  1. So, with the pitches clocked at 94.5 and 94.9 today, as well as those other pitches thrown at 94.6 and 94.7, he throws 95....because that's how it works, the pitches are generally rounded off to whole numbers, .5 and above are rounded up
  2. Blyleven had 9.7 bWAR & 10.8 fWAR at age 22....NOBODY else on this list is close. Next poll please....
  3. It was a well located pitch, low and in to a righty, Meneses just "lucked" into one...
  4. Ump missed an obvious strike 3 call to Ramirez in the 6th, allowing both the AB to continue and Gimenez to wind up on third due to the pitch in the dirt and bad throw to second. IF Gimenez is still on first Naylor MAY have hit into an inning ending DP and the game is still 1-0 Twins at that point. A bigger turning point than the missed calls to Castro or Correa. The positioning point for the defender is the center of the base, not the edges.
  5. If a positioning call is as important as a fair/foul ball, paint a stripe on the ground. Remove all doubt on the field and review booth as it is a cut and dry rule, not a judgment call.
  6. Watched Darryl Strawberry throw a ball out of Jack Murphy Stadium in the late '80's out frustration, both with his performance and the jeering from the fans. Of course we fans dialed back our jeers and taunts and showered him with compassion... Glad to have Buxton's glove back, hopefully his bat picks up where it was before he got hurt (.304/.360/.522 (.882) over his last 14 games).
  7. I can't upload the screen shot, but to me Correa's positioning seemed within the rules, unless the camera angle behind home plate was slightly off. The line goes directly across second base, corner to corner, and Correa's feet appear to be slightly to the SS side of the base. His body is leaning to his glove side, but, to me, his feet, and thus his positioning, appear legal. This is a situation where several different people's judgment came into play; the fielder, the umpiring crew, the opposing manager and, upon appeal, the umpire in the review office. The HP umpire, looking directly at Correa did not call it. I know his focus is on the P, but pre-pitch he can see fielder positioning. The 2B umpire, standing six feet from Correa did not call it. The opposing manager, from the 3B dugout, at field level, makes a challenge and the play is reversed (good for him). MLB has dropped the ball on this rule. They need to take the judgment calls out of this and paint a stripe behind second base before this decides a more important game.
  8. Did not include Kepler as one of the under-performing players. Sands has allowed 9 runs over his last 7 innings, that's more than a "couple." The team is winning, but I stand by my statements. It is just a matter of time before these poor performances and decisions catch up to them. My expectations are that these are major league players and need to perform as such. Same goes for Baldelli - put the spreadsheet down play the players that are performing.
  9. Tonight's complaint about not being able to watch the Twins on TV brought to you by the letter "A" for Apple TV+....
  10. You are right, my bad... 15-5 against teams under .500 - including 10-0 against CHW & LAA; 9-14 against teams above .500 - including 1- 10 against CLE, NYY, BAL & LAD. Success...But every team plays the schedule they are given...
  11. There are multiple areas that have hurt this years team: The drop-off from projected starters (Buxton & Lewis, also Kepler) to replacements (Margot, Farmer & Martin) is greater than last season. Young players expected to be counted on have not performed - Kirilloff, Wallner (AAA), Sands & Varland (AAA). Proven veterans have seemingly fallen further than anyone would have ever thought - Vazquez, Margot & Farmer. But I think Baldelli's refusal to get out of his own way (game management) has hampered this team more than anything - BP mismanagement, sticking with slumping players too long, PH in the 4th or 5th innings trying to get an advantage and the big two - the righty-vs-lefty line-ups and the get-away day line-ups. The players need to perform, but the manager needs to recognize which players are performing, which aren't and what combination gives the team the best chance to win each day.
  12. More than anything it showed the drop-off from having Buxton and Lewis in the field. It also shows how bad Baldelli's "right handed" batting order is, both at the plate and in the field. Making plays and preventing runs on defense is also important.
  13. Baldelli doesn't think so, Jackson getting loose in the BP
  14. And he took I-29 to the Cities to field it....
  15. No major league 2B catches that ball....
  16. I like this statement 👍 and it made me laugh 😂, but some people don't like the TD emojis...
  17. They have a AAAA team out there right now.....no Buxton, Kepler, Lewis, Julien or Larnach
  18. No. I am not a fan of today's pitch count, but that is what todays pitchers are acclimated to, so Ober was ready to come out. Push him further and who knows how many starts it takes him to reset.
  19. Since some people have an issue with thumbs down or other emojis that disagree with their posts, so I will disagree, laugh, and roll eyes with this statement. If pressed further, I will present evidence that disagrees with your statement, but the statement itself is its own argument.
  20. Varsho's 10 pitch PA did him in - 104 pitches on the day...
  21. Alcala can't be recalled before the 18th unless there is an injury - 10 day rule. Varland started Thursday, he is probably scheduled for a BP session today, so calling him up for a few days could be an idea. Regarding Topa, I think he will pitch this season, I just don't know when. It would be a bad look for the team and medical staff if neither DeSclafini nor Topa, both acquired in the same trade, did not pitch for the team this year.
