  1. I figured that it was tongue in cheek. Wanted to give credit to the genius, Falvey.
  2. They would need a willing trade partner and I am not sure there is one out there. I do agree with you on the attachment that fans have for mediocre players. Let's try and raise the bar on the talent level on this team for once.
  3. Lewis was a first round draft pick and number 1 pick with a larger investment than what was invested for Clemens. This has been going on in all sports since the beginning of time of who gets more chances and who doesn't. And Lewis has actually had more success in his career than Clemens. He doesn't have a position because the Twins haven't committed to a position for him. Now the argument can be made that the Twins have given Lewis enough chances and it is time to move on and that is fair. I am not in that camp, I think Lewis should be here until the end of the year and then make a decision.
  4. These bullpen moves tell me that nothing has really changed in the front office. Falvey created a culture of 'we are the smartest in the room" and that does not appear to be changing. Let's purge this whole front office and get some competent baseball executives to run this organization.
  5. Hopefully Bradley is not reverting back to his Tampa form and that the early season success was truly a breakthrough.
  6. Do we not think the rest of baseball scouts players. He has had a good six weeks similar to last year. It seems to be forgotten by most that he was hitting below the Mendoza line for April. I don't mind him on the roster as the 13th man playing a few days a week and pinch hitting. The problem as others have noted is the usage of Clemens by the Twins. He is not an everyday player and the fact that he is playing and performing as one of the better players is an indictment of the roster talent on this team. We might get a Rookie ball player for him if a team is desperate or has an injury that they can't fill internally. He has nowhere near the value of Castro or Escobar.
  7. I stand corrected, there was a market of one team in the last year. Just like last year at the trade deadline, there will be no market for Bell.
  8. There is no market for Bell and there hasn't been for a year. But I would not be disappointed to see him DFA'd, just not sure this team would do that.
  9. That's because leadership hasn't really changed. The direction for this season was set by Falvey during the offseason, leaving right before spring training really didn't leave a lot of room to pivot. Zoll was the number 2 to Falvey and really hasn't shown he doesn't want to follow the plan and put his stamp on this organization. He needs to go and we need an experienced baseball executive to set the direction for this team.
  10. Lewis has had two games back up here, kind of early to say he has turned into a pumpkin. He looks a lot better at the plate than he did. Now we just need to see it result in more production.
  11. Gray is stretched as the everyday shortstop, 16 of his 26 RBI's have come in four games. He will havesome success, but not consistently, that is the definition of a AAAA player. It shouldn't really be that difficult to move him to St. Paul for Culpepper. And I am not sure it necessarily makes the team worse. But this team is not really a contending despite what the standings say, I agree with that. They need to start being honest with where they are at as an organization. This is why I have started to bang the drum to bring in a senior baseball advisor to help Zoll. I do not think he is up to the task of being the top baseball voice especially where this organization is at right now.
  12. Bell won't be traded because there will be no interest in him just like last year at the trade deadline. To me, Wallner is the perfect change of scenery candidate. I still think he can be a productive player in the major leagues but I think it needs to come with another organization and at this point I am fine with that. And I am not really worried about what we could get back for him if anything.
  13. With the current roster, this is the best configuration but as I said originally the roster needs to be changed up. This roster is not going to win consistently, some of the AAAA players and aging vets will have their moments but they can't do it on a consistent basis. To me if we are going to see players struggle, I would rather it be the younger players and hope they are learning from it. And if you determine they are not major league players you know what holes to fill in the offseason.
  14. Was there something in his profile that said he could hit for power, honest question. Not everyone hits for power. If that was what they were looking for, maybe the trade shouldn't have been made.
  15. But yet Arcia has been moving around the diamond and not really much at SS. So move Gray out and put Culpepper in.
  16. You can always change the roster if you don't have a player to fill a certain position. Personally I think it should be Lewis, Culpepper and Keaschall from third to second. Lee should be the one moving around, he has the experience at the infield positions. And there is no reason there isn't enough AB's for everyone. Either call up Sabato or roll with Clemens at 1B. Bell's AB's get reduced so Lewis and Keaschall can DH when Lee plays 2nd or 3rd.
  17. This is basically the same front office, so even though it will be Zoll making the final call, I don't expect better results.
  18. I understand earning your role, but you can't keep moving people around and then say they didn't earn it. You have to give them time and let them get comfortable. Not every player is comfortable moving around, this isn't Little League.
  19. If you watch him, he actually has brought back his leg kick and he has mentioned that has helped him with his timing. The few times I watched him in St. Paul, I did see him go the other way more often. Now whether he needed more time in St. Paul, I wouldn't necessarily disagree. But he needs to figure it out up here at some point otherwise a decision needs to be made regarding his future.
  20. I have given my thoughts many times on the comments relating to Lewis. The hate on Lewis has gotten over the top on here lately. Yes his performance was poor this year. Many have said he has a bad attitude and won't play another position like 2B, then when he does and isn't an instant gold glover he is trash. You said he didn't face any major league pitching and he did yesterday, didn't get a hit but it just shows there is going to be minimal rational discussion around Lewis and it is getting out of control. I am not responding to every comment just like many others who use the thumbs down.
  21. The infield configuration was not good in the 9th inning. They got lucky that didn't cost them this time. You can't put Lewis or any other player in the position of playing a new position in a one run game unless it is an emergency. And this was not an emergency. We are seeing a lot of fielding miscues and some of that is due to miscommunication, which is going to happen with this philosophy.
  22. Actually in June Keaschall is 3 for 17 and if you count the last two games in May he is 7 for 25 in his last 7 games before today. You can use any stats you want but regardless he has been looking better and demoting him is not going to help him or the team. This nonsense of saying Gray, Kreidler or Arcia should regular playing time is not helping this team this year or next. Set the positions in the infield with the young guys and let them play the rest of the year, Then assess at the end of the year where you are at with each player and position. But stop playing musical chairs and give the young guys a chance this year.
