  1. Too many want to discount the Indians 22 game streak, saying they aren't as good as they are because that won't happen again, but then won't take into account how they under-performed early in the year. It's like the people who discount Rockies hitters for inflated numbers (cause of the park they play in) and still slam Rockies pitchers for their number (not taking into account the park they pitch in) In the AL the Indians were easily 1st in pitching, 3rd in offense and 4th in defense. That kind of balance makes a team great. They were the only team in the AL in the top 4 in all three categories. Losing to a 91 win the Yankees in game five in a best of five series isn't proof that they aren't as good as their record says. It might be proof that things happen in short series and that playoffs don't really prove who the best team is.
  2. Last year Cleveland scored more runs than we did and had a better BA, OBP, SLG% and wRC+. And they have most of their players back. Their rotation was and still is way better than ours as is their relief core. Their defense was also better. Can we win the division? Sure, cause this is sports; however, most of the time, 162 game schedules tell us the story if who the best teams are.
  3. His defense was less than impressive the few games I saw him play.
  4. Funny, Twins Daily has had a few articles on this situation and made it well known she was affiliated with them.
  5. Wait a minute. Are you saying Papi juiced his whole career with Boston?
  6. Yeah, that had to stink. I'm not betting on Gibson being anything other than the kind of pitcher Gibson is. And that's not good.
  7. I just hope that on the 1st-3rd of June (at home VS Cleveland), the starters are Lynn, Odorizzi and Berrios. If Gibson pitches during one of those games, I'm going to be spending a lot of time grabbing beers at TF that game ;-)
  8. Between Rosario and Kepler, Kepler is the better defender. Stats back eye test.
  9. I think he's talented. I think he's a legit major league starting player. But one has to wonder how much he was helped by what he was taking?
  10. Defense is my favorite part of the game. By a lot.
  11. Hope he turns out to be a good one for us.
  12. Oh, and Fangraphs doesn't determine what a player is worth. It determines a player's WAR and the market determines what 1 WAR is worth based on contracts given.
  13. I believe there's a strong possibility, but of course he could go the other way. No doubt it could.
  14. I believe he's finally better and that he'll only keep getting better. The talent is there. We've seen it.
  15. And that's what's gonna happen. And it should. Rooker won't be a factor though. WAY too early to think about him starting next year.
  16. Morrison doesn't have the history Mauer does. He has one quality MLB season. Again, we'll see.I hope he signs for a discount with the Twins.I actually believe he will. And I wouldn't count on FA market acting next offseason the way it did this offseason.

  18. I think some forget how much money is in the game and how little 7-8M a year gets you most of the time in regards to veteran FAs. Mauer was worth over 16M last year. If he has another year like last year with the BA/OBP and defense, he should be able to get more than that. But we'll see cause he'll be at least as good this year, and probably better.
  19. yeah, I am not sure how you look at what I wrote (and you quoted)about Gibson and then write what you did. What logic did you see in that quote that makes you compare what I said about Gibson to May. His bWAR? Couldn't have been bWAR (cause I don't use bWAR to back up opinions). Nor was it fWAR. I didn't mention WAR at all. I don't know how anyone compares the bWAR or fWAR between these two pitchers. Gibson has been given tons of starts, May was given half a season worth of starts then relegated to the bullpen and then been injured.
  20. Been quite a few quality Asian players. Yes, only one HOFer.
  21. Neither one of those two are anywhere near Ohtani's talent. That's why they were so inexpensive. Ohtani will need some adjustment time. None of this should be surprising.
  22. and because Darvish is much better and getting paid less per year.
  23. Why do we keep talking about what Ryan did or didn't do and/or could or couldn't do? We don't know what he was allowed to spend. We don't know if he was frugal or spent all of what he could. And even if we did, it's irrelevant now. We need to move on instead of continuously slamming/defending his moves/non-moves. He is gone.
