  1. And in May he was horrible. Do you really think the rest of the league doesn't know that he is a streaky hitter. We need a dose of realism on our players. I love the streak he is on, but it's not going to change his value.
  2. Kreidler has only played every day for less than a week. Let's see what he can when he plays more. I like his defense and don't mind him on the roster as a utility player. But how many do we need. Like you said we need to find what we have now this year. Or we will be having the same debates next year at this time. Ride with Luke at 2B this year, is there really room for him in the outfield if even a fraction of the guys coming up work out. I don't want to make room for Kreidler at this point as a starter.
  3. Washington had no takers at the deadline last year for Bell, what has changed. The only one willing to give him any kind of dollars in the off-season was Falvey. The only way to get rid of Bell is to DFA him.
  4. Clemens has no value at the deadline. His hot streak is over and he reverting to what he is, a good role player. The rest of the league knows what he is. There is no reason Lee can't fill at SS. If you are adding an infielder to the 40, give Ross a shot.
  5. We need to have some patience, not every player comes up and is a superstar. Luke has 125 games and 500 plate appearances. He is still figuring things out at this level like all players. You need to give him this year at a minimum and see if he can be part of the future. Or at least have someone better to replace him. And no Arcia and or Kreidler are not going to be part of the long term solution so he should not be sitting for them. The comments that want Arcia up here, I don't get. No one in the league would even claim him and we want him to start for us. As for his defense, he has had a few better games recently until last night. He barely has played a season at second, he needs reps. A comment above mention the throw he shouldn't have made behind second base last night, that can come with reps. I was at the Rockies games last night and the Red Sox second baseman made a similar throw, should never have thrown it. Point is these plays are made every night by everyone in the major leagues at some point. He needs to learn, but these throws can still happen.
  6. Until there is someone ready to replace him, why do you trade Larnach other than for the sake of trading him. And what will you get for him a player from A ball. What value does he really have. Same with Clemens and Bell, they have no value around the league. Yes they have had hot streaks but have also had really cold streaks, you don't think the rest of the league sees this. There was only one Falvey who would get fooled by a hot streak and he isn't in the league as a decision maker currently.
  7. Why do you add Arcia to the 40 man roster and call him up, what value does he have. He just went unclaimed by every other team in the league who could have had for free but yet we would want him on our roster. I thought Falvey was gone.
  8. This is an organizational decision IMHO.
  9. Who else is there to leave the player decisions to right now. Zoll is the top guy, this is where I blame the Pohlads, they have left the baseball side rudderless right when they need leadership at a crucial time. I don't want Tom P. saying I want prospect x instead of prospect y in a trade, what expertise does he have for that. How do we hold Zoll accountable any more than we could hold Falvey accountable. I have been saying for a couple of weeks that I want them to bring in a senior advisor to guide Zoll thru this process and help the organization but I don't think it's going to happen. I don't trust Zoll to change the toilet paper much less make any trades that are going to impact this organization short or long term.
  10. What recommendations are Zoll making to him. I don't want Tom P. anywhere near judging what players can help this team. So is Zoll going to hold Tommy accountable for his words.
  11. Better yet, bring in someone who knows how to run a baseball operation. Zoll is in charge, it is Tommy who needs to step in.
  12. This, what if they had performed like this in May as well, maybe we would be at .500 or better. Bell is a streaky hitter, ride him now while he is hot, but the key is can he sustain some level of productivity.
  13. Here is a novel idea, can they stop trying so many experiments and maybe target players that have a proven track record that they don't have to fix. How many experiments have they tried this year and Gomez is the only one so far that has worked out. He is the type they should be going after if experimenting, he and is younger and maybe got caught in the options game. Now let's hope he can continue being productive for the whole season. Maybe give some of the guys you have developed a shot or maybe they haven't been developed. This team needs direction and Zoll is not going to do it by just throwing stuff at the wall and see what sticks. This is what Falvey did and he obviously is going to follow in his footsteps. They think they are the smartest ones in the room and can outsmart everyone to a winning team. How has that worked out.
  14. Now we need to find someone to replace Lawrence's arm slot. At some point Pohlad has to look at Zoll and say do you have any clue. He is jumping the line to get guys like this and they are not just bad but horrific. If you are just going to throw stuff at the wall, anyone can do that. Figure out a real plan to build the bullpen. How many games have they cost us.
  15. Look at utilization in the minor leagues, they are constantly moving players around. So they are all utility players at this point. The players are not coming to the big leagues prepared to play one position.
  16. That's a false statement, they chose to carry Outman. If you have one utility i.e. Clemens that can move around and 5 or 6 starters that can play every day, this eliminates the need for moves at the end of the game. Again they haven't developed this because their first priority has been making everyone into a utility player. There is no explanation when they were carrying 4 utility players and only one deserved any kind of AB's.
  17. Yes and the Twins placing priority over ability to play has produced a sub .500 record over the last 6 years. Maybe it's time to say we need to change things up.
  18. Then don't call him up, it's really not that difficult. Maybe he is a McCusker or maybe he can be a productive player and carve out a role. But you won't know if you don't play him.
  19. Instead of flexibility, it would be nice to have players that can play, one utility player is enough. The team needs to focus on developing players who can play and a lot less on flexibility.
  20. You may be correct about Zoll, but that is why I am advocating for an experienced baseball executive. The Pohlad's need a proven leader.
  21. How can he earn it if he doesn't play. I would think it was earned based on his play in AAA. That's why he was called up.
  22. They have to use their whole roster, why is Fedko up here, to be a pinch runner and late inning defense replacement. This team does not need the role. You can play everybody, forget about the platoons and get creative. Sitting Fedko except for late innings is just stupid.
  23. I will keep beating this drum, they need a competent front office to run the baseball operations and Zoll is not the one to do it. Hopefully they could formulate a plan on how to become a competitive team and Tommy P. would listen. and then they could formulate a real marketing plan which has been down in the past. The owners should be hiring people to run the organization and give a thumbs up or down to the plan. We haven't had a competent front office since Falvey came. This is what I am blaming the Pohlads for, especially the kids.
  24. For some reason, the Twins have favored Gray all season. He is the one they brought north out of spring training. I still don't know what they saw then much less now to justify a roster spot.
  25. Are you referring to the 31 year old Lawrence as a younger reliever. They have not committed to youth, when they need an arm, they don't go to St. Paul unless they are on the 40. They just bring in another old retread. And we still have two others over 30 and one should be moved and the other has looked better.
