  1. And now today they have Keaschall in LF. Let him get comfortable at one position, quit trying to make everyone into utility players. Versatility is nice but you first have to master a position. And it's not like we are short on outfielders. I was really hoping this moving everyone around madness would stop, we will see.
  2. The last three years he has played between 50 and 60 games at catcher. They may consider him a backup but that would be it. Yet at a minimum we are going to ask him to start at least another 40 games at catcher and maybe more if Jeffers is moved. Yet all these teams with supposed with catching issues didn't sign him. Doesn't seem like a great use of resources but then that is not Falvey's strength.
  3. This is a typical Falvey signing. Teams don't really view Caratini as a C but somehow the Twins superior staff will convert him into one. Even playing half time with Jeffers if that is the plan, is this really the best use of assets. Bell was a similar signing, he is no longer is a first baseman but are they are really going to insist on running him out there 120 games or more. And no Clemens is not the answer at 1B. I would love to see Falvey for once try to strengthen the top end of the roster and get quality players here or develop your prospects and trust them to play. This playing at the edges is getting ridiculous. You can blame the Pholad's all you want but Falvey has been an absolute failure and is in over his head. He can't develop players, identify talent that can be difference makers and he no idea on how to manage the resources he is given.
  4. How much longer do you want to wait for these two. They will both be 26 early in the season. They need to find out if they can contribute in the major leagues or move on. You can't keep waiting until players are 27 or 28 to give them a real shot. Trust your development and let them pitch.
  5. What 1B signing is going to happen. They just traded for Wagaman and signed Bell. It is pretty clear the plan is for those two to hold down first base. Now it is a very flawed plan, but Falvey is the genius not us on TD.
  6. These articles about the bullpen are great but we all know the Falvey plan. He will wait until late February to sign whatever is left over and annoint this pitcher as the closer because they will unlock something that no one else has been able to. This is where Falvey doesn't do a good job with his limited resources. We need an anchor in the bullpen and at least one or two other guys who can pitch late innings. But instead of using his finite resources to fix an obvious area of need he spends $7m on another bat first DH when we have players on the roster who can match the production of Bell. Bell is redundant on this roster and with all the moves being made we will be blocking potential difference makers. But we won't know anything about these players, ie. ERod, or GG because they won't be given opportunities. We need needle movers, which an anchor of the bullpen could be, not another average bat. Use the resources given in a more efficient manner and give us some hope at least of being competitive.
  7. It is past time to realize Falvey is just not that good at his job. Every GM or POBO has budget limitations except 4 or 5. It is what you do with the resources given and he has not done a good job with this. He gave $11m to Gallo when he had no other offers near that amount and he had two good weeks for that amount. It seems every move they make, they see something in the player they will unlock. This would be fine if you weren't counting on these players to be contributors on your major league roster. Trying this periodically is one thing but they are bringing in 4 to 6 players every year with the same mantra with limited success and then they do not cut bait when the performance isn't there. If your development of players is so good, develop the prospects that you have invested in and make them into major league contributors, if not move on from them. He has no plan, find players who can be contributors on a regular basis and can be competent at one position and try to field a competitive team. If this move means Keaschall sees more time in the OF, that is just sheer stupidity and a dereliction of duty. Having one maybe two players with versatility helps a team but not every player can move around or is comfortable with doing that. This is where I blame the Pholads, get someone competent to run the baseball side of the operation that can at least show us they have a plan. And at a minimum give us some reason to watch this team. Watching all these AAAA types or past their prime vets is just getting old.
  8. He helped out so much, that they decided to DFA him after one season. So we have added another bat first player who is not even a good bat. And all the domino moves make us worse. We now will have at least 4 players that should be the 13th man on the roster on this team as best case scenario, Wagaman, Clemens, Gasper and Kriedler. And Outman if he makes the team.
  9. And he is 30 years old. He should be the 13th man on the bench at the most. Counting on him just means another 65 win season. Aim for higher results.
  10. It isn't the actual company but one of the founders individually that is investing in the Twins. Small difference but still different.
  11. Falvey just recently said Larnach and Wallner are not going to be moved to 1B, so hopefully we can put that to rest on TD. Whether it is a good idea or not it is not going to happen. Lewis is set at 3B, he is not moving, at least not this year.
  12. I believe that by not rebuilding it is just a commitment to aging vets or AAAA guys that they hope will figure it out. This is not a formula for success. By signing these types of players you are not giving the younger players chances and you can't keep waiting until they are 26 or 27 to find out what you have. We keep hearing about how hyped our farm system, at some point they have to be used in the major leagues. Gleeman tweeted out a couple of interesting facts today, one is we are one of only four teams not to sign a MLB free agent. The other is that six relievers have already gone off the board, the tier one and two guys are drying up. So is this just another sign they are going to go dumpster diving again this year, that is the fear. I would rather see some of the kids like Jenkins, ERod and Culpepper, it at least gives some hope for the future. And if they all flame out, you at least know where you stand. This would be more preferable than seeing the Margots or IKF's types being run out there on a daily basis. And I am not convinced that we don't have some talent on this roster, more than some want to give credit for. I think Lewis is still going to be an above average player. And Ober had a bad year, but he has been above average before that. So supplement these guys with the young prospects not the AAAA players or aging vets that they keep trying to convince us are impact players.
  13. My prediction is mid to late August because his turn around is just around the corner and he will be close to breaking out. Don't want to cut bait too early.
  14. Because it applies to how this organization is lacking in developing their prospects and not having patience with them. We will see this year if they truly believe Wallner is an every day player because last year they did not have the options to sit every lefty hitter against left handed pitching.
  15. Wallner is a perfect example of their impatience with the younger players. In 24 he was sent down after two weeks and 25 AB's. Yes I know his K rate was off the charts, but it was 25 AB's. And he was 26 years old. And he was kept down in the minors for a month longer than he probably should have been. That was the year to find out if he could be part of the core moving forward. With his pedigree from both college and the minors as a 2nd round pick, you need to develop players like this when you are in our market. And remember he was consistently pinch hit for by the pinch hitting machine Margot. Now they are hoping he can be a core part of the team, they should know by now. As for MIranda, he should have been given the 1B job in 23 over Solano and Gallo after his 22 season, maybe we wouldn't have the hole at 1B that we have now. Definitely last year France should not have been handed the job over Miranda. Was it the beaning or the complete lack of confidence shown in him that broke him last year. Unfortunately we will never know.
  16. Why is this unrealistic, maybe with the current makeup of the roster. But the goal should always be to put your best players out there and have your role players thrive in their assigned role. This organization thinks this is Strat-o-Matic and you can just move players around like chess pieces. Having one or possibly two platoon positions is one thing but stop having your goal being to get players that can play anywhere. They become a jack of all trades and master of none.
  17. The problem with a rebuild is do you trust Falvey to identify the correct players to get back in return. Who does he have in the front office that knows how to scout and identify the players to seek and hopefully build a winner. They have gutted the scouting staff and it is all analytics staff sitting behind a computer telling him who he should acquire. How has that worked out so far. We end up signing guys like France and Gallo or even Margot. As for the coaching staff, we do have a new manager and some new coaches. But there is also a fair amount of coaches that were brought back. With the collapse of the last year and a half, you would have expected more turnover but Falvey thinks his process is working. So again do you trust Falvey in a rebuild.
  18. Outman is a near certain 26 man lock, Falvey is not going to let him go that quickly. Falvey is convinced he can fix Outman and he will not let him go anytime before July or August if we are lucky.
  19. I am glad to hear that Outman and Fitzgerald now know their swing, their careers have really taken off. You could have at least cite a better example of success to prove the software works. Do all players want this technology or maybe they have other methods to be successful. I too worry that they are getting information overload, and I believe Lewis has alluded to this in the past. Even Rocco in 2024 openly pondered if they were getting too much information. All the analytics and technology is great but there are still fundamental components of hitting that seem to be overlooked. One of those is having a plan when you go up to the plate and how often have we seen the offense shut down after the first couple of innings. Are there in game adjustments being made, are they watching the pitcher or the iPad. So can they adjust their swing, but can they identify the pitch or what pitch they should be sitting on. We need to get back to the basics. Also it would be nice to know how many teams truly use this software. A pretty big range was provided and that tells me maybe it isn't as much of a proven tool as the author wants us to believe.
  20. I hope Martin gets a chance next year but I don't believe Falvey believes in him and this showed last year when he only got a chance because of injuries and the roster blow up. Roden and Outman are going to get plenty of run in the outfield before anyone else and they will continue to be run out there regardless of results if history shows anything. This team i.e. Falvey kept running Gallo out there and let Margot set a pinch hitting futility record. And why was this, they were his guys and signings. I hope the younger OF's get a chance next year but based on Falvey's track record they will either have a very short leash or will get no shot all.
  21. Him making the team was a foregone conclusion the moment he signed. Falvey basically said he was the starting first baseman at the time of the signing the same as he has now done with Clemens. All these articles whether fantasy or real about what they will do at 1B is not going to change what has already been determined. I will believe something different when there is someone not named Clemens at 1B on opening day.
  22. The situation at 1B is no different than last year, Falvey has basically annointed Clemens as the starter the same as he did last year with France after signing him to a $1m contract. I would be very surprised if they sign any additional resources for 1B. Even a RH platoon if they don't play another position would be a poor use of roster resources. But the same point still applies to as it does to every other post, we do not know the direction the Twins want to go. But when they keep players like Gasper, Kriedler and Fitzgerald on the 40 man and take the risk of exposing of other prospects to the rule 5, it is not a good start. And they do not have young players on the 40 man, they are mostly a collection of players in their late 20's who have had minimal success if any at the major league level. I hope they do something to show us some reason to watch this season.
  23. Foley would be a good addition, no to Lowe. How much dumpster do we have to do. We already have Gasper on the roster and Clemens proclaimed as the starting first baseman. Yet Falvey said he wants to building a contending for next year, either he is completely incompetent or lying or possibly both. Because neither of these moves signal a serious move to contention.
