  1. False. Eliezer Alfonso, Alex Rodriguez, and Raul Mondesi all had their initial suspensions reduced. Few, but not none. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Major_League_Baseball_players_suspended_for_performance-enhancing_drugs
  2. Um, YES. He took the pills intentionally. Nobody slipped them into his morning smoothie. He said as much. The pills contained a substance that is banned. The substance is banned because it is a known masking agent. Everything in my statement is factual. I agree there's at least some room to consider he might have been taking the pills for reasons other than masking PEDs. However, that doesn't change anything about my statement. (And as an aside, it's a looooooong stretch to think he took them solely to lose weight. There are so many other ways to lose weight, and this substance is not an over the counter medication, so it had to have been obtained either illegally, or from another country, which is itself enough to call into question why he'd be taking pills given by a friend from another country. Irregardless, even if 100 percent through stupidity, it changes nothing about my statement).
  3. and there it is. All the rationalization and maybe-this's and maybe-thats amount to very little, when placed in this simple context. He's banned because he intentionally took a banned substance, banned because it's a known masking agent.
  4. so what you're saying is, we have the known knowns, the known unknowns, and the unknown unknowns?
  5. I haven't forgotten what Lamarre has accomplished prior to and since, Spring Training 2018.
  6. he then gave the Twins 109 PAs of .635 OPS and was gone. It means next to nothing.
  7. Can we stop referring to this substance as "over the counter?"
  8. This is an indication of the health of the Twins outfield, nothing more nothing less. Nobody on the twins thinks Lamarre is any kind of answer, nor is this about "giving him a chance." This isnt about Lamarre grounding a couple singles to right field last spring. The Twins are short of healthy outfielders and are trying to limp out the regular season. Lamarre happened to be available.
  9. Pretty entertaining game. They have a punchers chance at the B1G West.
  10. the umpire had nothing to do with Rosario's bases loaded AB. Rosario was up 2-0, then (as he is want to do) took a wild hack at what would have been ball 3, down and in. Ball 3 ensued, then Rosario popped out weakly to left on a pitch high and away. I sometimes feel like the better count Rosario finds himself in, the MORE likely he is to swing at the next pitch, regardless location. I think hitters should absolutely look to do damage on 2-0, 3-1 counts, but only on pitches that can be damaged. Rosario just decides to swing, seemingly before thebputch is thrown.
  11. LAVikesfan (and Pineda himself) says he took "over the counter" medications. The website I listed says the substance he tested positive for is only available by prescription. Which, if accurate, means Pineda's story cant be true. And either way, it's both "fishy" to the point of smelling, and more than I'm willing to give him any kind of pass for.
  12. According to this website, it's only available by prescription, so "over the counter" appears questionable. https://www.drugs.com/hydrochlorothiazide.html Either way, taking something "from a friend" is at best, risky to the point of being stupid. And I dont think he's stupid.
  13. Big Mike DID "pitch as deep as he could." He was over 100 pitches (for the first time this year I believe) and clearly running out of gas in the 6th. He gutted that inning out, but he was done. I dont think Duffey was available. Romo did just fine, he gave up a shallow pop fly that nobody could get to. Probably should have been a double instead of a triple, but either way, just one of those things. Kepler had a similar hit earlier in the game (also should have been a double, if Kepler runs hard out of the box.) I do agree I hated to see Graterol decide the game. Still and all, this one's on the offense mostly.
  14. Well the preacher kept right on saying that all I had to do was send Ten dollars to the church of the sacred bleeding heart of Jesus Feliz Located somewhere in St Cloud Minnesota And next week they'd say my prayer on the radio And all my dreams would come true So I did, the next week, I got a prayer for April/May Jose Well, you know what kind of curveball he got. So if you're down on your luck I know you all can sympathize. Get a twirler, who makes opposing hitters cry.
  15. Best defensive game of the year. Heck of a road trip. Outstanding, actually. 8-2, I believe. Hats off all around. Edit: per the STrib, it's the most wins on a road trip since the Twins went 9-4 on a 13 game road trip in 1996.
  16. Pretty sure he's still dealing with the effects of a foul tip off the mask.
  17. That's the key part, and it's only been once. We'll see, but I'd be very surprised if any postseason save opportunities didn't go to Rogers, no matter the opposing lineup.
  18. Rosario OPS by month: Mar/Apr: .886 May: .825 June: .810 Jul: .772 Aug: .742 Sep: .400 (Small sample, of course.) Eddie's lack of plate discipline has always been an anchor holding him down. He will never be a consistently good offensive player given his refusal to make the opposing pitcher throw strikes. He's managed an OBP over .300 in only two months (May, Jun) this season, and the best of those was only .326. He's walked 18 times this season, 11 times since April. I can't even count the number of times I've watched him get ahead 1-0 or 2-0 in the count, only to get himself out by swinging wildly at the next pitch no matter where it is.
