  1. And then it's over prematurely...
  2. Another nice reminder that we are not watching robots.
  3. I will watch or listen like always when I have time. If I wasn't going to invest time on them, why would I be here now? I am coaching two youth teams and will be watching my oldest on his varsity team when I can. That puts the numbers of Twins and Gophers games attended combined under 5.
  4. I think you are right on all accounts, unless they drop a different pitcher.
  5. Souhan should go back to writing about the outdoors, his baseball knowledge sucks to put it nicely.
  6. What is says to me, is that they don't think the young talent is either ready or that good. Stick around there's a lot of awesome people here.
  7. We don't need 300+ strikeouts between Sano and Park? They think he still needs to work on parts of his game, probably catching up to an above average fastball. There is a reason they took him off the 40 man two months ago. They also didn't sign him, so they are not married to idea of playing him. Grossman takes plenty of quality at bats, works counts more, gets on base. I like Grossman more at DH and as a PH than as a regular in the field. If anyone is hurt for two weeks he can play if anyone is seriously hurt, I would hope they call someone up to play in the outfield.
  8. Santana haves proven for multiple seasons that he should not be on the roster. Grossman has yet to prove he shouldn't. Grossman should be in the mix at DH and a bench bat and occasional outfielder. To me he has more value and makes more sense.
  9. Gimenez, Belisle, and Breslow are the three new vets Seth has making the team and I agree with this is how it will play out. I'd personally roll with Gimenez and Belisle and keep Boshers. We need a big improvement in pitching, have two veterans in the bullpen who can gets outs and another veteran catcher to work with the staff is not a bad idea. Garver should be catching everyday in Rochester. Anyone really upset about Gimenez taking Murphy's spot? Is anyone really upset that Belisle gets a spot over Tonkin or Duffey? Breslow gets a spot over Boshers? Not to mention most of the guys not making the team that are listed will probably see time due to injuries. If nothing else there's more depth.
  10. Admittedly, I'm far more interested in parts of baseball outside of metrics than most here. I find that the front office brought in so many veterans interesting for two reasons: 1. I think they want some vets who will get on the vets we have currently. At least this is how I've been reading articles, tweets, ect. 2. Like I am, I don't they are blown away with the guys coming up. Or at least they don't think guys will be knocking down the door this year. That's my reading of the tea leaves.
  11. Indians 14th, Twins 15th, Rangers 30th. Small sample size, but any reason to be at least slightly concerned by this?
  12. Completely agree, I see no confirmation here.
  13. Thanks for the Gopher write ups, keep them coming! Traxler has always been more of a role player and PH in the past, but he is getting more PT this year. Nice to see him improve and get more PT as he goes. Bit of a down weekend, but the conference season is where the Gophers will concentrate on winning. I don't know if they have the pitchers to battle for the title this year, but I know as usual, the writers have given them no chance. #14 is too good, to not get this team in the upper half of the league at minimum.
  14. They lost to NDSU, but those who don't follow college baseball, it's not a huge deal. Mid week games are more for the freshmen and sophmore's to get more game experience, especially the pitchers.
  15. I'd like to see Mauer and Grossman bat 2nd. I personally still prefer a speed guy at the top. Polanco seems to me like the guy who currently makes the most sense, assuming he's playing everyday. There are a lot of different line up theories. I've been around coaches who like batting their top guy 2nd, figuring over the season he'll get more plate appearances than 3rd or 4th. I've been around other coaches who like have their "lead off" guys bat 1st, 5th, and 9th. #2 hitters 2nd and 6th, #3 hitters 3rd and 7th, clean up hitters 4th and 8th. This theory of course is going off the assumption your 3 and 4 hitters are knocking in everyone leading the bases empty for you 5th and 9th hitters. I've coached with one coach who always wants his worst hitter hitting 8th instead of 9th because he believes this helps get more guys on base for the top of the order which is filled with OBP guys and gives him a better chance to get the bases loaded for his top hitters batting 3rd and 4th.
  16. That's almost as bad as playing in the WBC!
  17. According to ESPN, we should consider Ervin Santana as well... Minnesota Twins Depth Chart - 2017 Manager Paul Molitor Disabled List None Left Field E. Rosario R. Grossman Center Field B. 19. I agree with having Romero in the top 5, I'm not one to get overly excited about any prospect until he starts dominating AA. I still think A to AA is the biggest jump in the minors.
  20. 5 pitches, 4 strikes, a single, a SB, and they manufactured a run.
  21. Thanks for the info and the video. The dimensions of the dome were 343, 408, and 327 I think. Does anyone know what the dimensions are at US Bank? Very similar?
  22. Thanks for the heads up. Not a big difference, but definitely good to know.
  23. The Twins could just as easy release Escobar and Santana and probably find someone just as good or a better fit off waivers after spring training. I have nothing against either guy, but they seem very expendable.
