  1. And AJ is not an option at catcher. I question Ryan more each season, this has disaster written all over it. Extremely little upside and a high chance of failure statistically, professionally, and instructionally. Terrible idea, might as well have Pinto go out and catch at that rate.
  2. I'll straight out this is my favorite baseball site on the web, even though I think half of the new metrics are ridiculous and Billy Beane gets 1000 times too much credit here. I appreciate the mods and the info here greatly. That said, this is bull. Any thread has questioned this gets locked. Any poster who dares to question this topic gets petty shots taken at them. I have a bigger issue with reactions from mods than the deletion itself. /rant
  3. He can't throw, can't catch, and his hitting and health will be going downhill. He's never had issues with teammates? That would be news to San Fran teammates...
  4. 47mph, I heard Kirby the Kestrel can fly faster than Anthony John's throws.
  5. Great idea, if you want an older than dirt back up catcher who can't catch, and is a major pain in the arse.
  6. For the million and a first time, trade Plouffe for a catcher. Keep Dozier, but move him down the line up where he offers more protection and drives in a handful more runs.
  7. Obviously, it depends what they can get for Plouffe. It was well documented that the teams lining up for him may be small. My biggest concern is actually at the plate. Plouffe gives Sano a bit of protection, trading him leaves even less after Sano. I suspect Sano would see more AB's where he doesn't get anything to hit. I actually would consider moving Dozier to the 5 spot in this case.
  8. UGH, it's an interesting thought due to his bat, but I really don't like bringing in crummy attitudes to a young team. He's a better player than Delmon, but just as big of a knucklehead. As you mentioned, the outfield is not where we really need to focus, a trade for Puig I assume would involve pitching. Seems a bit counter productive to me, unless the Twins were able to make other moves including an outfielder being moved. In the end I probably pass. This board does an outstanding job of talking baseball, especially stats and $$$. That said, I think the board often disregards the other things in baseball. Attitude, work ethic, accountability. Maybe it's the coach in me, but I regard these intangibles as much as I do the stats.
  9. A 39yr old catcher is usually a disaster waiting to happen. His body has to break down at some point. And you have AJ who numerous times as reportedly been a major pain in the arse. Going young and adding a vet cancer is about the worst thing a team can do. I don't care about the slash lines in this instance.
  10. As much as I don't want to see Pelf start, I really don't want to see a rusty Nolasco out there. For him to pitch well would be a miracle. Now if we are basically eliminated, then throw him out there in a start or relief.
  11. Can we take Plouffe for him? Maybe add Duensing as a sweetener?
  12. It all depends on the price and the at bats. Everyone bitches about not having a bench, his bat is still good enough to keep pitchers honest.
  13. Phat Pat is a homer? I've never heard that in my life. The guy takes pleasure in ripping people apart and then he does his stupid turkey of the year article every year. Not saying you are incorrect or anything, I guess I just see him completely different.
  14. It's a tough decision, but it really comes down to this: Would you rather have Plouffe's all around game and Sano's bat or Sano's all around game with Vargas's bat and whatever the return for Plouffe is.
  15. Terry Ryan keeps his job.
  16. So now they need to go 23-15. A winning trip in Tampa would really make things interesting.
  17. I think he likes the bright lights of television and ends up working for Fox Sports One.
  18. Shouldn't a true family want to attend the Twins game as well?
  19. Arcia will make it over Vargas mainly due to options. I'm not totally ready to give up on him, but he is not a MLB outfielder. If Arcia is on the roster, who is our 4th outfielder ala Robinson? Or do we do the Escobar/Nunez thing? Wish we had Zobrist now.
  20. You may need to refer to the Mauer thread pinned at the top of the forum.
  21. I realize his age and numbers. He also was able to get big league hitters out on occasion, something most of the current relievers can't do.
  22. Let Caleb go and leave us with this current group (not named May or Perkins) that has shown zero ability to get anyone out. UGH Ryan is terrible.
  23. Shouldn't all hitting coaches in the organization have the same approach? The personalities would differ making some more comfortable with one coach or another, but the approach should be the same.
  24. I understand AJ is a reasonable August trade target, but I find him to be an extreme dbag and don't want him anywhere near Sano, Buxton, Hicks, Rosario, May, Meyer, Berrios, ect.
