  1. Falvey was the one who signed Bell to play 1B, not DH. Player development has been non existent for the last 10 years under Falvey. You can argue about what payroll should be, but other GM's have been able to field winning teams with the same payroll as the Twins or even lower. If I am going to blame the Pohlad's, it's for not hiring the right people. They should not be the ones making the day to day decisions. They should have a plan presented to them and they either agree, ask for adjustments or say no to the plan. But you need to have a competent management present the plan. This is how every business whether sports or other industries operate.
  2. The highlight from the Giants game showed a 21 year old getting the walk off home run. I didn't think you were allowed to have players under 25 on your roster.
  3. Or they hire competent people to run the organization like grandpa did.
  4. At some point we have to develop some starters, we can't convert them all to the bullpen. This team's record of developing players is abysmal.
  5. Don't worry we will score 4 or 5 runs yet and then Morneau they are really battling. And they can continue to say there is no problem with the offense. Keep running this putrid lineup out there.
  6. We seriously have Clemens and Bell hitting 3 and 4. Can you say we are not a serious organization without saying it.
  7. You mean his whole career, he just had one of his good stretches before the IL stint.
  8. Morneau really needs to stick to working with Royce. He is becoming more and more like Bremer every day. I was hoping for more from him but it just isn't there.
  9. I don't get it either, I have no idea what they are thinking. But I would like to see an experienced baseball executive running the baseball side of things. Maybe they could show Tommy P. a plan of how to run an organization. Zoll is way over his head.
  10. There are three players in the lineup today that are not part of the future as regulars and are taking AB's away from younger players. Convince us that this lineup can even make the playoffs much less win a playoff game.
  11. He wants no one under 30 to play, only washed up vets are a fit for this team.
  12. The problem is the front office hasn't changed other than the top position. Everyone else including his replacement is still there who believes in how they are operating. Zoll needs to go now, not at the end of the season.
  13. Yes a 30 year old journeyman is the answer. Keaschall has been hitting fine just not for power.
  14. Have you been watching the games since Royce returned. His feet are much quieter in the box. He has a step back to help with timing and power and a little leg kick, that is not happy feet. Yes he has swung at a couple of the low outside pitches, but he has improved his plate discipline, He has one strikeout in 15 AB's. This is a small sample size and he has to start turning his improvements into steady production at the plate. But he is looking better, anyone who is objective can see that.
  15. He was signed to play 1B, DH was intended to be a rotation of players. Falvey stated this after the signing, which is what made this a bad signing. At least they have pivoted from this, but he is clogging up the DH spot. You could have gone with four starting outfielders and rotated one at the DH spot for example. There was no market for Bell last year and his numbers are no better this year, so if they are not willing to DFA him, I am afraid he will be on this roster thru the end of the season.
  16. Look at his career, the injury is not the reason he has troubles with command.
  17. He has no command of his pitches, did you watch the game last night, that was a microcosm of his career. He has the stuff but he has no idea where it is going. This is his fifth year of starting and he still can't put together a streak of a few games at a time.
  18. They need to find enough starters so that Bradley can be moved to the bullpen. He isn't going to make it as a starter, which Tampa already figured out.
  19. All the trade proposals above have one problem, the decision maker. Do we trust Zoll to set the course of this organization for the years to come. Does he have any kind of plan or is he just going to take what he gets. Can he get true value for any of the players mentioned in the article and comments. I find it hard to believe Clemens would bring anything, there was already an article written about him. Gomez has been good for a few weeks and I hope he keeps it up, but what would he really bring back.
  20. He is clogging up the DH spot, which could be rotated among various players. Say you call up Fedko and Roden and want to give them regular playing time, somebody can DH. So it is more than Wallner that he is blocking.
  21. There are plenty of other candidates for Culpepper to replace. Keaschall is not the worst problem we need to worry about.
  22. Being versatile doesn't mean you are competent at a position. Having a couple of players that can move around is nice and can help a team. Even having a couple players that can fill in at different positions can be helpful in late game situations or short term injuries. But expecting players to excel at multiple positions is not realistic. Reps still mean something and that is what helps you excel at anything in life. The play for Lewis was not a simple grounder and I am not trying to overstate the difficulty. But he is holding a runner on and has to come off the base to field the grounder. Is he thinking or reacting, footwork makes a difference and that is where reps come in.
  23. This feels more like an article about a player you don't think should be part of the team. You try to downplay his improvement in May by saying he is regressing in June. This month he has started 7 games and gotten hits in 4 of them, doesn't seem like much regression. As others have noted Keaschall is who should be getting AB's, not the likes of Gray, Arcia, Kreidler, even Bell or Clemens should not get AB's over Keaschall. If our big league staff can't get him back on track then maybe they aren't the ones for the job.
