  1. Have you guys eaten at Salty Papa's in Ft. Myers. It is really good. Casual. Indoor and outdoor. Fresh fish and shrimp. Gluten free options.
  2. I would really enjoy attending this event. However, I am not arriving in Ft. Myers until March 6th and leaving March 12th. Can we schedule something maybe on a weekly basis at this brewing company for TD writers and contributors and beat writers who are in Ft. Myers. Maybe every Friday or any day certain on a weekly basis.? I imagine that most of us who attend spring training are there for a week or less. If we will do this, the first round is on me. Thanks David Benbow, Statesville, NC aka tarheeltwinsfan
  3. I am not saying whether what is going on in our country's government is right or wrong in this post. I have my very strong opinions about it, but I understand that this site is not the site for that discussion. But what I am going to say is this: There is unprecedented governmental change going on in our country today. The future of investing, and, I dare say, our past way of governing ourselves, are at stake. If I were a wealthy investor, or in a wealthy investment group, I would take that into consideration in deciding where to invest my assets. Based on my University of North Carolina degrees in economics and law and 52 years of being a trial attorney, a sports team ownership would not be one of my top choices for an investment in this period of uncertainty in the United States.
  4. I just don't care. Too much speculation here. no way to know what really went on here. Spring Training games have started. I just don't care who owns the Twins. Play Ball !
  5. Did Zebby Mathews give any reasons for his increased velocity in Spring Training? Changed grip? Additional leg strength? Gained muscle? Curious minds want to know.
  6. Ouch. Please don't hypothesize these negative injuries. I'm superstitious.
  7. I agree. Maybe his brother-in-law, Jason Kubel, is part owner of the Twins.
  8. I understand what you are saying here as far as "what has the individual starting pitcher done for me lately". However, as far as the team is concerned, the Twins had better hit the ground running in April. I know, I know, as Gardy used to say, "It's a long season." I look at it differently. I contend that it is an extremely short season because the only game that truly matters it the next one, starting in St. Louis on Opening Day.
  9. Nick, Thank you for this healthy spring tonic - a spoonful of realistic optimism.
  10. I agree with Nick's article. Santana's excellent defense will be missed by Twins' pitchers and infielders and fans.
  11. This really looks bad. Didn't he have a foot injury part of 2024? Plus France said he was all messed up trying to get back to where he was before he changed some things in 2023 due to "analytics". I sure hope these figures from 2024 are no indication of what will happen in 2025. France was poor at hitting and awful at fielding in 2024.
  12. This is a wonderfully informative article attached. I am going to forward it to my 18 year old lefty grandson, who pitches for Scott Bankhead's travel team plus also for my grandson's high school baseball team in Greensboro, NC. He has committed to pitch for Concord University in Athens, West Virginia next year.
  13. A quick hook also can indicate faith in the bullpen, backed up by excellent performances from the relief pitchers, which the Twins had in 2024 and will have again this year.
  14. Hammer time. Rocco did not have to pinch hit Margot over and over and over and over, 30 times. That is not playing he hand he was dealt. It is doing the same unsuccessful thing over and over and expecting a different result due to the law of averages saying someday Margot will get a hit. That's similar to Rocco putting me in to hit 30 times because the law of averages says I'm bound to get a hit eventually. Mark Twain said: "Facts are stubborn, but statistics are more pliable."
  15. CH, You may be on to something here. Only 2 lefty hitters, no lefty starting pitchers and only one lefty reliever. The FO has "lefty bias". Maybe Falvey was bullied by a lefty 9 year old in the 3rd grade.
  16. Let's follow Barney Fife's motto and "Nip it. Nip it in the bud." No more presidential smack talk. It's not funny.
  17. A good article. Thanks. I think Bader was a good signing for the Twins. He hustles and is a huge upgrade at the corners defensively. Yes, Wallner has great velo on his throws, but after reading the fine article about Wallner's lack of quickness in the OF and his limitations on throwing accuracy, I'm even more in favor of Bader playing a lot of corner OF.
  18. Your grammar is incorrect. "He can't be any bader than Margot". I like this signing for the Twins.
