    "WC" = Wild Card. Dodgers, Nats, AZ, and Colorado are N/A. I don't expect the Astros or Red Sox to be WC competition. to be more clear...there aren't several strong AL teams that will need to be beaten to grab one of the two WC spots.

    I don't agree it's a hard question. In fact, it's easy. They're in contention, for both the division and the WC. The season is half over. Cleveland isn't some juggernaut (or at least hasn't played like one), and there aren't several strong teams that need to be beaten for the WC. Find some help. Now.

    The thing is, there's no evidence Polanco has "tons" of offensive ability. His career minor league OPS is .750 something, and his last real good season was in rookie ball. I think people sometimes see what they want to see.

    It always baffles me when I read RBI aren't a valuable way to measure offensive production. Getting a pitch to hit, and often doing something with it, is absolutely a skill, and an important one.

    Today was Gimenez, not Castro. And both infield flubs today trace back to the manager not having his team prepared to play a major league game. That's part of his job description.

    They need that starter for next year, too. Why not get one now? Run differential means zero going forward, btw. They don't reset the W/l record at the AS break to "what it should have been."

    He didn't just start pitching in 2017. Look at the previous four years. It's doubtful, but there's a non zero chance he helps the Twins. A much higher chance than "those guys" IMO. There's a reason he was given a $12m contract for this season.

    Seriously? He's had an ERA under 4, and a WHIP under 1.3, every year since 2011, except the first half of 2017. So yeah, to echo Mike, they think there's a realistic chance he could help the Twins on the field. Maybe he will, maybe he won't, but he's not around to mentor anybody.

    I doubt Colon was signed as any kind of "mentor." He was signed because the Twins are desperate for starting pitching, and he was available cheap.
