  1. The throw from 3B is often shorter than at SS and of course you have more time than at SS. I wouldn't be too worried about Dozier throwing a ball from 3B. The reaction time is more of a concern.
  2. I'm indifferent about this. It reminds me of what a dumb signing it was. I would assume Grossman will be the extra bench bat.
  3. They can't win. If they sign or trade anyone they are blocking prospects! If they want to see what they have, they should have traded for mediocre FA's and make a horrible trade of Dozier. Sometimes I think people just need to b1tch.
  4. I thought Walbeck was good enough defensively to avoid this list. Just .02 We're all waiting for Nishi...
  5. They need him as much as they did before. Fernandez is not at a level near Dozier.
  6. They want Braun at $20 million a year over Dozier at less than half of that? Good luck to them.
  7. I see nothing wrong with having some infield depth. And I see no reason to trade Dozier just to say they are continuing to rebuild, as the article reads. It seems simple enough to me, if the Dodgers don't up the ante, you roll with Polanco at SS and Dozier at 2B with Escobar playing some at SS and 3B.
  8. I'm looking at a quality at bat, someone who will go to the plate and challenge the pitcher. Grossman reminds me a bit of Randy Bush. Not the same player, but they have some similar characteristics. At this point, I do not trust Vargas or Park to do the same. Just my opinion.
  9. I agree with most of this, but am perplexed at who the better bench bats are than Grossman? Do you really trust Park, Vargas, ect to take a quality at bat in a big spot over Grossman?
  10. Now I see why a deal is not getting done, the Twins would be stupid to make that deal.
  11. If getting into drunken rants and challenging all on the Rivals Gopher football forum to a fight is a great guy. I find him to be a condescending wannabe who kissed up to the right people. I don't think you are being unfair at all.
  12. No, the throw from 3rd is often shorter as they play near the bag. It is a straight throw with more time for your footwork as well. If the short stop goes to his right, it will more likely be a longer throw.
  13. Tonkin will need to fight to make the Twins roster, so how would the Cardinals would see him as a sweetner? Maybe you are right, but I don't see it.
  14. Wong is fine defensively and did not have his best year last year. He's not Dozier, but I wouldn't call him terrible either. If you want a better defense, he is an upgrade imo. Not sure what the metrics say,.
  15. Tom Nieto Brett Merriman Scott Klingenbeck Dan Serafini Benji Sampson Chris Latham Cleatus Davidson Sean Bergman Adam Johnson Brett Boone NISHI
  16. Interesting trade idea, but the more players you add into a deal the harder it is to get done.
  17. I'm fine with the signing, but you bring up his questionable skills that I would argue are more important than framing. Questionable blocking skills and a noodle arm shouldn't be taken lightly because of framing numbers.
  18. You think framing a pitch is much more valuable than communicating with a pitcher? I will respectfully disagree. Falvey may value framing more than I do, but I suspect the signing is not solely base on framing. I think game calling/communication whatever else you want to add is extremely undervalued these days because the computer nerds can't find a way to quantify it. If they could put a fancy little number next to it, then they would sell it. Is framing useful? Of course it is, but but it is not in the top 5 things I'd look for in a catcher. Maybe at 41, I'm an "old" baseball coach. /rant.
  19. Best post thus far in the thread by a mile. Far more important than perceived "framing".
  20. Could you expand on the clubhouse cancer comment? I'm not remembering him being a lockerroom problem, but I am getting older and more forgetful.
  21. BINGO! We've seen all kinds of prospects play multiple positions in the minors, why wasn't Sano in RF 25 games or more a year then? Because Terry made a stupid signing and painted himself into a corner.
  22. One could also argue after a very nice September, now is the time for a mental break from the game?
  23. They will always list to offers, I would have to think they would reach other to other teams as well, even if their intent is keep Santana and Dozier. That's only doing due diligence. I suspect we only hear about 1% of this.
  24. I agree to a point. We do not need to see any Sano in RF projects again. I'm actually concerned about Kepler in RF. I'd like to see him at 1B in a couple years.
