  1. I guess he no longer has a dead arm...
  2. I don't think you can take any team too seriously until June, much like you can't take a players performance too seriously until then. The number one factor on how the season will play out is injuries as it always is.
  3. Recall Pinto and option Vargas, Hicks needs to prove it in a much larger sample size for me to trust him. I'd like to see those numbers for another month.
  4. What is laughable is that the paper thinks Souhan is a credible columnist who knows baseball. Buxton is not ready, I would argue a kid striking out over 1/3 of the time in AA is no where near ready. Maybe he gets a cup of coffee in Set. if he gets his groove back. Expectations for a kid missing the majority of last season have been unfair.
  5. This board confuses me sometimes. Lots of posters "screaming" to bring up the kids. Yet at the same time, numerous complaints about Arcia, Santana, and Gibson. You can't have it both ways.
  6. It's going to be interesting when Polanco is ready to come up full time. I still think Polanco is the better SS.
  7. All I know is I can't stand the lack of defense and miss the old days when it was valued in the organization.
  8. 143-19. They can't beat the Tigers.
  9. Trading Suzuki last year means you need to sign a net vet catcher or or rely on Pinto to catch a staff.
  10. Funny, the Twins couldn't get out of the first round and the media and fans were clammoring to fire him. The A''s don't get out of the first round and Beane is a genious. I get a manager vs GM but I find it interesting.
  11. If the Twins really want to start using relievers in longer stretches, I suggest the starting staff better pitch longer as well. It could be a case against May pitching 5 innings as a 5th starter? I wonder if this will lead to more relievers shuffling form the big club to AAA?
  12. I think all it really means is they like versatility and are trying to give themselves options. I don't read anything more into it.
  13. Send May down to the minors even if you think he's the #5 guy. The #5 guy likely won't pitch much the first few weeks anyway.
  14. Seth, that is a refreshing post. Around here usually all that matters is advanced stats. It is as if the scouts are 100% correct, the metrics are 100% correct, and that the players are robots that will play exactly the same as their minor league metrics suggest. As baseball coach, I can say I appreciate the metrics and any advatages I can get from them. But, to use them mainly as the resaons for putting together a roster is out of line imo.
  15. 1. Hale 2. Steinbach 3. McEwing 4. Ozzie 5. Doug I fully expect them to hire Molitor and have Steinbach, Mauer, and Glynn on the staff.
  16. I think Dougie Baseball's (said only to annoy a few on here ) punishment for the brawl is it will be the strike that keeps him from taking Gardy's job. The fight could case him to wait several years to be an MLB manager. That's punishment enough to me.
  17. I voted for overused although the bullpen is missing an 8th inning guy imo. Perk is a good, not great closer. Fien should be a 7th inning guy. I'm not as down on Burton as others have been, but there is no reason to bring him back next year. Keep: Perk- closer Fien- 7th Thielbar- situational LP Swarzak- Long Sign a 8th inning RP, Ryan as been able to put together bullpens. Everyone else can fight it out to round out the pen. No one ekse impresses me.
  18. I want Kyle Knudson and the return of the .191 fan club.
  19. Hilarious, would read again.
  20. Great news and great job Seth! Seth>Doogie.
  21. A good way to get shutout, put Pedro Florimon in the 3 spot of the batting order.....
  22. Maybe, but I'm not nearly as sold on Tonkin and Arcter like some others here.
  23. Consider the "source" Definitely sounds like a great pick up if they can somehow sign him up.
  24. This makes the most sense, Suzuki would most likely be blocked after Aug 1st imo.
  25. I can see wanting to have solid veterans to help young players get their feet wet in the majors. I think thye obviously have gone too far. Bartlett never made sense, Kubel is a Willingham on his best day, Guerrier made the most sense to me. I thought the article was very good, the Twins have great loyalty and that normally should be lauded, they just have taken it too far to the extreme.
