  1. I'm hesitant to call five and a half up in the wild card backing in. In fact the biggest obstacle in their path now MIGHT be the fact that they are currently sitting in the second wild card spot and potentially staring at three games in Yankee Stadium rather than the three in Houston that the third wild card would get.
  2. Four and a half games up in the wild card. No such thing as a sure thing but the something that dramatically changes for them to NOT be playing in October might involve a flawed team overcoming that deficit. Possible? Sure. Likely? Not so much.
  3. What you've just outlined is a recipe that most of the last one hundred plus teams that have won the World Series has relied on. I don't know why nobody else has thought of this. Oh. Wait. EVERY team will be looking do to this exact thing. ONE will succeed. Maybe that one will be ours.
  4. Worth noting that spending a boatload more money than the Twins for the last 30 years has netted the Dodgers ONE title. Go back 40 years and the two teams are even at two. Just sayin
  5. That's cuz Jeter took the SS job by the balls and never let it go. Lewis has not done such a thing.
  6. NO. Nobody gets to be compared to Jake Cave. Please. If so, I petition Bally to take the games back off my cable system.
  7. Not sure I want a guy who has trouble staying healthy staring into the teeth of double play break up attempts. Even if that's not a big thing anymore. Until it is.
  8. But what is his ceiling? What's his floor? What can we reasonably expect?
  9. Have Larnach & Wallner REALLY passed him? Probably. Maybe. Will we feel differently a year from now when Larnach & Wallner don't have Kepler around and Kepler is playing somewhere else on a contract that by MLB standards is reasonably cheap. Maybe. Probably.
  10. And yet they are sitting squarely in a playoff spot. It's almost as if someone is doing something right.
  11. I'm far more interested in what he does when he gets here than is how he is viewed before he does. We've had a hole at one corner for half a decade and will may well have one in the other next year.
  12. You obviously didn't read what I wrote. Are we ignoring the cost to acquire Mahle, Gray and Lopez?
  13. "wasn't given the opportunity to stay healthy?" HUH??
  14. I didn't say I wouldn't. I just remember a lot of angst among the fan base as recently as the trade deadline three weeks ago about a lack of qualified playoff caliber starting pitching at a point when Lopez, Ryan and Ober were all healthy and performing among the top two dozen pitchers in MLB. Didn't sound like folks were ready for SWR to get the ball with the season on the line.
  15. Had we offered the same contract the Jays did, I think he would have signed.
