    FWIW, the Athletics just placed Wilson on the IL after he got HBP before the ASG and has not played at all since Friday; Twins not the only team that play wait and see....

    Not obsessing over it and definitely not saying build around it, but having the bunt in your "tool bag" is not a bad thing, especially for the faster, lighter hitting guys. And maybe to the beat the shift once in awhile.

    Hrbek had 15 career sacrifice hits (bunts), Puckett 23, Gaetti 32, Reggie "The Straw that stirs the drink" Jackson 13, Lou Gehrig 107, Babe Ruth 114, Dave "King Kong" Kingman even had 16. Earl Weaver's "3 run HR" teams regularly sacrificed upwards of 70 times a season (even after the implementation of the DH). I know these are covering several different eras and "styles" of baseball, but the bunt can be an important part of the game, even from your big HR/RBI guys. I know outs are valuable, but so are runs, and runs win games.

    Fitts averages 4 IP per start (will probably go 6 or 7 tonight) and Boston is LHP heavy in the BP, maybe saving him for later inning PH who also plays excellent defense...

    Looking back through transaction logs, there are few, if any examples, of deadline deals of high leverage relievers with 2.5 years of control being traded, no history to see what the market will bear. Same with Ryan. Closest example would be Berrios, he brought MLB #22 and MLB #86, but he only had 1.5 years of control. Berrios was also 27 whereas Ryan is 29...

    If the consensus is that Jax and Duran each bring back 2 Top 100 prospects and the price for Ryan is higher, this deal is a hard NO, especially since the only other MLB player coming from Boston or Philadelphia is going to Philadelphia (yes I know Abel has 6 MLB starts but is currently in AAA). As stated by several posters, higher rated prospects need to be involved. East Coast bias towards fly-over states is horrible; they think we should just give them our toys...

    Going to be hard to sell Larnach as a LF, he has only started 15 games there, behind Bader (55) and Castro (25). He has started 29 games in RF, behind Wallner (42), but 18 of those starts came while Wallner was on the IL. He has negative value in the OF at both corner positions, but hits above league average. Over half of his starts, 45/89, have been at DH, where he is well below league average at the plate. Not sure how much value he has in a trade.

    I'm not usually one to call out umpires for bad calls, but listening to the radio crew, Perkins was all over the HP ump for missing pitches, basically sounding like he'd changed his zone late. And the check swing call was horrible, Betts even smiled when given a second chance.
