no logical answer exists you don't get better when your best players are playing for other teams

My point was that I was replying to a post insinuating that the Twins couldn't "compete" because they didn't get enough innings from their starters. We actually get more than the Dodgers who won the title last year and the same as the Brewers who currently have the best record. I agree that there are fewer 6 inning starts than there used to be. Twins average just a tick over 5. Yes, the game has changed in that respect. I don't really care for it but I'm one of those guys who is always hollering at the damn kids on my lawn. The nice thing is that the Twins have shown a propensity for being able to build a good bullpen over the last handful of years. Did we subtract some parts? Sure. Can we build it back? Again, absolutely. Would it be nice to still have Duran, Jax & Varland? Sure. But a quote I like to use in these situations is that every team that has ever won a World Series has done so without any of those guys so there is no reason why the Twins can't as well. We've got a nice group of potential starters. The more of those you have the better the chance that some, or at least one, of them develop into something special, like a Joe Ryan. With Correa's contract gone, the better the chance of keeping someone like Ryan. Duran was NEVER going to stay here once he had the opportunity to leave. A couple more years of him would have been nice but 5-10 years of the two guys we got for him might be alright too. I will go out on a limb and say that in a few years we will look back at Trade Deadline 2025 as a turning point for a team in serious contention. Will we win a World Series? Maybe, maybe not. But only one team does each year. The rest better be entertaining and I think we will be that. Sorry, I got off topic but once I started typing the thoughts and words just kind of started and didn't stop. I am fortunate enough to have seen two Twins championships and I'll die a Twins fan even if I don't see another. Go Twins. We’re gonna win Twins, we’re gonna score! And yet, the team with the fewest innings this season from their starting pitchers is the Los Angeles Dodgers, who always seem like contenders to me.

So much optimism about what new ownership would do. Wanna know what new ownership will do? Be hamstrung by the realities of MLB finances same as the old ownership. Good luck.

My favorite part of this article is the comment: "the Twins will need to spend some real money on free agents or trading for guys with significant salaries" When, of course, the last time they did that the fan reaction was "why did they do that?" Or the time before. Or the time before. Which brings me back to my favorite observation about Twins fans: The only thing Twins fans like doing more than complaining about the team not spending money is complaining about the team spending money.

Wait. A guy signs a big contract lengthy contract and toward the back end of that contract the player doesn't seem to be worth the contract? That's crazy. I've never heard of such a thing. Albert Pujols, Miguel Cabrerra, Joe Mauer, Chris Davis, Mike Hampton, Anthony Rendon, Jacoby Elsburry, Giancarlo Standon, Steven Strasberg, Alphonso Soriano, Jason Bay, Gary Matthews, Jason Werth, Barry Zito. It's almost as if signing players to lucrative, long term contracts is a bad idea.

The only thing Twins fans hate more than ownership not spending big money on players is ownership spending big money on players.

They also have a guy on the other corner of the diamond who is not a great defender there and might benefit from playing a position that might put a little less stress on his body. Not to mention that in the upcoming future they should have guys like Lee, Keaschall, Culpepper, DeBarge, Amick, Winkour, Eales, DeAndade & Leon ready to man the rest of the infield. A lot of these guys are not projected to be ready until 2027. This has a bit of a 1980-1981 feel to it. By this time next year I'd hope we have a clearer picture of which "kids" are the future and that we see some of them here by the end of next year. If 2027 is 1982 (sure 102 losses would suck) and an influx of exciting new talent and a precursor to a couple titles in the ensuing decade I'd be down with that. Move Lewis to 1B, laminate his name in the lineup card and let's see what the kids can do.

I agree. However, he HAS been with the organization for 4 years and is getting his first big league at bat of the season AFTER the start of August. So it's NOT like he's taken the bull by the horns and forced them to put him on the field. In an ideal world HE would have played the role Willie Castro has for two and a half years. He didn't.

Correa's quotes show that he's either an idiot or a liar. He's wanted to play 3rd base for two years and NOBODY knew? I call BS. As a SS his contract is somewhat in line. IF he produces at has historical numbers. As a 3B his production is a joke.

The TV situation comes down to one thing: How much are fans willing to pay for the team to compete as far as television money goes? The answer is probably "not nearly as much as it would take." Lockout in 2027 which results in revenue sharing and a salary cap (and floor) is the best possible scenario

The only thing Twins fans hate more than the team not spending money is the team spending money. And now, seemingly, the only thing the like less than complaining about the performance of t he players the team spends money on is trading the players they spend money on.
