How do you trade Buxton if he doesn't agree to it which at least with his public statements he doesn't want to be traded.

Clemens had one good three week stretch last year and he might be in the middle of another. But there is no way he should be anymore than the 12th or 13th man on the roster and not being the regular first baseman.

Falvey's actions were inconsistent with a rebuild. I have one example, another is tendering Larnach. That move made no sense if you are in a rebuild with all of our young outfielders.

The Blue Jays just released Jimenez after 12 games, they didn't hang onto him for a full season or even a half season and hope that he has something left in the tank. This is what the Twins need to be doing, be more decisive.

We don't know who is to blame for not following thru on the rebuild or if that was truly the plan. Josh Bell was signed at the same time it was announced that Tom was taking over as leader of the Twins. I am not sure if he had input at that time. But that signing does not indicate a full blown on rebuild. Falvey made no moves in the first two months of the offseason to indicate any plan he might have had. And the turmoil at the top is not an excuse. executives deal with that in every industry and they still make decisions for the best of the organization. Falvey sat on his hands.

It is easy to blame the owners. But Falvey was not a good POBO, he signed Bell and said it was to be our first baseman. We had no sustained success under Falvey. You have to work within the resources given and he could do not do that. Even this offseason he didn't need to sign Caratini, he had already identified a backup catcher. He could have used those dollars for a relief pitcher back in November but he thought he could build a bullpen on the fly. Other teams can field more competitive teams with the same payroll as the Twins but Falvey was unable to.

The Twins' Pitching Philosophy Is at War With Itself
karcherd replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Minor League Talk
Are they developing starters in the minors. It appears like they are more concerned with developing bulk guys. Like the article says pick a lane, but they aren't really doing either right now.- 36 replies

This Will Not Go On Much Longer
karcherd replied to Matthew Trueblood's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I get the waiting even though I am not sure Wallner can turn it around with the Twins. But this does not mean there is not a place on the roster for ERod. Outman and his role is not needed. There are plenty of AB's to go around if they stop worrying about their fascination with platooning everyone. -

karcherd replied to Matthew Trueblood's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
For where the Twins are there is not a need for a specialist role which is why Outman should be an easy DFA. If they want to keep Wallner, there would be plenty of AB's for Martin, Larnach, Wallner and ERod. It just means that Bell needs to play 1B. Clemens should not be taking AB's away from any of those four players. -
Have you told Zoll of your plan because I don't think he got the memo. Right now they have Rojas on their 4 inning program, which is short hand for a starting role in the minor leagues. I don't think they are looking at Rojas to be in the bullpen. Whether they should or not is another issue.

First they need to play Martin regularly before you can put him in the leadoff spot.

The best chance for meaningful upgrades was earlier in the offseason. I am not letting Zoll completely off the hook, but Falvey created the template for the season, there is no way to dispute this based on the timing of his leaving.

Falvey didn't leave until the end of January, a couple of weeks before spring training. He set the tone and plan for the upcoming season starting last fall. Zoll had to pick up the pieces.

This is who Clemens is, he will have a few good games, then you live with the flyballs and strikeouts. But this is what you should expect from a bench reserve. The problem is they are trying to make him a regular at 1B and that is not what he is.

This is a perfect example of why Falvey was a failure and you can't blame it all on ownership. He could not make good use of the resources he was given. He gives $7m to Caratini and could've used that money to sign at least one reliever if not two. He had a backup catcher who was not a great bat but there was one in place. Instead he just went after castoffs and left Zoll with a cluster to try and clean up.

Twins (Bradley) vs Mariners (Kirby): 4/29/26, 12:40 pm CDT
karcherd replied to C-Gangster's topic in Archived Game Threads
I have always been a believer of Wallner but it is time to send him to St. Paul. But not for a reset, he needs to be the 5th or 6th option to be called up. At this point if he is going to have a future in baseball I don't believe it is with the Twins. He is not a young prospect anymore, he is a great candidate for a change of scenery. -

They have come back to the players they always have been. You take what you can with them, but they should never have been counted on to be cornerstones. -
Mariners 7, Twins 1: A Game of Two Bullpens
karcherd replied to Cory Moen's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
If Correa was still here, Gray never would have been on the opening day roster and let us get excited about a couple of good games. Outman would still have been because he has no options left and the Twins are scared to DFA what they deem as an asset. The real problem is that ERod is not up here for Outman. -

How do you equate Outman and Correa. They play two completely separate roles and money is not a consideration with Outman. -
Mariners 7, Twins 1: A Game of Two Bullpens
karcherd replied to Cory Moen's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
They signed Caratini because he could also play 1B. They are so focused on positional flexibility they don't seem to evaluate whether the player can play one position well or even if they can be a valuable contributor to a winning team. They need to shift their focus and not be so focused on positional flexibility. One utility player is fine but you don't need a whole roster of them. -

Everyone mentions Lewis but not Gray's strikeout. They both failed in that situation. -
Mariners (Gilbert) vs Twins (Ryan): 4/28/26, 6:40pm
karcherd replied to Brock Beauchamp's topic in Archived Game Threads
Gray is on a three game hitting streak, so if he plays to give someone a day off that works. But I worry that his small stretch of success will lead to regular playing time when the results taper off. This is what they have done with Clemens, he had a three week hot stretch in May last year and is still getting regular playing time. They really need to decide what to do with Wallner, he looks lost. I still believe in him but I am not sure it will happen here in Minnesota even with a reset in St. Paul. He is not a young prospect anymore, if they send him they need to commit to others like ERod and only recall Wallner on a last resort basis. Bell needs to play 1B which he was signed to clear the logjam of DH types and give the deserving players AB's in the outfield.
