    I have a bit more confidence in the front office after the Dozier saga last winter. That, too, was an obvious trade-the-veteran-for-kids situation for a building club, but they resisted when they didn't get a return that they thought was good. (Of course, none of us can really know for sure what offers were turned down.) Based on that sample of one, I doubt that the Twins will trade Santana without getting a satisfactory package in exchange.

    I love the presence of a Twins' game write-up! That's the one thing that has been missing from TD and I hope it becomes a regular feature. When I can't watch a game I sometimes feel better informed about the minor league games than the majors, but a nice write-up of the Twins's game fills that void nicely!

    After giving up eating meat 18 years ago, one of the few things that I genuinely missed was good sausage. After trying out hundreds of abominations pretending to be sausages or hot dogs, I finally found the veggie sausage of my dreams and they are made in ... Seattle. Seriously, if you even have a need/want for a really tasty veggie sausage or hot dog, try Field Roast. Whole Foods carries them (and a lot of other places in Portland, at least). Field Roast franks on a good roll with actual French mustard (Fallot is my favorite) and my wife's green tomato relish. Yum!

    Sioux Falls always makes me think of soufflés. Is there a good French restaurant there? If not, someone should open one. If it were located at the foot of the falls it could be called "Sous Falls."

    Wow, those are the ugliest uniforms I've ever seen. My first thought looking at the picture was "recycled breakfast."

    The box score says 2-1 on the Ft. Myers game, which matches the text, but the scoreline on the article is 7-3...

    And they refuse to use salt to melt the ice. Great for preserving your car, but not so good on the two days a year that it snows. Good luck making it to the city, Mike! MAX might be running...

    This is a nice gesture. As an economist in real life, I'd be really curious to hear how this turns out. Will you tell us in a few months how much people voluntarily paid, how many more/less copies were "sold," and how much revenue was earned this year vs. last?

    This is the problem. It is very easy for us to sit at our computers and say "trade this guy" or "trade that guy," but none of us really knows what is on offer for any of the Twins' assets. I'm sure that the Twins' front office (old or new) is listening and talking and bargaining and dealing. But sometimes you just never get a deal that makes sense and you end up keeping the asset instead of selling at a cut-rate price (e.g., Suzuki in July, Plouffe both in winter and in July, and probably a lot more guys that we didn't know they were considering trading). Without sitting in the GM's chair and knowing what the true, available options are, it's pretty harsh to criticize him for not making a deal. Of course, if we didn't do that it would make this site a lot less interesting, especially during the close season!

    Thanks for all the great work you do on this site. It's my first click in the morning and has brought me much closer to the Twins in the last few years.

    A couple of questions on ages: Can Slegers really be 21 if he was drafted in 2013 after his junior year of college? He would have had to start college at 15. And if Rosario was drafted as a 16-year old in 2010, shouldn't that make him 22 now, not 24?

    It's a problem for the Twins that there seems to be a glut of outstanding second-basemen right now. There are a lot of teams whose best player (or close to best) plays 2B. Altuve, Pedroia, Kipnes, Cano, Kinsler, are all excellent with the bat, and that's just the American League. Has there ever been a time with more outstanding offensive talent at this traditionally defensive position? It makes it hard to trade him when second base is a position of strength for so many trading partners.

    I remember Brito well from his Portland days! Civic Stadium, where the Beavers played, had a big blue version of the Green Monster. It was tailor-made for Brito's powerful uppercut right-handed swing. I even suggested that the concession stands start selling Bernardo Burritos! (Perhaps packaged with Hale Chips, in honor of 2B Chip Hale.) Those were fun days, going to games with a total attendance of a couple hundred in a stadium with a capacity of about 20,000 made me feel like a true die-hard. I used to sit in front of the scouts behind home plate and listen to their banter. You could actually hear the sarcastic comments of fans on the other side of the stadium.
