    I know our high school kids call their own games, and are talked to much like Seth stated. Actually, I don't remember calling any sort of a pitch for anyone after the age of 12.

    I would guess the Twins thought there was more value waiting for one of two reasons. One, an injury to a current catcher on a playoff team. Or two, they still were talking about a trade with a couple teams and did not want to have a team claim him while they work on the best deal. So then why not wait longer? I'm hoping there is a trade in place already and they are seeing if he clears to finalize. That's my take anyway, no idea if I'm right or not.

    I'm not Seth, but my assumption is they will work with him on shortening up his swing. I wonder if the week long leg kick will return.

    I think I'd buy in a different sense. Assuming Vargas, ABW, Palko ect are unable to get a return of a major league player, a safe assumption I believe, then I would look for a higher upside 3B at say high A as a trade partner. Clear up the log jam a bit for someone you don't immediately need on the 40 man roster. Is this reasonable?

    All these kids need to make adjustments to pro baseball and the life that goes with it. Another part of baseball that the metrics can't measure.

    I think the Twins need to trade one starter and keep the rest. Best deal. For argument sake, say it is Santana. You then go into next spring with a rotation of Gibson, Duffy, Nolasco, Berrios, Milone and the young kids. This is assuming no injuries. Trading more than one seems like too much for a team in desperate need of pitching to start with. Free agents look horrible and I highly doubt more than one of the AA guys could make any waves next year. If one is in the rotation, great. The others need to be ready in the minors for injuries that will come. I don't see a year where Gibson and Nolasco are not injured. I don't think you can count on Hughes right now for any spot starting or relieving. Pitch to contact, is a made up term that makes no sense. There's nothing wrong with throwing strikes and not walking people. Control is an asset regardless of velocity. You also miss bats with deception and an ability to throw multiple pitches for strikes. Pitch to contact is an over simplified term at best. If the game were solely about K's and velocity, Trevor May would have been the Twins all-star. I'd trade one of Santana/Gibson/Nolasco, Abad, Suzuki, and Dozier or Nunez if able to get reasonable deals. I agreed Plouffe is a non tender at this point as I wonder if he even plays again this year. I like to keep Kintzler around cheap as he's the anti May, and doesn't piss down his leg in high leverage situations and I'm concerned about the back end without Perk.

    I think all Pohlad knows is $$$ and Ryan wasn't producing enough $$$ regardless of wins or losses.

    I've been saying for probably a decade this team needed new owners. They will find a way to hire a worse GM. Any legit reason to fire Ryan on July 18th, could have been made June 18th... May 18th... Pohlad is clueless.

    It was mentioned previously, that Arcia be judged against Grossman, Kepler, and Rosario. After Arcia had two 3 hits games with a homer and a couple doubles, they were a few posters saying "I told you so" on Arcia. While I think Arcia seems like a good kid and a good teammate, I just can't agree at all. I would rather have Vargas as a DH/PH type. Better command of the zone, better defensively at his position, and I think marginally better on the base paths.

    0-3 1BB 2K tonight. 40HR guy? I guess he has 41 career home runs. If he hits 25 in a year, I'll be surprised. Kepler just hit another home run BTW.

    27 at bats, 9 hits 2 doubles, 1 home run, 4 RBI. Definition of small sample size. 6-9 with 2 doubles and homer with 3 rbi in two games. 3-15 with zero's since, slicing up the small sample size. Grossman in his first 27 at bats with the Twins had 10 hits 3 doubles 2 homers 8 RBI. If we're mad about keeping Plouffe instead of Arcia, I don't see it. Arcia stunk it up in all phases of the game. As bad as Arcia was hitting, was as fielder, people also need to remember he was fairly brutal on the base paths as well. I'm still more perplexed by the Park signing with Sano in the outfield, not worried about Arcia leaving.

    I think one could certainly argue why they bothered getting Ramirez in the first place, but to not give him a legit shot would be foolish imo.
