even relievers).
  12. The numbers he had pitching in the steroid ERA AND AL East in the 1990s-2000s, HOF worthy.
  13. Mussina, for me, is a definite HOFer.
  14. Rooker has played 40 games in A+ ball. Not a minute in AA ball. We really think the Twins are going to bring him up next year?
  15. It was as close as I could get to having 30 catchers :-)
  16. 33 MLB catchers has 300 or more PAs. Castro was 20th in fWAR and 22nd in wRC+ 14 MLB catchers with 400 or more PAs. Castro was 10th in fWAR and 9th in wRC+ Our pitching staff was 11th out of 15 AL teams. Was our staff being so, um, high (?) in the rankings due to Castro or a full season of Berrios?
  17. Yeah, Kruk likes the win stat for pitchers. Maybe in a few years, when he is in his 60s, he will be asked to join the Modern ERA committee, which just elected Morris to the HOF. No one under 60 on that 16 member committee. Ages ranged anywhere for 60 to over 80. Average age of the committee members around 72.
  18. Old guy (Rodney) and reclamation project (Pineda). The inexpensive bottom of barrel types. The low risk, medium reward bin we love to shop in.
  19. So Bard, a first round pick in 2012 was left unprotected as was Stewart (another first round pick, 2013). Whatever happened with Michael, Harrison, Boyd, and Wimmer (some more of our first rounders since 2010)?
  20. Yeah, fWAR wasn't even around until 2008. And it was the original WAR stat. bWAR came in 2010. That is why I find it funny when people blame WAR for Morris not making it. WAR wasn't even a thing for like thee first 7 or 8 of the years Morris was on the ballot. WAR wasn't taken seriously till he had been on the ballot for about 10, 11 years. Anyway, problem is, the only old school stat Bartolo had on Santana was wins. For the rest of them (ERA, WHIP, Strikeouts, IP, K/9, SHO, CG, QS) Santana destroyed him. It should have been Santana, then Rivera, and Colon somewhere around 5th or 6th. Colon won because HE 'won' over 20 games. Getting a full run of support more than Santana helped Colon's cause :-)
  21. Indians have had either the #1 or #2 rotation the AL five years running. And overall in that time frame, they have been number one. Conversely, a team like the Red Sox, often known for offense, has bounced all over the rankings on offense in the last five years. 7th in 2017, 1st in 2016, 8th in 2015, 10th in 2014, and 1st in 2013. Or, our offense was 9th in runs scored the first half of last season, and 1st in the 2nd half.
  22. All I was saying is too many people just look at the players without taking into consideration salary, age or years of control. And it all needs to be considered.
  23. I've given Sano plenty of respect in regards to his bat. PLENTY. I don't think it's fair to say I am finally giving him respect just because I don't find him to be a good defender and I say so. I give him credit for what he does well and I point out his issues on defense. Heck, I even gave him credit for his effort in RF when they made the horrible decision to put him out there. Yeah, he was bad, but It wasn't HIS fault it was so bad. If you feel that it's unfair to point out a player's weaknesses, I don't know what to say to that.
