    So, if I understand you correctly, you are saying that if a minor league player is about to turn 28 a month after a season begins, he should be dismissed as a possible major leaguer? As an old fart, I find that reeking of age-ism. I would love to see an "old" player spending his age 28 to 32 seasons filling a needed role for the Twins.

    If defense were valued, Kiersey, Jr. would have been called up as soon as Buxton sniffled or limped. His defense may not match Buxton, but he would be damn close. Plus, he's having a team record setting offensive year. Instead, the Twins used Margot, Castro, and Martin.

    I did a little research on the two trades the Padres made for relief help just to add some context to this article. The numbers after the names of the players the Padres gave up are their prospect rankings. Any comments added to the ranking are from MLB.com at the time of the trades. The Padres made the following trade with the Marlins: Received: Scott (two-month rental) and Hoeing (middle inning reliever) Gave up: Beshears {not ranked but playing well in high-A), Snelling (#2 and dropping rapidly), Mazur (#8), Pauley (#12) The Padres made the following trade with the Rays: Received: Adam (under contract through 2026) Gave up: JD Gonzalez (#28), Lesko (#5 and dropping rapidly), H. Bush Jr. (#20) The Twins' prospects that match the above rankings are: For Scott & Hoeing: #2 Emmanual Rodriguez, #8 Gabriel Gonzalez, #12 Billy Amick. And they would have to add a propspect ranked lower than #30. For Adam: #5 Kaelen Culpepper, #20 Kalai'l Rosario, #28 Khadim Diaw Would you make these trades?

    Exactly. Here's my prehistoric example. I played a little American Legion baseball in 1965. After going two for two in pinch hitting roles, I got my first start against a pitcher that we knew threw fastballs about 150 MPH (some exaggeration for dramatic effect). I was batting 9th. I watched our first 8 hitters take a first-pitch fastball right down the middle. So when it was my turn, I started my swing when the pitcher began his windup. It was a first-pitch fastball right down the middle. I lined the ball right over second base. Unfortunately, they were playing me not to be able to pull the ball and it went right to the shortstop who was positioned about two steps to the left of second base. BUT, the point is still valid (I think).

    Let's look at the pinch hit for Vasquez scenario a little deeper. The Sox have a RH on the mound and Vasquez bats RH. Julien is on the bench and he bats LH. That would be a good move. But since Jeffers is on the bench and he will have to enter the game to replace Vasquez, that move also makes sense. But the Twins have RH-hitting Margot, who is zero for 2024 pinch hitting, accumulating dust on the bench, the Twins make the decision to use Margot. I think Bailey Ober would have been a better choice. Brilliant and absolutely awful to watch.

    Another two-bit night for Kiersey, Jr. And an outfield assist to boot. Too bad Margot is having such a an outstanding season and blocking Kiersey, Jr's path to the majors. SARCASM

    Plantar fasciitis has been a frequent visitor of mine and it doesn't seem to give a crap if I'm doing nothing or playing hockey. It just shows up out of the blue. It shouldn't have any bearing on where Correa plays. And as for hoping for 100 games a year from players, why not 150 games? Ohtani just reach the 50 homerun-50 stolen bases mark. He's played 150 out of 153 games this year. Don't the Dodgers know about mandatory days off? The theory that young men in superior physical condition have to have a weekly break from their three-hour a day job is nonsense (insert IMHO here).

    The bottom of the Twins lineup went 0 for 24 last night. The three players sent down to create this juggernaut were 6 for 12 last night.

What about the other 55?

    IMHO, even the Twins Daily writers seem tired of this team. Many of the articles lately seem to be newer versions of ones written previously. And, as you pointed out, they didn't even bother with a recap of last night's game. Speaking for the Twins fans not living in Minnesota, Twins Daily is the primary way to stay up to date on the team.

    Why would the Twins be tired? The players all have mandatory days off and many have spent a lot of time on the IL. They should be well rested. After all, isn't that point of mandatory days off?

    Here is a little piece of interesting mathematics. If Wallner plays full time in 2025, he should get about 550 official at bats. A 35% strike out rate would mean 192.5 strikeouts in 2025. If he drops his strikeout rate to 30%, he would have 165 strikeouts in 2025. That's 27.5 less. Over a 162 game season, that's one strikeout fewer every 5.9 games. IMHO - big deal. Let Matt Wallner be Matt Wallner.

    Too much above to either comment on or respond to. One question that I have for the general populous: Why were two bad D111 pitchers (Levine and Falvey) given the authority to dictate on-field activities? I looked for the college career stats for both gentlemen, and this is what I found. Thad Levine - pitched four years at Haverford college. I could only find top performances for each year, no individual statistics. He led Haverford pitchers in: HBP - once Balls - twice Wild Pitches - once Complete Games - twice Losses - twice Wins - twice ER Allowed - twice Ks - once Hits Allowed - three Era - once (but it was 5.79) Derek Falvey - pitches three years at Trinity College. Trinity does not have any historical data on its website. All I could find was that he played three years and was considered "not very good" by his former coach. So I ask again - WHY?

    22–38? Because your first sentence was about hitting, I assumed that you were saying they were hitting .579 for the month. But that isn't true. Then I thought you meant they had a 22 wins and 38 losses record this month and I wondered how they did that in just 9 games? And then I gave up trying to to decipher this comment.

    The Twins could have signed Imanaga and Frede if ownership wanted to win. But, instead, they wanted to save money. That is the bottom line. (Insert "in my humble opinion" here.)
