  1. OK, so....we suck....I've come to terms with that by convincing myself that I was waaaay to busy to watch the Twins anyway this summer. Besides, I can watch my 12 year old and his buddies play bad baseball for free! No need to spend money to go to Target Field. We are an astounding 13.5 games back only 5 weeks into the season. Wow! I don't think in my wildest dreams I could fathom being that bad. In years past, I could at least rely on the White Sox being worse than us. Now my only consolation is that the Yankees might be as bad as us. So, what's the right answer? Trade everyone? Fire everyone?...I say NO! You get to sit right square in the middle of the hot mess you made. Smell it every day and breath deep baby because this is what you created. Don't like it? Then clean yourself up and get yourself out of it.
  2. My thought was - how bad are things when someone laments the loss of Chris Herrmann? Have we really fallen that far?
  3. Didn't Plouffe go threw a stretch a couple of years ago when he was banging out nothing but solo shots? Just think what could happen with him back in the lineup! What the heck? Chicks dig the long ball even if it is a solo shot.
  4. I think I know what Murphy said.
  5. I'll end this whole debate. You can never have too much pitching. Every organization knows this. Arms tire, injuries happen, and the need for guys who can throw the ball across the plate and get outs never ends. Everyone in the Twins organization wants Meyer, Gibson, Santana, and yes, even Nolasco to succeed.
  6. I think you are dreaming with that return for Plouffe. The rest of the league doesn't put much value on Plouffe as we saw in the offseason.
  7. I know, I know...this sounds like a another frustrated Twins fan lining up to beat up management for putting a bad team on the field...fire Molly...fire everyone...clean house...blah, blah, blah. It's not! I'm serious. I'm a numbers guy and the math doesn't lie. We are 7-18 with 137 games left. IF we win 50 percent of those remaining games, we will finish with 75-76 wins. So, is this team capable of going .500 the rest of the way? Keep in mind that, barring a miraculous May/June, we will be out of contention at the trade deadline, September call ups will come (could be good, could be bad). IF we go 62-75 the rest of the way or 13 games under .500, there we are...69 wins. I can't conceive it, but maybe I'm just an unrealistic optimist. At this point, as I look a the numbers, it looks like I may need to come to terms with the possibility of winning less that 70 games. Someone talk me down off the ledge.
  8. On another note....trying to get the picture of #5 out of my mind (thanks for searing that into my brain)....does anyone think the hated White Sox hot start is for real?
  9. Sano looked pretty good at 3rd last night. I'd sure like to keep him there. Something's gotta give. One other thing I noticed last night is that Arcia is hustling....yes, THE Oswaldo Arcia hustled down the line. Gotta reward that. I just feel like this wheel has a spoke or two out of place...not missing...just out of place.
  10. Baa-ram-ewe, baa-ram-ewe. To your breed, your fleece, your clan be true. Sheep be true. Baa-ram-ewe.
  11. Wow, he really is at 3rd.
  12. Sano is really at 3rd or is this just a guess?
  13. The Twins are currently 23rd in defense. Sano is starting to hit, so we have to leave him in right field. Park has certainly produced and so has Joe. Now Arcia is hitting the ball. If you have an OF with both Sano and Aarcia without Buxton roaming the gaps, you need strikeout pitchers. Enter Berris and May.
  14. The timing of all of this couldn't be more frustrating. First, we lose a game that we had won because the backup catcher can't make an accurate throw to first. Second, we outright the backup to the backup catcher off the 40 man roster and he gets snapped up by a division foe. Third, the guy that we were going to bring up to fill the spot on the 40 man roster retires. This is really shaping up to be a year when the Twins can do nothing right...in a year when Joe Mauer is finally hitting. Wait! Let's give him a contract extension! Now that's the Twins way.
  15. One step backward...that may also be used to describe what the fans are going to do this year in regards to the the ticket booth. It's pretty tough to get inspired to buy a ticket when your team is 9 games under .500 only 9 games into the season. Let's face it, in MLB, a winning streak is 3 games. You make up ground by winning 6 or 7 of 10 at home and then winning 5 of the next 10 on the road. When you dig yourself into a hole in April that you should only see in August, the enthusiasm to spend $50 for a ticket and food (that's on the low side) tends to wane. I'd love to be optimistic, but being realistic is probably the the better way right now.
  16. "The rose goes in the front big guy" I think we should take up a collection and send a bunch of lingerie to the Twins clubhouse...whatever it takes to get these guys mentally on track.
  17. OK, I'm officially embarrassed now. I thought last year was bad, but this has gotten really bad. I think it's time for this:
  18. What we need is a rainout...and a whole bunch of Cheongju...compliments of Byung Ho Park. Look it up. This team needs to go out and get rip snorting drunk. What could it hurt?
  19. Either the O's or KC. The only other ballparks that I've been in. For the record, I remember at this time last year thinking that if we could just get to .500, that would be a huge accomplishment. I'm thinking the same thing this year.
  20. I'll be the contrarian here. I don't think you make any moves. What's the point? What move are we going to make that is going to get us out of this hole? None. I think you write off the year (that's right, I said it), you let them play, assess as the year goes on as to what you want to do next year. At some point, some of these guys have to realize that they are playing for a job next year. or.... We take the approach that we've been in every game other than 1 and our offense has let us down. Thinking back to last year, we weren't even competitive in our early losses. So, stand pat and hope that our offense turns it around and those 1 run losses turn into 1 run wins. Either way, stand pat.
  21. Our batting average with RISP is less than .100. It has to get better at some point.
  22. Also, is there a reason that Tom Hammond can't pronounce Byung Ho Park's name? It's not Beeeeyung, is it?
  23. Is this a must win game?
