  1. They need him as much as they did before. Fernandez is not at a level near Dozier.
  2. I still wonder if the Braves and Twins ever had some meaningful conversations. The news of Phillips nixing a trade to the Braves makes me wonder. That an I'm getting bored of the Dodgers offers.
  3. They want Braun at $20 million a year over Dozier at less than half of that? Good luck to them.
  4. The PJ Fleck ELITE press conference.
  5. Melotakis and Mejia make most sense to me. Would love to see Vielema hit enough if Dozier is traded.
  6. I see nothing wrong with having some infield depth. And I see no reason to trade Dozier just to say they are continuing to rebuild, as the article reads. It seems simple enough to me, if the Dodgers don't up the ante, you roll with Polanco at SS and Dozier at 2B with Escobar playing some at SS and 3B.
  7. If the Dodgers really are only offering De Leon, walk away and don't look back.
  8. Born in Austin MN, live in Hastings MN with stops in MPLS and Bloomington. I'm 41 years old with 3 sons ages 16, 7, 3. The oldest two play both baseball and hockey. The youngest dreams of playing baseball and hockey. My oldest has been working with Tanner Vavra this winter hoping to win the Varsity SS spot this year. If not, he will likely be the JV SS. Before WWII my grandfather played some baseball and after being injured in the war, he coached some town ball in northern Iowa. Watching him raise the flag at Target Field a couple years before his passing was a real joy for the family. I get my love for the game and eye for the game from him. I was always the same skinny lefty RF who batted second or ninth, I think my limited talent had me looking at the game diffferently from a young age. I've enjoyed coaching for the past 10 years and am back coaching the youngsters with my 7 year old. It is not the same game to be sure, but watching the pure joys of that age group is also very rewarding. I've followed the site for a while, but have been more active in posting since I've been checking the site daily. My favorite Twins are: Puckett, Mack, Ortiz (Junior not Joe..) Senior Smoke, Hale, Thome, Mauer, Lombardozzi, Perkins, and many others. I'm willing to acknowledge the metrics now popular, but not willing to speak to them as gospel. To me, it is more information to use in evaluation, not the only information.
  9. I'm looking at a quality at bat, someone who will go to the plate and challenge the pitcher. Grossman reminds me a bit of Randy Bush. Not the same player, but they have some similar characteristics. At this point, I do not trust Vargas or Park to do the same. Just my opinion.
  10. I agree with most of this, but am perplexed at who the better bench bats are than Grossman? Do you really trust Park, Vargas, ect to take a quality at bat in a big spot over Grossman?
  11. Now I see why a deal is not getting done, the Twins would be stupid to make that deal.
  12. If getting into drunken rants and challenging all on the Rivals Gopher football forum to a fight is a great guy. I find him to be a condescending wannabe who kissed up to the right people. I don't think you are being unfair at all.
  13. No, the throw from 3rd is often shorter as they play near the bag. It is a straight throw with more time for your footwork as well. If the short stop goes to his right, it will more likely be a longer throw.
  14. Tonkin will need to fight to make the Twins roster, so how would the Cardinals would see him as a sweetner? Maybe you are right, but I don't see it.
  15. Wong is fine defensively and did not have his best year last year. He's not Dozier, but I wouldn't call him terrible either. If you want a better defense, he is an upgrade imo. Not sure what the metrics say,.
  16. Revere with the Angels?
  17. Spend 25 million more wisely. Get more younger talent. Sign one of the younger OF's and some help in the bullpen. Are the Twins going to contend solely due to Bautista? Why sign a guy to flip when you lose a draft pick in doing so? Would the prospects in the return be worth more than a 2nd round pick when you have no control over him next season? Sure Bautista would be fun to watch and his attitude might be a bit refreshing, but that doesn't mean it is the right decision.
  18. 25 million for a guy to flip who would be solely a rental? No.
  19. Tom Nieto Brett Merriman Scott Klingenbeck Dan Serafini Benji Sampson Chris Latham Cleatus Davidson Sean Bergman Adam Johnson Brett Boone NISHI
  20. I feel like others on the site have a different understanding of the word Lottery. Why would we want a lower level Lottery pick player instead of a prospect who has proven himself at higher levels? I get spreading out when guys may be MLB ready, but a lottery type player most likely never makes it. For a player like Dozier, they better get players who will help the MLB roster this year or in a few years.
  21. Greene sounds like the real deal. I do like what Lewis brings to the table, I guess I can hope he would fall. Melendez also is a very interesting guy they should look at with the 35. My .02 from this list.
  22. Coghlin or Davis and possibly Aybar are the guys I'd look at. Anyone picked up needs to know how to play defense. If they keep Santana, which I think they will, I'm not so sure they need another vet starter. Santana, Berrios, Mejia, Gibson, Santiago. I've heard reasonable reasons for May in the rotation or in the pen.
  23. Grossman's defense is really poor, but I like him as a 4th outfielder, occasional DH, bench bat. I think he has a spot. I agree in an ideal world, you would have Rosario as a 4th outfielder, but I don't see it. I'm also skeptical that Granite will be able to hit or Palko won't become Arcia. If thats the case, I roll with Grossman for 20 games in left this year. I like most would prefer a defensive 4th outfielder, but at the same time I want a guy like Grossman hitting on big spots over Rosario and other bench players. We have to have one bench guy who can hit in the clutch or at least take a good AB.
  24. Off the top of my head, Chicago, St. Louis, and Dallas.
  25. Must have forgot the 0, 240 hours that's the ticket. I'm shocked this is over 50 pages and the mods haven't told you to stay on topic.
